Why was this movie so good?
It wasn't.

Tell my why it wasn't.
>>81871036
focused too much on call backs and fan service rather than giving a strong story. Also the Snoopy bits were terrible.
>>81870761
Just having Violet as a character is good enough for me.
I'll assume they wanted Frieda to be creepy as shit
Still havn't watched some of the flying ace scenes. Never plan too. Snoopy is a shit
>>81871334
>>81871389
Why the hate for Snoopy?
>>81871474
I don't hate snoopy but he was the movie's "wacky mascot" that most animated kid films have. The Dancing, the out of place humour, it's below a long time loved character like Snoopy and yet they gave that to him.
>>81871474
Because the main story was far more interesting and the time could have been used on interactions with the other kids.
Hell, I liked the movie and I will gladly say that the snoopy parts were padding.
>>81871474
He was too "cartoony" and his scenes were boring. What's the point of him even having fantasies when he's totally ungrounded IRL?
Lucy has very fancy hadwriting apparently
>>81871389
Why Is she always represented as wearing a monotone dress with giant seams when it's so obvious she's wearing a shirt/vest combo? The graphic novels got it right, it can't have been that hard to animate and they changed the colour for the movie so it's not a continuity thing. Is there any good reason?
>>81871036
Charlie isn't supposed to "get the girl'
The whole point of his character is that he's supposed to represent the loneliness that we all feel at some point in our lives.
By having him "get the girl" it ruins the character and removes the tragic relatable-ness of his character
>>81871334
>focused too much on call backs and fan service rather than giving a strong story
...what? It's Charlie Brown, not Citizen Kane, the story was faithful to how original Peanuts would handle it. It may not have been strong by your purposefully vague definition, but it was still good.
>>81876586
The movie was a send off to the series in general, having Charlie Brown go full Gurren Lagaan and achieve the unachievable is the ultimate form of closure. He's already had entire comic strip arcs, movies, and specials dedicated to his screw-ups (and to an extent even this movie counts as such until the very end), there's nothing wrong with throwing him a bone every once in a blue moon. Not even Schulz himself was that cruel.
>>81878597
>not even Schulz himself was that cruel
I beg to differ, though I agree with what you are saying 100%.
>>81871586
>it's below a long time loved character like Snoopy and yet they gave that to him
That was literally his role in every single Peanuts incarnation, have you seen anything Peanuts related in your life? He was the comedic sidekick before they even became popular. Seriously, what was so out of character for Snoopy you thought it was degrading for him? Because I assure you anything he did in the movie he's already done elsewhere.
>>81872075
>What's the point of him even having fantasies when he's totally ungrounded IRL?
Because he's was always like that? Go back to It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, because that Snoopy isn't any different from the movies.
>>81878719
I'm not saying Schulz wasn't harsh, but when it comes to Charlie Brown himself he wasn't completely heartless. Even he let him win a game every once in a while and let him be the hero. My point is that he was willing to let him have his day in the sun, just not too often. BUt it did happen, so saying he should never win is ridiculous. It just feels like so far, a lot of the criticism is coming from contrarians trying to start stuff. It wasn't perfect, but they're focusing on the wrong things.

He spend most of his strips being some world famous shit, why is this people shitting on him about that?
>>81870761 (OP)
The conversion from 2D to 3D was god-tier. It was the comic strip in every sense, but given a third dimension.
It was fun, light-hearted, and faithful to the original source material almost to a fault.
And fuck you haters, Snoopy (and Woodstock) was fucking AWESOME! Loved every single scene he was in.
This is a movie I can easily put on as I wind down for bed.
Bump
>>81870761
It's pretty much just "The Best of Peanuts"
>>81871334
>>81881753
When I first watched the movie I sort of phased out during the Snoopy parts paying not much attention. But after a few rewatches, there's actually much more going on in the Snoopy arcs then I remembered.
I also like to think that the Snoopy parts were meant to paralell Charlie Brown's struggle in a more simplistic and kid-friendly way.
>>81876586
>he got the girl
He didn't get the girl anymore than he did at the end of "You're a Good Man" She just says he's a nice guy before leaving town on a bus. She even uses the classic friendzone combo of "funny" and "sweet"
At least she promised to write to him about the fun time she was going to have with the Franklins at Summer camp as part of their compulsary shared homework right?
>>81883072
But there's not enough crippling realities uttered by the kids.
>>81872306
I think it's just the standard of handwriting everyone in Peanuts had.
>>81885619
This is true. I wish for the classically barbed responses everyone gave in the comic.
>>81885677
How many charcters hadwriting do we even see?
>>81886510
forgot pic
>>81876586
You do realize Charlie Brown had a girlfriend, right? She ended up dumping him right at the end, but it has happened. There was also a girl who liked him at his dance classes.
>>81878899
>Even he let him win a game every once in a while and let him be the hero.
Prove it!!
>>81870761
I never watched or read any Peanut related cartoons or books, but first time out of curiosity I decided to watch the movie. Felt comfy and the story seems nice. Would watch again desu
>>81888055
There were only minor changes. Franklin, Marcy, and Peppermint Patty don't go to the same school as the other kids, and Linus is Lucy's younger brother, so he shouldn't be in the same class as her and Charlie Brown.
>>81878899
Charlie Brown's greatest flaw is that he can't accept being just OK. He needs to be excellent and that's why he fails. He keeps putting himself in leadership positions he isn't able to fill, trying to get a home run everytime he hits the baseball, insists on making the BEST EVAR projects and refuses to believe he can be loved because the LRHG isn't constantly slobbering over him. If he lowered his expectations of himself he'd be much better off.
>>81887855
I think won twice in 1993, because the other team's pitcher wanted him to. Overall he helps the team most by not playing.
>>81887855
Fuck off
>>81888173
Charles Shulz got moved up two years in school, the same thing might have happened to Linus.
>>81888817
Also It's not like Patty and Violet or even Lucy should be in CB's class either
>>81878597
Thank you anon.
Snoopy was so shit that nobody noticed how shit Schroeder was
Post cute families
>>81891930
What would the 3rd Brown sibling be like?
>>81892362
Woodstock
>>81893390
V2.0
>>81894259
Would look better with "Walls" instead now that I think about it
>>81888551
He should've found another sport to play.
>>81888624
Thank you very much indeed, kind Anon.
>>81896368
Charlie Brown changing his behaviour to suit reality would be the most OOC thing possible. You may as well just say he shouldn't try to kick the football.
I would've have much prefered this to be the ending of the movie.
>>81899261
But they don't even play baseball in the movie
>>81899353
Baseball season starts in the Summer
>>81885619
Honestly this is a bit of a shame, since it seemed like such a missed opportunity for humor. Although the tone in general was far more positive than anything Peanuts related, so it might have stood out like a sore thumb anyway.
>>81899971
Why is there so little art of any of these characters? It's been 65 years
>>81903216
A lot of people don't know most Peanuts characters outside the specials.
Also, I once saw a Tumblr post of someone complaining early peanuts is misogynist
>>81904036
>>81904036
There isn't much on the rest of the characters either. There's some wierd foot fetish stuff but that's about it. There can't be more than a handful of HQ peanuts fanarts.
Link of curiosity to the tumblr post?
>>81904827
>peanuts fetish art
>>81899971
Who are these characters? I know most characters in peanuts, but I'm drawing a blank here.
>>81905928
Violet and Patty man, except their characters skins have changed a lil bit, I still like the image tho

Peanuts always went the inspirational quote route instead of the fan art one for some reason.
You will not find any unless is with some words or hearts around

That's the strip they took issue with?

or feet I guess

The exact moment I stopped listening to /co/'s opinion on anything.
>>81906996
But Anon, that's woman empowering, Patty should have never left the strip, it's a good thing Lucy became a thing, she can always rule every man like every woman should.
