Continued from >>81482303 it's the Shocking conclusion of Spencer/Lieber's hysterical criminal comedy!

Who will live?
Who will get the tar beaten out of them?
Who will get the head of Silvio Silvermane?

You better still be strapped in...

Remember tomorrow is the release of The Fix. Go out and buy it if you like this type of story.

Hey Steve, if you're here, I got a question for you. I'm tired of waiting for you to come to Vancouver Canada, so I managed to get tickets for a friend and I to Emerald City Comic con.

I'm definitely getting a commission from you, but I'm not sure what to get. I love Venom and all sorts of symbiotes and was originally going to ask you for a bust of Shocker if he had a symbiote on (Venom symbiote or your own original, doesn't matter).

However, I thought art of Mania from the last few issues of Agent Venom would be really cool. She hasn't been seen since and it would be cool to see some art of her from a real marvel artist, but at the same time, it feels weird asking for non superior foe related from you since that's where I know you from.

Do you have a preference? I'm trying to save money right now so I don't want to spend too much and get 2 commissions.

>>
>>81492120
>can tank a penance stare and beat Ghost Rider in a fistfight
>can't beat Shocker when he's riding in a Spider-Buggy rip-off
>>
This is a great book but I feel like I'm not getting half the references.
>>
>>81492957
I mean, the Penance Stare's got no kinetic force to it. It's all supernatural, spirit bullshit.

The Shocker literally shoots waves of kinetic energy at people. Unless you're the Blob or super, super heavy, you don't tank it. At least not by standing still. Obviously, the Punisher tanked it in a way because he probably walked it off, but him being blasted away is fine.

Not that the first thing isn't bullshit. The Punisher gets a lot of slack in crossovers, so it's nice to see him get it a bit for once. And they didn't even really humiliate him. Punisher gets blasted all the time. He'll be back up murdering criminals in no time.
>>
>>81492957
>>81493793
Punisher tanked the Penance Stare because he's backed by angels, and so is Ghost Rider. He's protected against that.

Or they are both backed by Hell and the stare cancels out because of that, I don't keep up with retcons anymore, but I recall both of them working on heavens side at some point.

Punisher was empowered by Satan (old testament "kill them all and let YHWH sort them out" Satan), at least as of Born.
>>
So this is legitimately the best spider-related thing I've ever read.
Is the rest of Superior even remotely this good? I've been looking for a jumping-on point for modern Spidey.
>>
>>81495455
Don't read the main book, it was only worthwhile when scanbro was leaking them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljw8FMz17og
I think it was Ewing that had a good Superior book.
>>
>>81495411
That was in the MAX series. In 616 he was powered by angels, I think.

It's an obscure reference and I'm beginning to think that it was just a fan-explanation for the shitty writing in Thunderbolts where he tanked the penance stare because "I don't regret anything".
>>
>>81495455
The main-line Spider books haven't been worth reading since Spider Island.
Depending on how far back your definition of modern goes the JMS run that started in 2001 might be a good place to start. More recently Their have been good spin-off spider books like Scarlet Spider and 2099.
Superior is readable and interesting for about ten issues but the plot bend over backward to justify Otto and maintain his cover that the whole thing gets super dumb.

Pic related sums up the mainline Superior books tremendously well.

As with any of Slott's material, it's better written when out of his hands.
See:
Scarlet Spider, Silk, Spock in any book outside Superior Spider-man
>>
I've never actually read the whole thing through.

Aww, someone finally bought that page from Steve's etsy. Surprised the Mirage sex panel is still there despite the price tag.
>>
>>81495925

In 616 a Hell-lord manipulated him into becoming the Punisher, which he discovered in those two minis where he was imbued with a angel's divine essence.

>It's an obscure reference and I'm beginning to think that it was just a fan-explanation for the shitty writing in Thunderbolts where he tanked the penance stare because "I don't regret anything".

It's probably fan wank, though an earlier issue did reference the aforementioned minis for a gag (albeit a plot relevant one).
>>
>>81501296
It was the annual, I believe.
Frank was resurrected, leaving behind an angel feather, and he didn't want to talk about it.

Since this came out I have yet to see a single fucking page which has rivaled its greatness. Not even fucking close. I loved this serious in every way possible and I am so psyched for these guys teaming up on a new book.

Actually remember storytiming this last year i think when steve lieber popped in the thread. Which was pretty super cool.
>>
>>81492260
Do we know how much later he's telling the story?

A MUCH better thief.
>>
>>81492073
Oh, hey Tony. That's surprisingly cool of you.
I guess that's why you're a superhero and these guys are...not, I suppose?
>>
>>81492073
We honestly don't deserve comic books this good.
>>
Yeah, given the shape of his haircut and that forelock of hair? 99% chance he just confessed to a shitload of crimes to the Amazing Spider-Man, which really just fits the whole series.
>>
>>81492194
I don't read a lot of Marvel so why would he be dead?
>>
>>81505343
That one isnt really on Marvel its more that everyone thought the cut to black and music ended meant that tony was dead

Thanks OP, been meaning to read the end of this.

Overdrive is my fave in this. I wish he'd pop up somewhere else. Hell, he's a perfect Thunderbolts candidate.
>>
>>81492148
So is Shocker still the mafia Don?
>>
Might be one of the funniest books I've ever read.

Leiber, if you're still lurking for whatever reason, I'm buying this right now. Thanks dude.
