I fucking loved the first one, but this one wasn't even good on its own standards.

The music wasn't as catchy, the story didn't really progress at all, and the whole thing felt like it was trying to live off of the glory of the first one.

If the intend is to make a full story out of the whole album, then it's normal to have change of pacing.

It's clear the first video was a one shot (not even an official one) meant to be a self-contained story. A pilot, so to speak, but with now becoming the a legit production with the backing of the musicians, he is aiming at a length story and using this song as more of an establishing lore.

Ithink we'll have to judge the whole of it once it's completely done. The actual action will take place in the next animation, if this video here is any indication.

I honestly I'm not sure I ever fully understood the appeal of the first video to begin with. The animation was had some effort put into it for sure (but nothing that knocked my socks off), and the character designs are cute for Scooby Doo homages. But that's all I can figure, and don't get what caused the video to explode the way it did. Also why the hell wasn't this new video released closer to Halloween like the first one was?

In all seriousness, Mystery Skulls is a fantastic band and I definitely recommend giving them a listen. They're based in Dallas (Houstonfag here) and I saw one of their early shows near Ft. Worth in 2011 and it was fucking amazing. Download their 2011 self titled album, it's great.
