Lord English doesn't die, if that's what you mean, but we do see what happens to him and Vriska. Hell, it's even a callback.

The A1/A2 universe ended when Spades Slick used Caliope's weapon, fired a smooth white bullet like a cue ball at Sn0wman, whose icon is the eightball. She sinks, and that's the end of the game, that's the end of the universe.

The B1/B2 universe ended when Vriska deploys the smooth white juju at Lord English, whose crazy eyes are eightballs. They sink into the black hole that muse!Calliope made, and that's the end of the game, and the universe.

But! Lord English can't be killed. So he is ensnared, the same as Caliborn ensnared the four kids, ensnared in the juju (along with Vriska it looks like). Remember when John stuck his arm into the house, and his arm showed up EVERYWHERE along the story, retroactively changnig prevoius pages? Where have we seen that house shape before? EVERYWHERE.

The house juju is the story. The story we're reading.

When Caliborn sucked the four kids into the house, that made them the main parts of the story. They were the main characters. it was a story about John, Dave, Rose and Jade because Caliborn put them there. Hell, we saw Caliborn's shitty drawings in that "has been a complete waste of time" picture because Caliborn was fucking around with adding his art to the story.

When Vriska deployed the juju, we saw the four kids were still in the story... and then they weren't. They passed through the white house's door on the lillypad, and left the story. We can't see them because the house juju is the only way we could see them, by reading the story on the website. Now Lord English is in the juju, and that makes him the main villain of the story. and I think Vriska was sucked into the house too, making her "the most important character in the story" which was a joke but now it looks like some joke-not-joke narrative retroactive shennanigans.

This is why Cascade was a much more fulfilling conclusion. At that point all of the characters were still emotionally invested in the main conflict and the stakes were clear. The threat of Lord English was too abstract, because we only saw him interact with fake worlds filled with doppelgangers that we were trained to not care about.

I think the solution, is to try to conceive of a system beyond ideals and conceptualizations, that sort of conceptualizes them in itself. Meta-narratives maybe? Something that compartmentalizes ideals so have a more meaningful reference to them outside our lexicon.

I've been reading since Act 2.
I never really involved myself in the fandom be it the MSPA forums, /hsg/ or Tumblr but I always followed the comic.

Back then everything was so mysterious. Even though Hussie was just filling up details of a very rough plan on the fly you still didn't get that impression from the comic.

I still remember thinking what a cool and original concept everything was. I still remember how fun the first John walkaround was, how funny alchemization was...

Then it got a bit weird when he introduced all the trolls but still the plot was kicking.

By Act 6 after the retcon and all the pauses I just realized that Hussie sort of lost his momentum and couldn't really deliver a good payoff to the story. This is especially apparent learning about all the mess he had with TOG legal troubles etc.

I was expecting a shit ending (especially considering all the glaring faults in these last few updates as we were leading up to it) but i was still equally dissapointing to me.

If I could go back in time I honestly would tell myself to just not even bother with the story.
