Yeah, it's true that Frisk has the power to turn back time, but they don't have any thematic connection to the Time aspect. A Time player is bound by causality and is meant to keep things on the "right" track, by closing predestined time loops. Frisk's ability to Save and Reset doesn't work like time travel in Homestuck; it shifts reality back to a previous state, without creating an alternate doomed timeline or dooming the time traveller, and there's no single predestined "future" that things travel back from.

Frisk's powers are based more on Determination, which more than anything resembles the aspect of Hope. The Collide flash was the climax for pretty much every story arc in the comic, with all the years of buildup behind it and several unexplored elements (Fraymotifs, for one) suddenly coming up. As for the "Muse" part of the Muse of Hope... Frisk doesn't actually do much in Undertale. Mostly they just try to survive and make friends with monsters. For the most part, they don't directly change anything.

What Frisk really does is inspire people. The friendship sidequests inspire monsters to be better people by overcoming their issues, mostly by Frisk being there to witness their development. The ACT mechanics convince people to stop attacking, that they don't need to be violent. Even in the ending, Frisk's friendship inspires Flowey/Asriel to break the barrier and free the monsters, something they thought was impossible, using the power of every soul in the underground... except for Frisk's own. Frisk doesn't change anything directly, but they are the catalyst by which monsters can change themselves.

That's why Frisk is the Muse of Hope. They entered a place where there was no hope, and inspired the people to make an impossible dream into a reality.

see, the thing about assigning frisk a classpect, is that it's not possible, because frisk is only a medium for the player, frisk acts according to the player's instructions, unlike the other characters, who may be influenced by frisk but still have their own personality, frisk is just, you, so frisks classpect is yours, and obviously nobody can have every classpect, so it's not possible to assign one.

Frisk does have their own identity, though. That's part of the point of the True Pacifist route. They only seem like a personality-less avatar at first, but in that route the character slowly begins to act on their own and show distinctive traits. The whole thing comes to a head in the final battle, with Frisk having so much Determination that they can revive themselves instantly without even asking the player, and ultimately being revealed to have their own name separately from the one the player entered. A major part of the ending's theme is Frisk being their own person and having their own life.

Plus, there's another thing about Classpects to take into account. They aren't just personality tests, they represent a person's mythological role in the game; as Kanaya mentioned, they're sort of like challenges that a person may or may not live up to. Frisk is the Muse of Hope because that is their role in Undertale, but it's up to you, the player, to live up to that role.

Anyone here from old HSG? What's changed in your life since that time, and how have your feelings on Homestuck changed with it? Do you miss HSG, or are you glad it's all over?
