I understand it when people get into legit technobabble but writers have people use the line with fairly simple shit, which is annoying.

Like someone will say something like
>we opened a wormhole to a parallel dimension
>ENGLISH PLEASE
>>
>>81827012
Or when the nerd says something in nerdy voice and gets that reaction, but it's just some fucking regular-ass vaguely scientific sounding thing that's common knowledge.

>How long will it take?
>Ten minutes.
>You've got five.
>Well I guess we'll all fucking die then, won't we? I said ten minutes because I need ten minutes. Why do you think I would lie to you and say I need twice as much time as I actually need in this stressful, life-threatening situation? You are such an asshole.

For some reason most technobabble makes perfect sense to me. Obviously it doesn't hold up under a microscope but I can see what they're saying and their plans/theories. But most writers don't even try to have it make sense. Huh.

For the last time, OP, I don't know how insecure you are about your intelligence to be triggered by such a stupid thing, but excessive use of jargon is 100% the type of thing that people should be called out on. Jargon exists to smooth over communication between two highly specialized individuals with similar knowledge sets and frequently encounter similar scenarios which are difficult to describe using common language. And when a specialist uses jargon to communicate with non-specialists they are failing at communication. They have ceased speaking the popular language of English and started speaking some esoteric dialect.

>MC is a superhero or some shit
>constantly keeps 'inexplicably' dropping out of their own social life at the drop of a dime (always at the worst possible time, naturally) for superhero business with either bullshit excuses or straight-up no explanation to whoever's in their company
>nobody is ever suspicious this weird loner faggot who keeps randomly walking out on them for days/hours at a time, they just get disappointed or mad or something for easy melodrama
This shit is unbearable. Why not just have an excuse planned ahead of time encase does something randomly turns up? Why not ignore shit you're by no means obligated to rush into until an opportunity comes up to make an inconspicuous exit whenever possible, or have a friend who's "in the know" help bail you out so whoever you're dealing with doesn't get the wrong impressions from you? This kind of extended plot thread is always feels so hamfisted and awkward. Why do cartoons and comics keep doing this?
