And let's be honest, there's only one logical reason that the writers put in that detail. It's more logical to say that they're married than to say that they're adoptive brothers living in the same apartment away from home for some reason.

Their arguing through the walls is also an indirect reference to "Shut Up Little Man," an infamous series of a recordings of a gay couple living in San Francisco in the 80s.
