Instead of showing or telling, Morbi does neither.

I waited an hour and a half longer than usual for nothing.

There's a very obvious problem with the possum thing that no one managed to pick up on last thread: Renard teleported in with the rest of the family.

Which Morbi only clarified through tumblr.I feel sorry for anyone trying to figure out this comic without following Morbi around, they'd be hopelessly lost. Whether or not a possum could teleport or not wasn't established until after Friday's update.

Teleportation is magic, though. That they can't use it is pretty obvious but we were all too busy being dumbasses and riding the possum tumor sponge hype train.
>>
>>82217811

>Hey, lets have 20 PLOT THREADS GOING ON ALL AT ONCE, AT DROP EACH ONE AS SOON AS IT GETS INTERESTING

That is not good story-telling. Morbi is just stringing us along.

I just want this chapter to end, so we can get Poppy trained, because that's probably more in Morbi's comfort zone.

When Morbi is saying no possums are in there, is he including them, or not?

Because that would be lying through omission.
>>
>>82218227
Possums are anti-magic and therefore can't be teleported, and Renard was teleported in.
>>
>>82218227
We realized that Renard teleported in and opossums like Poppy and Lily can't teleport. Even using a wormhole type thing they just fall out the back comically. So now we don't really know what is going on with Renard and the chair.
>>
>>82218255
IIRC he only said there wasn't a possum child in the bubble.
>>
>>82218284

It can't be a possum, period. Maybe a gamba, but that would be pushing it.
>>
>>82218255
Morbi's only real comment of confirmation was that there isn't an opossum "child" in there, unless I missed something.
The teleporting bit still makes things very confusing.

>lying through omission

You could consider it that, yeah. But given that Short-Tailed Opossums seem to prefer referring to themselves, and being referred to, as Gambas rather than Opossums it could just be clever lore-use or someshit idk theres a word for it but I don't know what it is
>>
An opossum heart removed from the body, and kept alive through electricity.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_T8OuYIfhM

Sealed in lead, and only made to pump after the teleporting.
>>
Assuming there is an animal in there and whatever type it is isn't important, we could maybe make a few good guesses on what it is based on that bit of tail we saw.
>>
What if the opossum that is in the chair is heavily mutated by god's blood/some other crazy ass drug?

Or maybe its just something equally fucked up.
>>
>>82218257
Can't they just teleport the chair and the possum with it? Like how magic could be used on a cast to break an arm.
>>
>>82218384
>>82218405
Well remember Poppy's reaction was nothing more than a resigned "ah". If it was something really weird and unseen she'd probably have a stronger reaction.
>>
>>82218431
In that situation, the cast is just a physical object being used to break the arm.
Teleportation is purely magical, so it -should- just teleport the chair and leave the opossum behind if I have the logic right.
>>
>>82218436
Poppy's not stupid. Even if it's something abhorrent, she could be underselling it for Lilly's sake. Or because she knows she can't do anything without killing Renard, and she's resigned to it.
>>
>"My battery was running low!"
>>
>>82218436
Whatever Poppy saw warranted more realistic pupils and her putting Lily to sleep, at least.
>>
>>82218384
>>82218436
A suspended organ in a jar is not the most extreme thing to see on a piece of medical equipment, yet it would still probably be too gorey to show a toddler. Would also explain Kit's reaction if her father is violently rejecting the heart/blood and she can see it happen.

Not sure where the "tail" comes in all this though
>>
>>82217994
>Papa will be a wonderful, tolerant fox,
I fully expect this, which is gonna be really fucking weird since he ruthlessly took over multiple countries.
>>
>>82218705
Some people are good at separating their work life from their home life.
>>
>>82218651
It could be a partially severed opossum torso? That serves as a self sustaining, lungs, heart etc. blood "factory" if you could call it that... but that's just my guess...
>>
>>82218651
>>82218792
I think that's a bit much. It's probably just a gamba.
>>
>>82219161
I don't think so. Gamba's have furred tails. Opossums like Poppy have hairless ones. The tail poking out of the chair definitely wasn't furred.
>>
>>82217499
This chapter's still not over yet?

When has critical information ever been stated on the tumblr's that was required to understand what was going on in the comic? Give me one example.
>>
>>82219883
It's not really that simple. Take Boris, at his peak not only can he tank Poppy's hits, but he's durable enough that Poppy can injure herself attacking him. On the other hand, Morbi has said that Poppy could have easily picked him up and tossed him about if she thought to do so. The dragon is a shapeshifting, regenerating, living magical reactor that can survive being decapitated and is implied to require large teams of specially trained and equipped people in order to kill it; Valente one-shot it. Valente is also a one trick pony.
>>
>>82220359
That's actually a rather good point. They might have them stationed all along the tour, ready for a quick plug-in.
>>
One thing I don't like with this current part of the chapter is that there is too many characters doing their separate plot point at once, and as a result you get a weird effect where they seem to pop in and out of stasis each time it switches between "Poppy training time with Petunia and Freddy" and "Poppy meets Kit's family."

I mean, shouldn't Frederich have also been helping restrain the King, instead of just hanging in the background with fast cat? Shouldn't someone be wondering what a guest of a guest is doing walking into a private chat in between some of the most important people on the planet?
>>
>>82220475

Gambas don't have the magic-nulling trait of regular opossums, so they're probably not seen as a walking blight upon a magically driven society.

Teleportation is also not an inherent ability for them, but most likely something Ricky himself was taught by Madama Sylvana, OP space warper that she is.

Apparently the police have a grudge against him though.

Chiccadino's situation is really hard to nail down. We know he's both a successful mafia boss and businessman in Fennecland, is very politically connected, including with Kit's father, and yet has to pull shenanigans with dragon blood to convince the current naive queen to get him in as prime minister. He has the painting with the Hand of Fate symbol, which means he's maybe connected, but the royalty that is being conspired against by the same cult has the symbol on its teleportation platform pole, so maybe he isn't. The dragon blood shortage was presumably caused by Poda shenanigans, which means she was working with Chiccadino, yet his top enforcer didn't recognize her. He has something illegal going on with some vials that may be god blood (even if that wouldn't make sense with the Queen of the region unable to acquire it yet common enough that random opossums are able to run around and smuggle it)

I'm probably just overthinking this, but still

It cannot be an opossum because then it couldn't have teleported and then Ren's chair would be kapputt.
>>
>>82232906

There are certain exceptions where opossums can be within influence of magic without fucking it up. For example, that sheep lady was able to use magic to break Poppy's arm because she focused her magic on the cast around her arm, not the arm itself. As for what we've seen of Renard's chair, it's pure technology, no magic. Since the opossum is tucked within the chair itself, it can be affected by magic safely.
>>
>>82228262
No he hasn't. The first time she saw him was at the dinner table, remember how surprised she was to see him there?
>>
>>82233060
I don't think that's how that works, there are no circumstances in which an opossum is directly affected by magic..
The cast broke Poppy's arm because it was a physical object bending in an impossible way at instantaneous speeds. Teleportation is passing through an outright magical space. The chair around the opossum should teleport away and leave it behind.

This is a bullshit excuse, but we can't disregard the possibility of technological magical shielding. Remember, Poppy was able to travel in that flying car because it specifically shielded for the possibility of possum passengers.

The Darling's have enough money to create a tiny sun as part of a fucking dress! If they can do that for such a petty reason, then some kind of shielding that will allow a possum to be teleported as part of a larger object is not a ridiculous idea.

>>
>>82233360
There's no window of time where this would be possible.

>>
>>82234131

>You're teleporting a bunch of stuff that has an opossum shaped-hole in the middle of it

And that opossum is within the hole, which means the opossum gets transported as well.

Flora's version of teleportation isn't some "molecular level deconstruction/reconstruction" bullshit like in Star Trek where something needs to be checked before teleportation through a third party teleporting device. It's magic. An item or person was here, now they're there! Simple as that.

You seem pretty stubborn with the whole "magic doesn't work on opossums!" idea even though as many people already pointed out there are ways to use magic on opossums without focusing said magic directly at them.
>>
>>82234036
You're using magic to grab a blister of spacetime and burrowing it through the fabric of reality to end up in another position.
So anything within that blister that cannot be grabbed by magic would simply stay in the original location.
Ergo; any hypothetical opossum would have been left behind when they teleported the darling hemisphere.
>>
>>82235168
>You're using magic to grab a blister of spacetime and burrowing it through the fabric of reality to end up in another position.
If you do it that way, yes. However, if you were to just tear spacetime through magic, but the tear itself was just a regular old wormhole/tear, there's no reason an opossum couldn't be able to use it. The vast majority of teleportion on Flora wouldn't work like that because why would it need to, but if you specifically need to teleport an anti-magical being for medical purposes that would be one way of getting around it provided you had the resources.
>>
>>82235168
Is that how it works? Because I figured teleportation would be more folding two points of space-time onto each and staying on the other point when the fold collapses. That's what it looked like from Friedrich's perspective when he did. His original location and his destination appeared to be merged into one-another for a single panel. So, in the same sense that a possum can be carried by a flying car, as they are not being moved by magic but by the movement of the car, the same would apply to the teleportation. They are not being teleported. The container is, and they are moving with the container. However you want to define it, it seems like some level of "physical" movement is being implied because of all the warping going on.
>>
>>82235312
http://morbi.tumblr.com/post/143336850157/what-counts-as-magical-like-if-you-used-magic-to
Teleportation is done by slipping into a magical sphere that briefly exists between the two locations.

Also
>"Anti-magic cannot be teleported, period."
Right from the source.
>>
http://morbi.tumblr.com/post/143336850157/what-counts-as-magical-like-if-you-used-magic-to
I'm not sure if Morbi can possibly be more explicit in his explanation that opossums can't be teleported.
>>
>>82235306
It's being maintained by magic.
Magic cannot touch an opossum, so spacetime remains in its original configuration surrounding it.
An opossum walking through a magic rift would do so as if it didn't exist.

>>
>>82234963
Morbi has explicitly stated that you can't teleport possums, period. Not Poppy's type of possums anyway.
>>
>>82235306
Another problem with the "complicated system used to teleport opossums" idea is that if it did come down to using an opossum, they would just leave Renard at a stationary home instead of spending the resources to rip out the old teleportation system on virtually every teleporation system they plan to use (including one the size of a fucking city) and replace it with a new system that would only be useful for the short period in between "opossum life support" and "death/cure"

I don't care if you have an entire continent's worth of resources at your disposable, you still don't replace every single plant in a five mile radius around your palace with genetically altered versions because you have summer allergies and can't be arsed to close your windows.
>>
>>82233639
There's a cut between them descending the stairs and arriving at Kit's table, so the time between is left unspecified. The possum could have been delivered by a team using non-teleport traveling during Vix's theatrics and thereafter.

Then again, since Poppy was able to ride a flying car with Friedrich, it's obvious that there are ways of shielding magical devices from opossum magic nullification.
>>
>>82236498
>>I don't care if you have an entire continent's worth of resources at your disposable, you still don't replace every single plant in a five mile radius around your palace with genetically altered versions because you have summer allergies and can't be arsed to close your windows.

It also seems totally pointless for Renard to warp in with them in the first place if they have to deliver a special part for him to continue living anyway.

>>
>>82238808
>Never read Endtown, what's it like?
people go BAWWWWWW over it for some damn reason.

nah, in all seriousness, it's pretty decent. don't keep up with it much these days but the 'drama' has just the right weight to it I feel, the characters are fine (a bit on the tragic side), the environments are nothing out of the ordinary, though. it's set on a post-apoc sort of world where pretty much everyone left in the globe has been turned into either an anthro or a monster thing, and nazi-like gas mask thugs who go by the name of 'apex' are in charge of hunting them down and burning their homes because HUMMEN BEANS MUSTARD RAISE.

so yeah, you should give it a go. word of advice: don't go wafuing everyone you see.
>>
>>82238808
>Never read Endtown, what's it like?
Post-apocalypse, everyone is either an animal person, a horrifying semi-aware mutant, or a human immune to whatever mutated everyone else. If you're none of those things you're a human in a radiation suit trying to murder all the non-suit people and harvest their brains to run all your sci-fi shit.

I won't get further into it but suffice it to say: everyone suffers forever.
>>
>>82238356
Sounds interesting, will keep an eye out.

I want to a western frontier/ dark fantasy also.
Something similar to Hell on Wheels/Game of Thrones.
>>
>>82239024

I'll check it out.For my setting it's more like a medieval fantasy setting, with magic-based technology. But "magic" is really just radiation. I like medieval fantasy but I wanted to add a source for magic and such. And I really like those stupid theories that Ocarina of time is set after a nuclear war.
>>
>>82238808
A post-apoc comic where everyone has either been mutated into a furry or horrific monster of varying degrees of self-awareness or is stuck having to wear a biohazard suit for the rest of their lives. Pretty much everyone is suffering from mental trauma and doing their best to ignore it or distract themselves, often through violence, as they scrape by trying to pretend civilization is still functioning as they hide in shelters that are one bad day away from famine. WWIII was fought with disintegration weaponry so the setting of the comic is basically a flat, featureless desert the size of New England where nothing will grow.

Oh, and reality is wearing thin and you've got an egotistical dimension hopper manipulating people and events to suit his goals and a malevolent psychic being that thinks of itself as God.
