Yes, she was the prettiest one. Personally I find Sadness the cutest one. I think the movie could be a little longer, flesh out more Anger Fear and Disgust and have more parents emotions segments. But maybe I think like that just because I'm older and kids would enjoy more the way it was.

We get a really good idea of each emotion's function in the filme. Sadness breeds empathy and lets other people know something's wrong. Angers breeds passion, Joy breeds optimism, and Fear breeds caution.

With Disgust, we never get an idea for her beyond broccoli is gross. There should've been a scene where Riley finds a PERSON repulsive, so we et the idea that Disgust doesn't just keep Riley safe from toxic substances, it keeps her safe from toxic attitudes and ideas.

You can't assign specific emotions to separate characters and still have all of them strive for happiness, it's retarded. Like I said, if the other emotions had to work together to make her happy, you'd have had some sort of an actual story. Now all we had was ''Riley can't be happy because the character who presses the happy button got lost in a maze, and learns that the best way to exit the maze was to use sadness''

Which makes sense if you use it as a metaphor, sure. But in the movie itself the existence of Joy as a separate character breaks all sense.

To say, the only reason Joy ends up working together with the other emotions is that if she ever gets sucked out into the maze again, she might need one of them to find her way back, and she'd have to be on good terms with them.

Way to misunderstand the whole concept. Her other emotions still exist, they just don't manifest themselves. If Joy did that Riley would keep trying to be happy and not actually being happy until she can't anymore and Riley start not giving a fuck (the control panel becomes gray and unresponsible). The movie concept is fine, your understanding that isn't.

Joy isn't happiness, just like Sadness isn't depression/unhappiness. Joy alone can't afford for true happiness, there needs to be the other emotions. In fact, all of them can bring happiness to Riley in their own way: Sadness can bring through love and reatachment; Fear can bring it through tranquility; Anger can bring through pride/self-rightousness; Disgust can bring contempt.

Joy seems to be the main one that brings happiness to Riley not because she's "happiness", it's because she's the lead emotion in Riley's head, basically the emotion that was useful most of the time in Riley's life (which implies she didn't have many problems in her life that needed Sadness, Anger, Fear or Disgust. she's prety lucky).

Emotions bring happiness when they do what they were made to do. Joy's purpose is to find happiness. Sadness' purpose is to (re)attach oneself to things worthy of caring about. Fear's purpose is to bring tranquility. Anger's purpose is to bring fairness and indepedence. Disgust does some more of Anger's and Fear's purpose.
Joy's form on unhappy situations is Boredom and Mania too, so she can't be "happy" all the time.

I completely agree that this concept should have been focused more, but Riley's Anger, Fear and Sadness are emotions she rarely had to deal with so that's why they don't know how to act on their own or how to cope with a negative situation like Joy usually does, they're imature emotions.

The emotions simply act irrationally because they were overshadowed by Joy and thus they don't really know how to do it in a more sophisticated way, that's a very interesting in the movie.

Riley doesn't use the "negative-focused" emotions because she rarely dealt with negative situations and when Joy is confronted with a situation that Sadness instinctivelly needs to solve, she tries to force itself in and it ends in her not handling it at all. It is a good way of explaining emotional maturity.
