Next week's episode was released early on digital platforms. I'm not sure how many people have seen it, or if it will end up getting ripped, but I figured we could have a thread none-the-less. It's an interesting episode, as it has talking gazelles in it. Normally, gazelles are depicted as little more than mindless animals because they're the ones that Kion and Fuli eat.

The episode reminds me a lot of The Great Divide from Avatar, only less shitty. Kion is tasked with leading two groups of animals to a new field and things go wrong along the way. A lady gazelle and lady zebra were in charge of their respective groups - the lady zebra was pregnant and gives birth at the end.

Bunga and the lady zebra bond throughout the episode, after she sits on him at the start, and she asks him to stay by her when she gives birth. Makes him uncomfortable, but it was kind of cute, I guess.

Fuli didn't do much in the episode, but I found it amusing she got defensive when Kion asked her what should be done when the zebra went into labor. She had no idea and questioned why Kion asked her. Normally, female characters always know all about childbirth.

Only two gazelles actually talked in the episode. The lady who was in charge of the group and this guy here. The guy is also the one Fuli is sitting on in the one I posted earlier. The gazelle in the OP is the lady.

These threads never last that long on the best of days. On an off-weak, with a digital episode, I'm not surprised it's fading this fast. I don't think /co/ will care about this show again until Jasiri shows back up or we get to the Kovu and Vitani episode.

Ratings.

>The first-year original series, a revival of the Disney animated classic “The Lion King,” averaged a best-yet 2.6 million viewers and 1.5 million kids 2-11 (3.8 rating) for its March 25 episode, according to Nielsen’s “live plus-7” estimates. The show also hit six-week highs in other categories, including kids 2-5 (823,000/5.3 rating), boys 2-5 (473,000/6.0 rating) and women 18-49 (479,000/0.8 rating).

>The growth among kids demos as well as women 18-49 is indicative of the show’s popularity among families. Roughly 45% of preschoolers (2-5) watching “The Lion Guard” do so with an adults 18-49, making it the most co-viewed series on cable television.

>Launch to date, “The Lion Guard” has reached over 36 million total viewers, including 6.9 million kids 2-5, representing nearly half of all U.S. preschoolers living in television homes. Last year, the original movie prequel “The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar” ranked as the No. 1 primetime cable TV telecast of the year among kids 2-5 (1.7 million/11.1 rating), and was the No. 1-rated animated telecast across kid cable-TV networks among total viewers (6.1 million), adults 18-49 (2.1 million/1.6 rating) and kids 2-11 (3.0 million/7.7 rating).

What's with animals tackling others to the ground in this show?
>>
>>81858974
In that context, she was trying to save him from the flood and tackled him out of the way. But in a broader sense, they can't show a lot of scratching and biting. It's still for little kids. So most of the animals fight by tackling one another with the occasional headbutt or uppercut.

So how y'all like the show
>>
>>81860779
The movie was garbage, so I'm glad that the show is actually decent. The long format allows them to actually tell stories - it makes no sense to me that Cartoon Network's continuity filled PG cartoons are only eleven minutes long when a Disney Junior cartoon gets 22 minutes to flesh out its stories.

Mufasa's ghost needs to go away. Kion needs to stop constantly doing his "pride land defends" catchphrase. Those are the only things about the show that I really dislike.
>>
Do animals actually get eaten on this show, or nah?
>>
>>81861072
Insects are the only ones who are eaten on-screen. There are tons of references to other animals getting eaten, and Fuli tried to kill and eat a number of gazelles, but she always failed.

I doubt they'll ever show a character getting killed or eaten. There was a dead elephant in one episode, but nobody was eating it and it was already dead.
>>
>>81861481
And by this, I don't mean the carnivores eat the insects. Fuli and Kion aren't munching them down. Fuli hates insects. But other characters do eat them on-screen.
>>

Alright thanks, I figured as much.
>>
I'll bump this one more time. I'll probably make a thread next week when the episode officially premieres, but I doubt it will last very long either.

To each their own. I guess she became less of a bitch at the very end of the episode, but even halfway through, after Kion saved her life, she still criticized his leadership and made him feel bad.
>>
>>81859687
I wish Kiara was more childish in this cartoon. Her being all official bothers me.

Where are the WEB-DL's past episode 7? In fact where are the HDTV rips past episode 11?

Today's episode was episode 12. The mega has all of the others.

I think the thread will boom when that happens. Wasn't Vitani a big deal back when /co/ was new?
>>

So they say.
>>
There still hasn't been much art made for the show, not even on deviantart and tumblr. It's really not getting much attention anywhere.
>>
One last bump. Hey, I know I said that before, but the thread was only a few hours old at that point. I like this show and wish people would talk about it, so you can't blame a guy for trying.

Maybe the guy who uploads the episodes will see this thread and get the mega updated. I doubt it, but at least then people could watch the new episode.

I'm ignoring that image for the most part, but I was surprised they didn't have that pup get redeemed. He was chased out of the pride lands like his parents, and he never really questioned the morality of their actions after her mom assured him it was fine.

I respect the show for that. The characters don't always do what you would expect them to do. It doesn't always follow the cliches.

When I first saw this Jackal kid show up and started to speak,I really truly honestly thought they were going to do an autism episode.

Thank god I was wrong.
