The GOAT single strip gag
That is a damn good strip. I laughed good and hard.
Got any more?
>>81734876
The fourth panel is superfluous, just add the mom collapsing with laughter into the third.
>inb4 how dare you insult our lord Waterson
This is obviously from the time when he still hadn't had freedom to play with the panels. So this strip has a flaw which makes the claim of it being the GOAT dubious.
>>81738227
nah man, the dad's reaction makes the strip.
>>81738227
Well, it IS autism awareness month...
>>81738227
I'm sure this is at least past the halfway point of him working on C&H. The strip ended in like, 1996 or something.
It works just fine as it is. I suppose if you want to sperg over it, it would technically still be fine with the fourth panel, just remove the dialogue.
But not every comic has to be condensed down to component parts just because.
>>81738227
>The fourth panel is superfluous, just add the mom collapsing with laughter into the third.
Turn it into a clusterfuck, why don't you?
Mom's reaction is only as GOAT as it is because Calvin has left the scene and it's a private moment between the parents
>>81738227
the mom is obviously laughing after calvin has left the room to maintain her position of authority, so a new panel is required for the passing of time
plus, there wouldn't be room for the dad's comment
>>81734876
Fixed
Geez why those comicucks can't into punch line?
>>81738728
Now remove "superfluous dialogue" like autists always do
>>81738791
>glasses?
>haven't seen
>miserable builds character
Remove second panel for extra autism.
There, I "fixd" it.
>>81738791
Better?
>>81738728
here, now it's perfect
>>81738865
11/10
>>81738865
>tfw there are probably autists who actually think the punchline is that Calvin has the glasses, and that this is an acceptable version
I want to die.
>>81738853
no. it's worse. the actual punchline is not Calvin's joke, it's the mom laughing at it.
>>81738907
>who actually think the punchline is that Calvin has the glasses
Is there more punchlines that that?
>>81738853
>>81738865
>>81738987
Calvin's impression of his dad is spot on
You wouldn't know how accurate the notion is unless the mom is collapsed on the floor
>>81738865
Get on my level scrub
>>81739052
>You wouldn't know how accurate the notion is unless the mom is collapsed on the floor
Do you have asperger syndrome son?
>>81739054
Surely this is all that's needed
I've never understood the appeal of Calvin & Hobbes. It's like it's trying to say something profound while still being as bland and inoffensive as possible. Some strips are okay, but I've never once laughed at any of them.
>>81738998
Perfect
>>81739184
The kid is superfluous. Never forget the heart of the joke: the glasses.
>>81739252
>glasses
>not glass
Brevity: Wit
>>81739252
Why include the arms of the glasses?
>>81734876
>The GOAT single strip gag
>implying
>>81738987
The imitation of his Dad, followed by his mother's hysterical reaction. The humor comes from satirizing the Dad's parenting, but from their point of view instead of Calvin's. If the punchline was just "Calvin has the glasses", there wouldn't even be a joke. It'd be a statement of fact. Autists try to follow the logical situation, and arrive at the conclusion that the humor comes from the fact that the physical glasses are not in their usual spot. They are incapable of grasping humor, and try to logically determine where it must be located, rather than follow the flow of events and understand the innate humor in the interaction between Calvin and his parents.
I think I may be autistic now from explaining all that.
>>81739547
>11 panels
Disgusting. Might as well be reading a novel.
>>81739547
D-did he just kill him? Birds are assholes
>>81739438
Can you cut that down more? I don't need the glasses' life story here.
fixed
>>81738446
The dad's comment shouldn't be there. It serves no purpose.
>>81739674
Sure mate
>People actually think to be better than Motherfucking Watterson by posting edited version of this strip
Glad you're not working in the sector you bunch of brats
>>81741103
it's a drawing it's not something sacred
>>81741103
I feel like you maybe should have realized this was facetious right around here
>>81739252
>>81741236
I may have gone a little too far
>>81738227
>I know more about comedic timing in comic strips than the creator of Calvin and Hobbes.
Kill yourself.
>>81739884
put loss in the first speech bubble and I'm sold.
>>81738227
man cad did a real number on this site didn't it
>>81740675
I want to repost this every time someone wants to change a comic
>>81739547
Jesus christ, Donald.
honestly I have no idea
>>81740049
The fact Dad concedes that the imitation wasn't off the mark makes it funnier.
>>81739547
Fixed it.
I love you sarcastic mother fuckers.
