That's tough to read. Didn't think it real 'till I found the source myself. It's a crime that CN considers it the fault of Craig and crew rather than what actually happened: Warner Bros completely fucked up the wide-release promotion of the film. The only place I remember seeing ads for this thing was on CN itself. Fuck WB.

It used to be outright company policy to cut cartoons off at 65 episodes. Stuff like Kim Possible getting renewed after hitting that cap was a HUGE deal at the time.

65 episodes perfectly fits a 13-week/3-month weekday syndication schedule.
It's a practice Disney did for years, with very few major cartoons (stuff like Aladdin and Ducktales) getting second/third seasons, but they stopped after fans of Kim Possible gave them so much shit for cancelling it.
Now their current trend is to give a show two seasons and then cut it off. It's something they do with this live-action sitcoms too.

>The decision, according to McCracken, was made by “the higher up bosses of bosses of bosses at Disney,” who didn’t offer any specific reasons for why they didn’t want a third season. McCracken pointed out that the decision to discontinue the show was unrelated to the season two ratings, because he had been told the show wouldn’t be renewed before the second season had even premiered.

That's why CN wants to blame Craig for the failure, they think he was mishandling the movie production and the network had to save him by making the executive change.

No, it's because they made some clear plastic toys to put the PPG toys in. So they had to write it into the show.

The movie's edginess didn't feel forced. The PG was justified. If you want forced, look at the PG-rated Trransformers movie from the 80's. Besides, G-rated movies are rarer and tend to do worse than PG-rated movies.

Another big factor, IIRC, was that it came a year after the last new PPG episode and not all that long after 9/11. Seriously, the PPG movie has more destruction of buildings in it than most Roland Emmerich movies, and a lot of it's played for laughs.
>>
>>82184830
Imagine being so sensitive that you can't handle seeing a building get toppled over in a cartoon without getting triggered over muh terrorism
>>
>>82184947
That really was the atmosphere at the time. Pretty much everything that featured destruction of buildings was getting censored or canceled. Seriously, there was an episode of friggin' Friends that had to get reshot because there was a joke about a bomb at an airport. The climax of Lilo and Stitch had to get redrawn - the ship Stitch pilots was originally a stolen plane. Episodes of RID featuring buildings being destroyed were cut from syndication entirely. Even things like fires were heavily censored.

Basically, it was something that, for a lot of people, seemed too 'real' at that point to be included in fantasy. Months of hearing the death tolls being reported, raised airport security, all those kinds of things meant that watching a building get destroyed was now a big deal.

Say what you will about the war in Afghanistan/Iraq, the 9/11 terrorist attacks were definitely incredibly effective. To this day they still have the idiots in our nation cowering in fear. The Taliban lost, what, four people? And they sent the most powerful nation on the planet into the fetal position.

Same, kinda. My parents actually watched an episode or two with me and they thought it was funny. Didn't have a problem there. Now there was no way I'd want to go out in public to watch the movie.

Sorry, Craig.

It's not just a terrorism thing, it happens with natural disasters too. Lots of stuff in Japan gets cancelled/hiatus-ed/censored following large-scale destructive events.

Or think about what you could never dream of showing on television post-Columbine.

It's annoying when you're removed from it by time or space, but I guess try to imagine what it feels like to have gone through something like that. You don't want to keep seeing it in your media.

She wasn't even against it, beyond, "Yes, it's a dumb shirt, but..." The other half of that statement being, "BUT REMEMBER, we landed on a freaking COMET!!" and just trying to minimize the shirt business as it rightly should've been.

1. They made the man fucking cry over a shirt
2. Regardless of the content of it, aren't these the fucking people getting naked and putting fucking period blood on canvases and calling it art over their right of expression? Well that shirt is his right to wear. If it offends you, big fucking deal, get over it. I have to get over the public breastfeeding and the whales in god damn middrift shirts, the latter of which is actually physically offensive to my body.

I seriously see no middle ground here. The people who made a big deal about the guys shirt are the most oppressive sort we have around.

- was mildly disappointed by the shirt
- was amused by the "women in science" shirt response
- says it was an innocent faux pas on his part
- commends him for apologizing on his own, despite that

It sounds like she doesn't realize the extent to which he was bullied and pressured, and just commends him for doing it on his own.

That's fucking stupid, especially since the people who lived through 9/11 and Columbine are a handful of people and the people that had it worst are all dead. It's a terrible idea to enable this kind of thinking because it leads to shit like the TSA. People need to man up and face their bullshit and not cry that they're triggered just because the world doesn't stop moving because they witnessed something traumatic.

Newsflash: 9/11 and columbine weren't the only traumatic things to happen in American lives, and nobody really gives a shit about the other stuff. Certainly not murder or rape, which probably affects the most people.

The worst thing about this is that it made the attacks that much more successful. It incited terror, and it turned 9/11 into this big symbolic thing, which were the real goals. No, fuck her and fuck everybody that ruined this man's amazing achievement because of his choice of clothing. If a shirt with sexy drawings on it (made by a woman, no less) is enough to chase women out of science, then fuck them and good riddance.
A great, brilliant man and an even greater team of amazing scientists had what should have been their greatest moment ruined by fucking dipshit internet fucking loudmouth feminists that don't contribute a fraction to society of what Matt Taylor and the rest of his team have.

Matt Taylor didn't hurt anybody's feelings, he just did something that made insane, violent people react in an insane, violent way. Why didn't the animators just use the PPG bible for their character designs? The current designs are too modern and they clash with the obvious art-deco theme that is still in the show. Why didn't they get rid of the art-deco if they're just going to trod all over it with the modernizations?

You need to have more perspective.
If you had a childhood in general, you'd have one part of your history (teenager) where people (teens) told you "grow up kid, stop playing with baby toys, be a adult like I am, cause 90% of kids I bet would have been like this. I had, my childhood friends that were into Pokemon, Yugioh, etc had, it was the "norm" to be a "adult" by not liking "TV shows (mainly "kid" ones), card games, video games, etc", or else you were a nerd/baby.
I mean, to some credit, there even was an episode of nuPPG with the same premise when the girls went to that new school for the first time. Basically how "adult" teens behaved because it was "cool".

It varies by country, which is why I asked. But anywhere in North America (and maybe western Europe), if you were nine years old and didn't like Pokémon during its height, you were in the minority. It was almost physically impossible to not know someone who liked it.

I already gave my Texas anecdote as an example. It was popular in even the most isolated, rural parts of the US.

>Blogged Off
Bubbles creates an official blog for The Powerpuff Girls. The girls become shocked to realise someone has hacked it, and is using it to post secrets about the citizens of Townsville. The girls must find out who is responsible before even more secrets are leaked!

>Professor Weary
The girls encourage the Professor to relax more and spend less time in the lab, but he takes this too far and becomes lazy, causing the girls to regret it and try to turn him back to his old self.

>Shield Sharp
Mojo Jojo builds a superpower-proof shield to block off the girls' attacks as he attempts to take over Townsville. All hope is on Bubbles, who sets out to program a device that can disable the shield!

>The Inventables
The Professor feels his inventing skills aren't needed, so in an effort to make him feel better, the girls agree to rely less on their superpowers and use his inventions more often. Unfortunately, it doesn't go well.

>Level Frequency
When the girls visit the Townsville arcade, they are shocked to see that all the boys have suddenly turned on them, but it appears things aren't as simple as they seem.

They were a bunch of liberals who were pro freedom, they defended everybody against oppressive government. So, what I think is some lazy compositor or editor threw down an auto color corrector on a portion of the scene and failed to notice the damage before pushing to render.

Here's what happens when you apply the same effect a bit earlier in the sequence:

https://i.4cdn.org/wsg/1461579499068.webm

Note how any large changes over time in the color palette of the shot contribute to the flicker effect.

Not defending the horrible QC, just tossing some logical insight into what looks like a baffling artistic decision. Likely just another amateur mistake.

I agree with your sentiment here, but you have to remember there's no formal authority on feminism. Its entirely possible Faust got her panties in a twist over the shirt, but also doesnt approve of slutwalks and shit like that.

And there lies one of the biggest problems with (3rd wave) feminism, it can always employ the no true scotsman argument.

These types of feminists are the ones who absolutely loathe "family-type" women, those who settle down to have kids with a man they love.

They find the idea of having a child with a "pig disgusting male" revolting and essentially robbing them of their freedom.

>>82197041
She called him a great guy, praised his efforts and said the shirt was a VERY minor mistake. You're acting just as irrational and emotional as the feminists you claim to hate.
>>
>>82196954

The thing is, this brand of "man-hating" feminism began rearing it's ugly head in late 80s and early 90s, when up-and-coming, successful bachelorette businesswomen would sling shit at any woman who decides to settle down and start a family instead of pursuing a professional career; however it wasn't born out of hatred for men, but out of competitive spirit; these businesswomen saw it as "waste of potential" that other women would prefer settle down and live quietly rather than go out there and "show the men that ladies can do just as good if not even better than them". It only turned into a full-blown misandry at the turn of the century.

But I guess it could also mean she's generalizing his accomplishment to be the whole of societies rather than his team, which is kinda shitty.
>>
>>82197359
MRA has no vocal minority. They explicitly make a point to be a purely legal group. Do not trust feminist lies about them. They use 'MRA' as a cover all insult to everyone. They do not address real life MRA at all.
>>
If I were Lauren, I'd have quit that "movement". Mere association with them has proven cancerous.
>>
>>82197413
She repeatedly praises the team in the post. You people are seriously not reading it, just jumping on the fact that she might have found the shirt distasteful. And so what if she did? She didn't harass him or condone the harassment, why go after her?
>>
>>82197307

And feminists say the same thing about how "real" feminists do not sling insult and not to trust any MRA shit flinging about them.

Yet all you have to do is look at both communities and find crazies that are two sides of the same coin.

The ONLY difference is that atm, feminists get all the attention, even the crazy ones while even MRAs of the non crazy kind don't even get a proper platform to speak their issues.

>>
>>82197486
Play piggy in the middle all you want cocksmoker but feminists of all fucking people going after somebody for what they chose to wear is hysterically hypocritical
>>
>>82197338
I think Phineas and Ferb's longevity has more to do with the lack of decent cartoons to replace it. Now that Gravity Falls is gone, Disney would have no decent cartoons if P&F ended.
>>
>>82197536
>Because insisting he is to blame at all is the same as
>he was asking for it

Unless she didn't know he received harassment over it. Given that she calls it a 'tiny mistake' that seems to be the case. You people are glossing over the fact that she is talking to other feminists in defense of him and trying to shift focus to the actual achievements.
>>
>>82197485
Except there is actual proof of feminism being an anti male group. Their 'moderates' advocate misandry daily.

MRA has no such thing. They made it a political point to not use insults and there are now whacks advocating female hate.

There is no such thing as 'two sides of the same coin'. That is another lousy feminist lie. I think feminism will be bettered it they can stop playing these stupid games about MRAs, but I lose faith in them daily. The fact is that MRA do not engage feminism. But feminism wants to shit fling MRA constantly as they consider any genuine gender equality to be a threat. They even consider every dissent as 'MRA'. Essentially a scapegoat label.
>>
>>82197485
I have never met a real MRA who actually endorsed anti female hate. That really does sound like the shit feminism created because they can't stand anyone talking about men having any say in gender issues. While I already met several radical feminist psychos. And the mainstream media is pushing it more and more.
>>
>>82197486

> muh middle ground fallacy

The guy was kind of a sperg for wearing that shirt, but what pissed me off is how big of an issue it became, to the point it drowned out what he accomplished

Like, we landed on a comet, and pretty much everyone heard about it in the context of "LOOK HOW SEXIST THIS FUCKING SHITLORD IS oh and yeah I guess we landed on a comet"
>>
>>82197599

Come to think about it, "MRA" has become an all encompassing label of everything they hate. You don't even need to actually believe in Men's Rights to be called that. Hell, even other feminists who don't toe the line of crazies get called that label. For all their hate towards places like 4chan, they seem to adopt their habit of misusing a word until it loses all meaning. Like how /v/ uses "cuck".
>>
>>82197444
Didn't the My Little Pony people openly denounce gender demagogues?
>>
>>82197635

Given how feminists misuse the MRA label quite liberally, I wouldn't be surprised that they are referring to places like Return of Kings or MGTOW and call them "MRA" because reasons.

>>82197877
/r9k/ please, not all women are feminists. you're not supposed to justify the stupid bullshit they're saying, you're supposed to prove them wrong.
>>
>>82197922
She called it an innocent faux pas. That's the kind of thing you say when someone wears a neon tuxedo shirt to a funeral, in that it's tacky and dumb, but whatever, it's just a shirt.

Why commend him for apologizing, then? Well, because that's what adults do. If they offend some unmoving force, sometimes they'll just say "sorry" and try to move on, even if they did nothing wrong. It's called being the bigger man, and it's usually a trait to be admired, which Lauren seems to've done here. (Never mind that he was harassed and almost lost his job, which she doesn't seem to realize. She's talking about it as an act of maturity, not something that was coerced.)

So she's probably guilty of some ignorance, and trying to address things without having all the facts. That's a far cry from frothing-at-the-mouth misandry, though.
