Apparently hooking my laptop up too my cooler, plus taking it out of the desk hole it's in now, reduces temperature by 20º. Go figure.
I'm moving it as soon as this upscale finishes (all the important upscale files are on an external hard drive, and it's infamous for disconnecting on touch).
Oh, and my GPU's clock speed is apparently directly connected to temperature and usage. Getting the temp down and the usage up (like 100% up) got the clock speed to 1058 MHz... on a 1033 MHz processor.

Time remaining is 19:28:40.
Frame size, total, now equals ~120 gigabytes. Remember, the entire series equals to ~70. Yay.
Frames rendered are about 25K, which equals about 18 to 21 minutes of animation.
It already rendered the intro, frames 1 to 4980, (all episode 1A, It Came from Next Door) then 10000 to 33000 (from 6 minutes of 1A to the end of 1B, Pest Control, the credits, Frederator and Nickelodeon logo) and we've about 6K frames to render.

Depends on what mode you set it to.
It can use the cpu exclusively, or be extremely GPU intensive and only use a little bit of the cpu.
But the FX-8350 seems to be a really powerful and fast CPU, so you should fare well in CPU mode. It's great for CPU processing once you have good hardware.

The specs are deceptive, the benchmarks are quite moderate.
The piledriver architecture really isn't that good for gaming, though I don't know how well it fares for rendering, and that's why I'm curious.

My gtx970 should be able to keep up though if nothing else.

Artwork took out the "depth" that this show's graphics had - the bump mapping detail, 3D depth, extra details; but it also removed the most compression artifacts!

Took about 6 and a half hours to process it through waifu2x caffe.
I used denoise level 2 instead of 3 since it created so much blur.

Honestly I think it still looks a little blurry for my taste, but I imagine it would look better on later episodes as the first season has much softer and less bold lines than the later episodes.

I'm not expecting great results, but I'm reserving judgement till I stitch it and see it in motion.
As far as resolution I used the Ed.Edd.n.Eddy.S01E01.Pop.Goes.the.Ed.-.Over.Your.Ed.480p.WEB-DL.AAC2.0.H.264 rip as the source, so it's 2x that.

I wouldn't really kick it into Auto because it might give you really varied results (pixealized images and completely blurred images) so yeah, just stick with Level 2 or 3.

As for the blurriness, this could be solved by changing modes (Y, RGB and Anime). They're all very different and were trained with different sources, so one might remove what the other doesn't.

For Project Athene, I use RGB mode with Level 3 denoise and 2.00 Magnify. It works pretty well, if you ask me.

I'm not entirely certain the color format the ripped frames are stored in, but I tried Y and RGB, and Y seemed to eat and blur more of the fine details in far shots, like the hairs on Ed's head when he's in the background, so I went with RGB as it looked better to my eye.

Is there an easy way to tell which format my frames are stored in?
One of the programs I was using to rip frames mentioned the video was encoded in some format containing a Y, but was ripping them to RGB.
I'm using a different program to rip the frames now though, so I'm unsure how the image data would be stored in the png and if it actually is RGB data.
