The end of Homestuck has really struck a chord with me.

Started reading during the middle of Act 2, hooked me from the very beginning. I never took part in the fandom because it looked autistic as fuck, but I don't any other work of art in any medium can properly imitate the same sense of adventure I felt reading Acts 1-5.

And now it's over and I'm left feeling empty. I don't give a shit about the fandom and I never even post in /hsg/, Homestuck was always just a solo thing for me. But I want so badly to be apart of that world, to recapture that sense of adventure I felt when I first started reading. I'm thinking about creating my own comic, but I want to know what it was about Homestuck that made people feel like they were actually part of the adventure. Why was it so god damn cozy?

I used to have 50,000 posts on a fucking really weird, small, Homestuck forum. There were only about 50 posters on the entire board.

For some reason I literally roleplayed as Eridan (the fish who was a moirail to Feferi Peixes) in every single fucking post. I remember that the other posters would say things like 'post your bone bulge again for me Eri' with a picture of Feferi and I would do it (after using photoshop to make my dick gray).

I was basically a fucking sex slave for 50,000 posts. I remember on one occasion a girl came onto the board and I really liked her, but instead of talking to her like a normal human I tried to pick her up by writing an extensive, 1200 word post describing the backrub I gave to Feferi Peixes.

I hate that part of my life almost as bad as this current one.

The best places to find out about established meetups for communities would be facebook, tumblr, or the official forum. I'm guessing you were at the Game Show? If there were 50,000 congoers, I bet there was a meetup (unless it was completely devoid of cosplay). Post on the FB group and ask for meetup details when the con gets closer!

thanks! uhm aside from reference studying other art styles is really important. you can end up getting really stale by only drawing and perfecting your style, i found that redrawing(just for practice, never to post) other artists work really helps you break into new territory. looking at how they tackle things adds variety to your mental process of drawing. I particularly like this persons work, its so dynamic and inspiring. the gesture work is incredible

Back in my sophomore year of high school, I had to take an "intro to 2d " art class for me to be able to put into photography for my junior year, and there was this one pretty cute girl (although she was a freshman) that always had this sketch pad with her.
One day I'm sitting with her and some other people at one of the tables since there was no real fixed sitting, and I see her drawing some Dave Tav stuff.

I've been watching A Lullaby for Gods a bunch lately and it got me wondering; as visually impressive as Act 7 was, why the fuck wasn't there more dynamic character movement? Everybody's either standing around, shifting, breathing, or walking. Pretty sharp contrast compared to ALfG's sweeping, almost flailing character movements.

Yet another disappointment I'm going to have to come to terms with.
