I think its important to post this again

In truth, Darth Vader is gone now. The body Luke eases gently to the floor is Anakin Skywalker.
"Luke, help me take this mask off," Anakin says, no longer booming."
"But you'll die."
"Nothing can stop that now. Just for once let me look on you with my own eyes."

It takes Luke a moment but he soon discovers how the front of Vader's mask can be detached from the helmet and removed. When he does so, the sound of Vader's respirator, already ragged, stops. And now Luke sees for himself the face of his father: scarred and battered into something barely human. And now Anakin sees his son's face: a handsome face creased with concern and, yes, bearing its own battle scars. But at least Anakin sees him not as a Jedi or a warrior or a threat or a mistake, but as his son...and Padme's son.

And Anakin smiles. Not a smile like the Emperor's. Or a crazed grin like Darth Maul's. Not even a smirk like Anakin might have shown Ahsoka back in his Jedi days. But a real smile. The smile that only Padme ever saw.
"Now...go, my son," Anakin struggles to say. "Leave me."
"No. You're coming with me. I can't leave you hear! I've got to save you!"
"You already have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister...you were right."
"Father...I won't leave you."

It's a time-waster, nothing more. The character roster is the only thing good about it; there's no story, and it's only a matter of time before you either hit a wall in progress or it becomes too tedious. Not to mention complacent gaming syndrome up the ass.

>As for the others, I guess when you're surrounded by living legends you've heard all the stories by now. Hell, everyone learned about the Death Star II when they were told of the Emperor's death. Next thing we know "WEESA FREE!" and people are mosh pitting Stormtroopers over the sides of buildings.

I can kind of see that for Poe, I guess. Obviously Kylo Ren would know all this stuff because Mom and Dad and Uncle Luke would be telling him the stories themselves, and Poe, as a high-ranking Resistance member, would be reasonably up on his history, but everyone still seemed WAY too cavalier about "it's another Death Star". They not only react like they all saw a Death Star a week ago, but like they know they're in a Star Wars movie and they know exactly where this plotline's going.

But Finn and Rey both should have far more limited knowledge. Rey has been on Jakku since she was a little girl, with no formal education to speak of, and she didn't exactly seem like a social butterfly. Anakin, when we first meet him in The Phantom Menace, has lots of local Tatooine knowledge and knows lots about fixing things (because it's his job) and podracing (because it's his hobby), but everything else he knows is tall tales and half-truths about how Jedi can't be killed and how the angels on Iego are so beautiful. And that's just a busy little port like Mos Espa, not a totally isolated backwater like Jakku. How is this scavenging hermit girl such a history buff that she gets all giddy about Luke Skywalker and Han Solo?

And Finn makes even less sense. He was taken from a family he'll never know and raised to do one thing. The entire sum of his knowledge should divide neatly into two categories: First Order training and First Order propaganda. I can see him knowing who Luke is, because Luke's FO Public Enemy #1, but I can't see him knowing hardly anything TRUE about Luke, and I can't see him knowing much about Han at all, let alone seeing Han as a "war hero".

>They not only react like they all saw a Death Star a week ago
They don't even seem all that bothered that the Hosnian System got wiped out. It's just kind of a thing that happened. For all the weight the Hosnian massacre has on the characters and importance to the story, the weapon may as well have just destroyed an uninhabited planet as a test shot.

>Oh wow, they have a big weapon, that sucks
>We should do something about it, I guess
The New Republic's capital was destroyed, billions killed, surprise superweapon none of them apparently knew about... and that's as much reaction as they get.

Alderaan didn't get much fanfare either and Leia doesn't seem to be that greatly affected by it afterward, but at the very least she does show distress when it's being threatened and its destruction has a significant effect on the story.

Jakku was the site of the last major battle between the Imperial Remnant and the fledgling New Republic. The first settlers? Survivors from the battle whose ships crashed. It's supposed to have a lot of vets, too. People who know those ships are good at figuring how how to navigate the wrecks and know what's valuable.

So basically she's heard a lot of stories. A LOT of stories. When? Who knows because they don't gab during the cleaning of the salvage or apparently they get hit. Pity because it would have been nice for Rey to listen to old war stories and legends of the Jedi. Maybe an old Wookiee to show why the locals might know his language.

Leia seems very affected at least during Alderaan's destruction. And then Luke, Han, and Ben are totally aghast at the wreckage field, and even on the Death Star Ben is like "the plans must be delivered safely or other star systems will suffer the same fate as Alderaan".

There's a much bigger deal made out of it, and one thing that helped is that the movie built up Alderaan like it was the Emerald City before Tarkin blew it up. The crawl says Leia's headed there. Leia tells Vader she's headed there. R2's message tells Ben and Luke to head there. Ben's like "we gotta go to Alderaan" and Luke eventually agrees to come with. They buy passage with Han and say "Alderaan" like three times in that conversation alone. By the time the Death Star -- also mentioned in the crawl, along with its ability to wipe out star systems -- is in orbit around Alderaan, Alderaan is Mecca and we are all Muslims.

And suddenly Mecca is gone.

Starkiller Base's ability to wipe out planets is introduced in the same scene where it fires for the first time. We were just told of a "weapon" for the first time in the first Snoke scene. The Hosnian system is introduced, not even named, just in time for it to be destroyed. It's named later, casually, off-handedly, by Poe after the Battle of Takodana. The movie has just done absolutely zero work building up this scene, and expects an emotional response from the viewer that it hasn't earned in the slightest. It's all imitation with no understanding. It's like a cargo cult.

And it even adds Hux doing a big dramatic villain speech about how he's going to destroy a government the audience once saw mentioned briefly in the opening crawl. We have no idea who these guys are, why the First Order has a beef with them, or anything whatsoever about the situation but we're still expected to find his whole "LAST DAY OF THE REPUBLIC" bullshit stirring and chilling.

He was referring specifically to the Sith Wang Trick. Telekinetic, projectable, and completely inSidious. He likes to deploy it during long boring Senate hearings. When people complain he just says, "Oh, it's those pesky Jedi! You must sponsor another bill increasing the funding of the military!"

Because he can have his fun and still profit.

Jedi's novelisation is really fucking goofy. The decision to transcribe the vocalizations of every droid/alien is the stupidest fucking thing ever. It still gives a slightly more complete picture of the events, although it wasn't created off such an early script as SW or ESB, the Ewoks are generally treated as less 'cute' and more just a crazy primitive race. Here's the same scene from the novel.

In the midst of this uproar, Luke had made it, somehow, to the main docking
bay—where he was trying to carry the hulking deadweight of his father's weakening
body toward an Imperial shuttle. Halfway there, his strength finally gave out,
though; and he collapsed under the strain.
Slowly he rose again. Like an automaton, he hoisted his father's body over his
shoulder and stumbled toward one of the last remaining shuttles.
Luke rested his father on the ground, trying to collect strength one last time, as
explosions grew louder all around them. Sparks hissed in the rafters; one of the
walls buckled, and smoke poured through a gaping fissure. The floor shook.
Vader motioned Luke closer to him. "Luke, help me take this mask off."
Luke shook his head. "You'll die."
The Dark Lord's voice was weary. "Nothing can stop that now. Just once let
me face you without it. Let me look on you with my own eyes."
Luke was afraid. Afraid to see his father as he really was. Afraid to see what
person could have become so dark—the same person who'd fathered Luke, and Leia.
Afraid to know the Anakin Skywalker who lived inside Darth Vader.

Vader, too, was afraid—to let his son see him, to remove this armored mask that
had been between them so long. The black, armored mask that had been his only
means of existing for over twenty years. It had been his voice, and his breath, and
his invisibility—his shield against all human contact. But now he would remove it;
for he would see his son before he died.
Together they lifted the heavy helmet from Vader's head—inside the mask
portion, a complicated breathing apparatus had to be disentangled, a speaking
modulator and view-screen detached from the power unit in back. But when the
mask was finally off and set aside, Luke gazed on his father's face.
It was the sad, benign face of an old man. Bald, beardless, with a mighty scar
running from the top of his head to the back of the scalp, he had unfocused, deepset,
dark eyes, and his skin was pasty white, for it had not seen the sun in two decades.
The old man smiled weakly; tears glazed his eyes, now. For a moment, he looked
not too unlike Ben.
It was a face full of meanings, that Luke would forever recall. Regret, he saw
most plainly. And shame. Memories could be seen flashing across it…memories
of rich times. And horrors. And love, too.
It was a face that hadn't touched the world in a lifetime. In Luke's lifetime.
He saw the wizened nostrils twitch, as they tested a first, tentative smell. He saw the
head tilt imperceptibly to listen—for the first time without electronic auditory
amplification. Luke felt a pang of remorse that the only sounds now to be heard
were those of explosions, the only smells, the pungent sting of electrical fires. Still,
it was a touch. Palpable, unfiltered.
He saw the old eyes focus on him. Tears burned Luke's cheeks, fell on his
father's lips. His father smiled at the taste.
It was a face that had not seen itself in twenty years.

Vader saw his son crying, and knew it must have been at the horror of the face
they boy beheld.
It intensified, momentarily, Vader's own sense of anguish—to his crimes, now,
he added guilt at the imagined repugnance of his appearance. But then this brought
him to mind of the way he used to look—striking, and grand, with a wry tilt to his
brow that hinted of invincibility and took in all of life with a wink. Yes, that was
how he'd looked once.
And this memory brought a wave of other memories with it. Memories of
brotherhood, and home. His dear wife. The freedom of deep space. Obi-wan.
Obi-wan, his friend…and how that friendship had turned. Turned, he knew not
how—but got injected, nonetheless, with some uncaring virulence that festered,
until…hold. These were memories he wanted none of, not now. Memories of
molten lava, crawling up his back…no.
This boy had pulled him from that pit—here, now, with this act. This boy was
good.
The boy was good, and the boy had come from him—so there must have been
good in him, too. He smiled up again at his son, and for the first time, loved him.
And for the first time in many long years, loved himself again, as well.
Suddenly he smelled something—flared his nostrils, sniffed once more.
Wildflowers, that was what it was. Just blooming; it must be spring.
And there was thunder—he cocked his head, strained his ears. Yes, spring
thunder, for a spring rain. To make the flowers bloom.
Yes, there…he felt a raindrop on his lips. He licked the delicate droplet…but
wait, it wasn't sweetwater, it was salty, it was…a teardrop.
He focused on Luke once again, and saw his son was crying. Yes that was it, he
was tasting his boy's grief—because he looked so horrible; because he was so
horrible.

>>
>>81468617
But he wanted to make it all right for Luke, he wanted Luke to know he wasn't
really ugly like this, not deep inside, not all together. With a little self-deprecatory
smile, he shook his head at Luke, explaining away the unsightly beast his son saw.
"Luminous beings are we, Luke—not this crude matter."
Luke shook his head, too—to tell his father it was all right, to dismiss the old
man's shame, to tell him nothing mattered now. And everything—but he couldn't
talk.
Vader spoke again, even weaker—almost inaudible. "Go, my son. Leave
me."
At that, Luke found his voice. "No. You're coming with me. I'll not leave
you here. I've got to save you."
"You already have, Luke," he whispered. He wished, briefly, he'd met Yoda, to
thank the old Jedi for the training he'd given Luke…but perhaps he'd be with Yoda
soon, now, in the ethereal oneness of the Force. And with Obi-wan.
"Father, I won't leave you," Luke protested. Explosions jarred the docking bay
in earnest, crumbling one entire wall, splitting the ceiling. A jet of blue flame shot
from a gas nozzle nearby. Just beneath it the floor began to melt.
Vader pulled Luke very close, spoke into his ear. "Luke, you were right…and
you were right about me…Tell your sister…you were right."
With that, he closed his eyes, and Darth Vader—Anakin Skywalker—died.
A tremendous explosion filled the back of the bay with fire, knocking Luke flat
to the ground. Slowly, he rose again; and like an automaton, stumbled toward one of
the last remaining shuttles.

-So yeah, it's neat. And then R2 or Chewie speaks and you get BEEPBOOPDOOPS or RGHGHGRGROOONKBARK. I am totally serious.

The advice I read was use crystals to buy Cantina Energy and farm the Squad table. Unlock Ahsoka and/or Qui-Gon to start then just expand your roster or farm shards to upgrade them. Besides free Bronzes don't seem bad, though so far I've only gotten the Ewok Scout (again), the Geo Soldier, and just now the Jedi Knight Guardian. Really basic, I suspect by design. Everything about this game seems to try to make you throw money at it.

Maybe the extra content will help, but I'm not sure what exactly it brings to the table. So to speak.

Because idiots are butthurt about ewoks.

For real, though, the biggest problem of ROTJ is that it has to clean up ESB's mess. Back in 1980, ESB got very tepid reviews, and for a good reason: when the credits roll, none of the plotlines have been resolved. The original single plotline splits in two after the Battle of Hoth, and these two plotlines never reunite, they just sort of briefly pass each other in the hallway on Cloud City. Luke's training is incomplete, he's just had a bombshell dropped on him, but no time left to process any of that, come back in three years. Han's frozen and has been taken away, now we've got to go find him, but no time left to work on that, come back in three years. Everything the movie was building towards is left hanging.

Episode VI was originally going to be Rescue Han: The Movie, followed by three more movies before the Emperor's death, but Lucas decided he wanted to just get it over and done with, so he compressed ROTJ so that its first half was Rescue Han: The Mini-Movie, and then chunks of what were going to be VII, VIII, and IX were Frankenstein'd together to be the rest of the movie, so that all of ESB's hanging plot threads could be resolved in a single film.

When one movie is doing the work of four, it kind of suffers. ROTJ feels disjointed -- as thrilling as the Rescue Han half is, it doesn't feel like it has much to do with anything in the second half of the movie. On top of that, the three parts of the Battle don't interact with one another at all outside of the destruction of the shield, and the duel in particular feels very removed from the rest of the action, even if it's an amazing duel in itself.

People complain about ewoks, but the truth is that the ground battle is just the weakest section of the Battle of Endor. The space battle shows us just enough to be exciting but leave us wanting more, and the duel is unbelievably tense throughout, which leaves the ground battle feeling weak by comparison.
>>
Man, I don't know how I ever missed it but I'm only just recently realizing that the V-wings and the Jedi Starfighters at the beginning of Episode III are supposed to look like proto- or just generally "before" TIE fighters.
>>
>>81468711

Man I really don't think he could have pulled off nine movies of material. Having Luke finally face the Emperor around the age he is now in Ep VII is cool and all, but holy shit that would have been such a goddamned gamble. It doesn't help that that specific idea (The Emperor being the final boss or even a threat at all, and Luke facing him as an old dude) wasn't even on the table during most of Star Wars/Ep IV's creation. He was making a lot of this up as he went along.
>>
>>81468711
>Luke and Vader era VII, VIII, and IX

Sounds like it would have been better than the sequel trilogy we're getting.

For one thing, making Luke the protagonist of two trilogies removes the notion of one trilogy/protagonist per generation

It really could have gone like movie serials where there's no real formal structure of a grand saga, just stories to be told, like the Trek movies.

Instead the main trilogies are now all about the older generation fucking up and having to be rescued by the next.
>>
One thing I didn't understand in the battle over Endor was how the Rebel fleet won vs the Imperials. Even without the Super Star Destroyer and the Death Star2 the Empire fleet severely outgunned and outnumbered the Rebels. I've looked it up a few times on the internet and I haven't seen any details on exactly how they pulled it off.
>>
>>81468711

It also doesn't help that the ground battle itself moves in disjointed stages. Once the Ewoks have joined the Rebels, we have the initial "sneak into the bunker". Then the stormtroopers ambush the Rebels and drag them out. Once that's done, the Ewoks show up, and now it's a fight, but this stage of the fight goes on for a LONG time showing off the battle without making a lot of progress towards the goal. Finally, our heroes make it to the bunker door, and we finally get some tense moments as R2 gets taken out and Leia gets shot, when Chewbacca finally saunters over in the AT-ST he picked up while playing Tarzan.

Then Han does his bluff over the AT-ST's communications system to get the bunker open and the fight's over, just like that. It's clumsy, unsatisfying, and doesn't have a lot of suspense or tension, unlike the other two sections of the battle.

Even the Battle of Naboo fares better as a complete ensemble. Each time we cut to a different part of the battle, we see important turning points in the battle. Every time we see part of the Gungan battle, the Gungan situation goes from bad to worse. Every time we see part of the palace fight, the team is forced to improvise a new route because the droids are too thick. Every time we see the duel, we move from one environment to another, and the Jedi either get split up or get back together. And every time we see the space battle, Anakin makes progress towards getting control of his fighter. Ultimately, all four parts of the battle hit their lowest points simultaneously, with Anakin crashing, the Gungans surrendering, the palace team surrendering, and Qui-Gon getting impaled all at the same time, but then the palace team turns the tables on the Viceroy, Anakin takes out the reactor, the Gungans are saved, and all that's left is the duel.

The Battle of Naboo really has a beautiful sense of rhythm and harmony to it. Endor was like a rehearsal for Naboo.
>>
>>81468826
If Lucas had gone ahead with VII, VIII, and IX he probably would have finished IX in the late 90s, just in time to start Phantom Menace

That means no Special Editions and Han always shoots first
>>
>>81468858
It pretty much boils down to the destruction of the DSII leaving such a huge power vacuum and creating such a huge communications breakdown that the majority of the Imperial fleet jumped to hyperspace to figure out their next move.
>>
>>81468814
It and the ARC-170 really bug me as "precursor ships". The ARC-170 is just "Hey look, it splits it's wings like an x-wing, only for no purpose." Why not just keep the headhunters as the precursor to the x-wing?
And the TIEs are literally named and designed around an engine innovation. They invented a crazy good engine and then built a whole fleet of fighters around using said engine to it's fullest. No one needed to be the precursor to that, there doesn't need to be a previous ship shaped like it before they even built the engine.
>>
>>81468884
But that also means no Expanded Universe as we know it.

No Thrawn
No Shadows of the Empire
No Kyle Katarn
>>
>>81468908
ARC-170 would bug me a lot less if it wasn't ugly as shit
>>
>>81468858

I don't think Piett was expecting Ackbar to charge the fleet directly into his lines.

When the Executor was taken out and crashed into the Death Star II, a massive gap appeared in the Imperial fleet's formation, which was thrown into confusion by the death of the admiral. When the Emperor died, he was no longer able to subtly influence the Imperial Fleet, which began to panic and scatter as the Death Star fell apart. From then on it just turned into a rout.

inb4 legends or not canon, I'm just going by what seem to be the most logical explanations.

Filoni said that Ahsoka would not reappear in rebels from here on out, but could we still get an explanation next season?
>>
>>81468949
Just because a story don't real don't mean you can't feel
>>
>>81468961
Probably not. I get the feeling it'll be a long time before we get her fate explained.
>>
>>81468961
In the Q&A he said "it depends on how many seasons we get," so I think we may get her actually properly reappearing if we wait long enough
>>
>>81468919

That doesn't meant here wouldn't be different novels/games to fill up the void. If movies did come out from the 80s all the way into the late 90s, you'd probably actually see even more of them being produced, albeit in much different forms than what we got today. Probably mostly tie in stuff, with some material set in the ancient republic.
>>
>>81468961
Don't worry, anon, he never said that. You can be sure because Filoni barely ever speaks definitely about, well, anything. He said she could have future stories that don't "necessarily" have to be in Rebels. That means? Absolutely nothing one way or the other in Filonispeak.
>>
>>81468858

With the Death Star gone, the Rebel fleet's back is no longer against the wall and they can focus all their attention on the Navy. With both the Death Star AND the Executor gone, the bulk of the Imperial leadership at Endor is gone too, creating a power vacuum.

Now you have no clear leader, and the primary objectives of the mission are an abject failure. Each individual Imperial ship has a strong incentive to flee and save itself to regroup for a later battle, even if they collectively have a strong incentive to stay in the fight. If the weakest links in the chain withdraw, it makes things harder for the remaining fleet, making withdrawal a more attractive option for the next set of weak links.

So morale is in a downward spiral, cowards are chickening out and weakening everyone, and eventually the remaining fleet is small enough that withdrawal becomes the sensible choice for all surviving ships.
>>
>>81468949
But what if we never experienced them to begin with?

Or say Lucas is burned out after IX, the 2000s have no Star Wars films, and the Anakin/Clone Wars era gets the Abrams treatment.only beginning last year?
>>
>>81468949
Who cares what's canon as long as you like it, right? Just don't try to connect the dots between Legends and the new canon before they actually do it.

It's barely a change for the EU since the movies were always more canon than everything else and could be ignored at a moment's whim. That no longer applies. Just enjoy what you want and damn anyone who says you can't.
>>
>>81469120

In a practical sense, the old tiers are all still there. The only real difference is that T (television) tier has been absorbed into G tier, and all new works are going directly into G tier.

I guess they've also moved the "it'sofficially canon" bar up from C to G, but that's not nearly as big a deal as people are making it out to be.
>>
>>81469164
You are absolutely correct that there is a kind of internal canon within Legends, but since it's not really enforced it's almost pretty moot. I'm sure when discussing Legends it sometimes pisses people off to hear that the Ewok movies are just as canon now as Thrawn, for instance. Kind of an Ironic Inception, one level deeper.
>>
>>81469164
It really isn't. It's just that everything after Jedi was always looked at as a big sandbox because no one realistically thought they'd ever officially make anything to come after it, so all their pet stories/characters/whatever are in jeopardy. The simple act of killing Han (even if he's still got some 30 years of breathing room between Jedi and TFA) throws off the entirety of the EU. I dunno why anyone thought any of these characters would realistically get to 'retire' anyway. The books were also struggling with reconciling nearly 60 years of story and making them age at a believable rate. I know they aren't really 'humans' but they were all 70+ by the final stories and only Han seemingly got to 'age' as he was the only one who would point out how fucking old he was/they were on occasion.
>>
>>81469362
I hope the don't shit all over the established old republic/pre phantom menace lore the same way. While a good chunk of it was shit and really should be changed, a lot of the ideas and concepts are really interesting.

I also noticed in the rebels season 2 finale that Ezra picked up the jedi lightsaber with a cross-guard like the Knights of Ren have. I hope the reason behind this design choice is expanded upon in episodes 8 and 9 when we find out more about the Knights.
>>
>>81469601

The TFA visual dictionary established that Kylo Ren's lightsaber is modeled on an ancient design used by the old Jedi Order.

That's why Ezra found a similar saber. That's how they used to make them, back in the day.

>>81470294
So Anakin wasn't actually thinking of Ahsoka in his final moments :(
Well I mean we have no way of confirming or denying it honestly so I suppose it jives
>>
>>81470275

Yes-ish.

The official stance is that novelizations are canon where they align with the films.

It's unclear whether this means "the only canon parts of the novelization are those that are also shown in the movies" or "the novelizations are canon except where they conflict with the movies, in which case the movies take precedent".

The first interpretation means that anything added in the novel that isn't present in the films is non-canon, and you might as well just watch the films and skip the novels completely. The second interpretation means that the novels can add new things to the canon so long as they don't conflict with the movies.

TESB isn't about plot resolution. It's about thematic exploration. You're right about the divorced plot lines, but that's what helps give the movie a sense of unease (a very unease that motivates Luke and highlights an attachment and impulsiveness that could, as with Vader before him, play into the Emperor's favor). It's also why the movie's iconic ending shot is so resonant: our characters are reunited, battered and with one less, but clinging to each other and a greater purpose. You're right about the initially tepid response, but there's a reason perspective on the movie changed over time.

>>
>>81471636
All valid points, but that's not the point.

Kanan doesn't need it, we are gonna see his abilities and connection to the force skyrocket.

Would be a nice way to canonize Miraluka with one of them helping Kanan deal with it.

I know that would be unnecessary, but cool.
>>
>>81477233
That type of reasoning has been around since the OT, so I don't mind it too much, personally. In moments of extreme stress or intensity, some people can call upon the Force to guide them to a much greater degree than normal. Been that way pretty much since the trench run in the first movie.
>>
>>81477073

It's worth noting that Kanan had practiced seeing things through the Force since he was a youngling, since it's a standard Jedi technique, so the knowledge was already there and he just needed to apply it in a new situation,.

>>81477663

Luke was also being trained by Obi-Wan to see through the Force and let it guide his actions. That was what that whole sensor ball training session was about. The same principles were applied to the trench run.

>>81477073

It kind of fails with Rey, though, because she has no prior training with this technique at all. The Force doesn't seem to nudging or guiding her like Luke or Kanan so much as ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL Harbinger-style.

You're right I am. Maybe MAYBE when it's finished (and more sufficiently nsfw) I'll post it on a Weekend Smut Thread on /d/.
>>
>>81477781
I'm not talking guiding in terms of just seeing through the Force, but also in terms of situations like Luke overpowering Vader in RotJ. That was more brute force and raw power than technique, which is what happened with Rey. Granted, she didn't have nearly the degree of training that Luke or Kanan had, but she had discovered and used the Force under stress once already in the interrogation scene, and she knew how to fight.

Basically, when that extra power kicks in, it seems to just work with whatever it is you've got. Kanan and Luke had the seeing-through-the-Force technique going on. Luke also had combat prowess and raw power to work with in the Vader duel, just as Rey did in hers against Kylo.

1) Pretzling up the lekku, make helmet with enough room
2) chain-mail lekku pants + long plaids

Lekku aren't essential for living, they're "merely" extra storage space for memories and languages. Like, a Twi'lek could loose them via accident/injury and maybe forget some languages and memories but they wouldn't be wheelchair bound or a drooling vegetable.

I think the swtor general on /vg/ has guidelines for setting up Star Wars Galaxies, but you wouldn't get a lot of new players in there since it's not as easily available for non-pirates.

They got this rich friend called Bail Antilles, maybe you've heard of him. From Alderaan, kind of a big deal in the Senate? No?

Sarcasm aside I can't see them doing this even though technically they could. Mostly because they don't want to create a problem for a character and then wave it away with technology. Better to have him adapt with the Force.
>>
>>81479510
They play the same so if you don't like 1 you won't like 2. You should play them both anyway, they're good but yeah you can jump straight into 2 but you might miss some references here and there plus the a lot of points about Darth Revan. There isn't a massive difference in story if you go light or dark side but you do get different abilities in KOTOR2 by choosing different classes, eg the sith lord class can use Force Crush. I've done a blaster playthrough, it was difficult at times but enjoyable. But I still prefer a good old lightsaber one. Also both have good waifus, if that's what youre into.
>>
>>81479510
KotOR only mentions some stuff about Revan, though you'll spoil the plot-twist of KotOR 1 (assuming you don't already know it), otherwise it's not needed.

It's very similar to the first game, just spam Furry and you'll murder everything, they're pretty easy games regardless, especially if you go Melee combat.

As for Jedi/Sith, KotOR sort of deals in a gray area at times, overshadowed by the fact that people completely miss the entire purpose of the main villain and the 'gray' stuff, which isn't gray at all.

Sith have the more fun abilities overall though and can completely break the game if you spec right, blasters are fun to use, not as viable as melee, but fun. Make sure to look up the fastest way to get a Lightsaber just in case because you don't get one for awhile if you do things in a wonky ass order.

That comic is funny because of how damn accurate it is.

My guess is that Maul will try to cheat in the Ezrabowl by sabotaging his relationship with the Ghost's crew somehow. He knew that the best way to get Ezra to give in to the dark side was to convince him that the power it offered is the only viable means of getting justice for his parents and protecting his friends. He'll lose in the end, but I can see Ezra joining up with him if he's convinced the crew is either dead or betrayed him.

Galaxies was my favorite game ever, and I miss it every day. No MMO has ever come close to replicating that experience. But I'm starved for Star Wars games in general, I've played every single one and beaten all of them, countless times for many of them. Battlefront is fun in small doses, but I want a big single player driven game.
>>
>>81479753
I think Ezra will just go on his own out of sheer anger, I feel like we'll start seeing him getting angrier with Ahsoka's death and Vader/Empire on the rise. Only to be brought out of it at the finale by Sabine
>>
>>81479753
I think Ezra is already there, he opened that Sith Holocron. I think we're going to see him kill a bunch of people next season because he took Maul's lesson about not hesitating to heart. He may end up seeking Maul out for training, and then killing him in true Sith Apprentice fashion.

Being Maul is suffering. A legacy + dead Sheev/Vader/Quizzies/Empire is what he wants, and getting killed by his apprentice might be the only way to get the one.

Unless the Mandos celebrate him.

Also, lovely how the scene you posted mirrored Qui Gon's death and Obi Wan's reaction, mere hours (?) after Maul tried to get the same out of the latter. Pottering.

It doesn't necessarily have to be about Delta Squad, it could just be the bridge gap between Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers honestly, with how the Senate wanted military funding severely cut before Palpatine went full on crazy with trying to dismantle the Senate.

First of all, I want this to be a Don't Hold Back on Comment discussion. I want people to criticise, get defensive and downright object to what I'm saying. If there is anyone agrees with me though feel free to help fend of the Haters because we will be greatly outnumbered.

I think the real story of Star Wars is a classic, solid story. The Republic becomes the Galactic Empire, democracy becomes a dictatorship. The way this happens is great. Palpatine, the Republic's leader has manipulated his way to power and turns it into the very evil he said he was fighting. The greatest supporter of democracy, all-be-it an act, is also the greatest supporter of the dictatorship he makes out he's trying to stop. And his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker-turned-Darth Vader, helps create and destroy Palpatine's vision. I love it.

Now we get to the part where people will verbally rip me to pieces. As far as I'm concerned, the story of Star Wars ends with Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. These three episodes, the Prequel Trilogy, show the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire. The only piece of the Original Trilogy that I would acknowledge as a continuation of the Prequel Trilogy is Darth Vader's battle with Luke and his betrayal of the Emperor. This brings full closure to his destiny as the Chosen One, the one to bring balance to the Force.
>>
>>81480540
Now I’m about to present you with opinions almost encouraging you to verbally assault me but this my honest opinion. A New Hope sucks. It’s a very boring, slow-paced story that does nothing to make me want to watch it again. The only thing it brought to the table was the greatest weapon of all time, the lightsaber, Darth Vader and the Stormtrooper, they both look awesome.

The Empire Strikes Back… hailed by critics and fans as the greatest Star Wars movie as well as one of the greatest movies of all time… to me this is the worst Episode of them all. We start with a cool battle on Hoth… but that’s it for me. I understand Luke needing to go to Dagobah and be trained by Yoda but it was so poorly executed. Luke’s training was laughable, Yoda couldn’t be taken seriously and the cave where Luke battled Darth Luke? Strangest scene from any of the Star Wars movies. It really ruined the rest of the movie. What was it’s purpose? Was it only really there to hint that there’s a piece of him in Darth Vader? Was Lucas teasing the “huge” twist as Vader as Luke’s father? More on that soon.

Han and Leia’s journey to Bespin was unexciting and Lando betraying them was pointless. Why did C3PO need to be disassembled? What did that do for the story? Freezing Han in carbonite doesn’t really help move the “big picture” story of Luke vs. Vader, which some may not agree with me but I see that is the “big picture” in the Original Trilogy. Lando in Han’s outfit at the end cracks me up every time although I don’t know why, it makes no sense. Anyway, back to the “huge twist”. The lightsaber battle in this movie is so stiff and boring, you’re not excited about it. Luke losing his hand is only interesting because you learn Vader lost an arm… and later on he loses the other one and both legs.
>>

He doesn't want to remember it because he's called Paul
>>
Can we finally admit that Kanan is a top-tier Jedi?
>>
>>81480574
Anyway, the revelation that Vader is Luke’s dad really never shocked me. What is so great about this twist? The hero’s enemy is his dad. Ok, fine, no big deal. So what I like about Empire… Boba Fett. And he was only in the movie for less than a minute all up! Family Guy’s Something, Something, Something Darkside was the only really cool thing to come from this entry.

Return of the Jedi sucks but not as much as Empire. Ewoks, the story on Tatooine, Yoda’s death and everything else up until Luke vs. Vader was boring. Luke vs Vader is the only good part about this movie. It ultimately redeems Anakin of half a life time of bad deeds. He turns on his master to save his son, sacrificing himself in the process and fulfilling his destiny of bringing balance to the Force.

My point is, I hate the Original Trilogy, and I hate the Empire Strikes Back like nothing else. The worst movie I have ever seen. Let me have it… unleash your opinions and criticism. I’ll post my thoughts on the Prequels after hearing the responses from all of you.

the original trilogy are better movies, but the prequels have more interesting lore and world building imo.

The Empire never really felt threatening to me. The stormtroopers couldn't aim for shit and the only time they used the death star had minimal effect on the plot and the audience never got a chance to get emotionally invested in Alderaan. The second death star was entirely useless and pretty boring considering that it was literally the exact same shit. Honestly, in the OT the Hutts seem more competent than the Empire at getting shit done.

Honestly, a better title for the plot would be "The Tragedy of the Skywalkers", though that would be almost as bad as calling a certain movie "Billy and the Cloneasaurus"

A boy with troubling potential is pulled away from his mom in his youth. He spends his adolescence training in the hopes of one day being able to protect his loved ones, only to end up losing them to the tyrannical regime that he helps to establish with acts of evil. He winds up estranged from his children, who eventually become part of the movement against said regime. In a moment of clarity, he ends up sacrificing himself to save his son, helping to redeem himself and restore peace to the galaxy. Then, said peace is ripped to shreds by a descendant who treated his acts of evil as if they were the grace of God.

...and upon reading that, I seem to have gone off on one hell of a tangent here.

>And that's just a busy little port like Mos Espa, not a totally isolated backwater like Jakku. How is this scavenging hermit girl such a history buff that she gets all giddy about Luke Skywalker and Han Solo?

She lives near a place where they stole Han's ship. It wouldn't be much of a stretch for stories about him to reach her, particularly since she knows him as a smuggler. Luke is less easy to explain, since the people she was around wouldn't have much reason to know or care about him.

Finn I think would at least know of Han militarily, since Han was a General for a time. Much like the Empire studied the Clone Wars and its major players, I'm fairly sure the First Order would have done the same for the Rebellion.

Nah, the Jedi AU was made by an artist who's got a soft spot for brother/mentor dynamics and has Maul and his brothers getting recruited as padawans when they were kids with no Sheev in the picture.

And man, I like that comic you posted, even if it's so out there in the realms of happening.

Would Maul and ANH era Obi-Wan having one final duel be a good idea?

I think it's cool in theory but I couldn't realistically see Obi-Wan surviving in that situation.
>>

Maul would win because his mechanical legs can offer much more mobility than Obi-wan's old man body showed in the Death Star.
>>
>>81481646
>but I couldn't realistically see Obi-Wan surviving in that situation.

Mauls walking with a stick in Rebels. Which is a few years before ANH.
So they're both old men by then. No reason Maul should be somehow better off than Kenobi.
Kenobi doesn't need a cane to stand upright anway.

I want it, just as much as I want Vader vs Maul, but I do feel like both of those are fan service-y and might not really work in a narrative sense. I think Maul feels satisfied with the level of revenge he already got by killing Satine and Obi-Wan wouldn't be seeking revenge for that because he made the opposite choice that Anakin made in regards to love. That said, I think Obi-Wan could still win.
>>
>>81479887
I could see that happening before the acquisition, but not now. This is Disney, and Ezra is the audience surrogate for the show's target demographic. At worst he'll kill someone in an act of self defense or to save someone else. (In fact, that's probably how Maul is going to go down.)

Filoni addressed that in his Q&A.
Ezra and the opportunity to take another apprentice rejuvenated him if you will. He went from being stranded without a ship (only the Inquisitor had one) to planting the seed of corruption in Ezra and making new plans to kill Vader and Sidious.
>>
>>81481065
>>81480955
All this tells us is that she definitely wont be this Abe Vigoda bitch or whatever
>>
>>81481853
He probably made it to try and trick the Inquisitors. Although, the impression that I got was that he wasn't faking when Ezra first meets him but as time went along he started becoming stronger again because he was feeding off of Ezra's anger and when he saw an opportunity to be a Sith again the dark side in him started coming back. I mean, think about it, he survived on sheer dark side power after TPM. It diminished and he went insane after a decade spent alone on the junk planet. Similarly, he had been stuck on Malachor alone for years apparently. When Savage came and reminded him of who he was, he essentially got his power back. Same with Ezra this time.
>>
>>81481876
>(In fact, that's probably how Maul is going to go down.)

I can see it now

>For whatever reason, Ezra was separated from the Ghost's crew and his only option was pairing up with Maul
>Because Kanan's not a fucking idiot, Ezra knows that Maul double-crossed them in the hopes of getting him as an apprentice and doesn't instantly trust him
>Something happens to make Ezra doubt the Ghost's crew, a la his nightmare illusion when getting the crystal for his lightsaber
>This pushes him to give in to Maul's offers for apprenticeship and companionship
>Ezra seems like an adept Sith, but naturally isn't so adept at killing innocent people
>Something happens to restore Ezra's faith in the Ghost's crew, likely coupled with Maul going in for the kill on someone he cares about
>Ezra light saber shanks Maul
>>
>>81482113
>stuck on Malachor alone for years apparently

Nah, he hadn't been there for too long as an Inquisitor was hot on his trail. The stuck there for years part was another thing he made up to bring Ezra's guard down
>>
>>81482120
In doing so, that would be his last step on his path to the dark side: killing his Sith master. And ultimately what Maul would want because it means his student surpassed him.
>>
>>81482161
No, he wasn't lying. The Inquisitors were sent there because Sheev probably had visions in his attempts to locate Maul. Same as Yoda could feel in the Force a disturbance there that required the attention of Ahsoka, Kanan, and Ezra.

JJ explains Kylo's ashes. They're unfortunately not Vaders or Hux's cat's litter tray
> “The backstory is, that that table has the ashes of the enemies he’s killed,” Abrams says. “That moment was actually shot for, and meant to be used in, the scene where he was talking to the Vader mask.”
“He originally had his mask off the first time we shot that scene. Then we reshot it with his mask on, but we had that shot which I loved and thought was so cool of the mask being slammed down into that ash,” Abrams says. “So that shot was stolen from the scene that we had changed and put into the scene with Rey.
“He used to place his mask gingerly onto a piece of the set, which was incredibly unimpressive,” Abrams says with a laugh. “So this moment made it a much cooler beat.”
>>
>>81482161
We don't know that. Given we know the Emperor was sensing shit was about to go down on Malachor it makes sense he'd send in one of his hunting dogs. They didn't even know Maul was still alive. They were merely hunting a "shadow," likely how the Emperor sensed Maul. A hidden but dark presence on a world he knew had a holocron, a dark past, and probably knew about the weapon the same as Maul did. If he had known it was Maul poking around he'd have immediately dispatched Vader if not moved in personally to deal with a threat like that. (it could be argued that the Emperor wouldn't worry since he knew Maul would need help, but with Maul, and all he knows, is the Emperor the kind of person to take such a chance?).

Most likely Maul was speaking the truth. HIs ship did crash, he was stranded (he stole an Inquisitor's TIE to get offworld, after all), and had been there for a long time but unable to figure out the temple, or maybe even reading the ancient writing to learn everything he later used with Ezra's help. It very likely wasn't until the Emperor sensed shit was about to get hot and heavy that he sent in a lone Inquisitor to test the waters.

Anyway that's how I see it.

Depends on where you hang out, I suppose. These generals have a bed rep, usually over canon, but it's also a pretty major troll target and the threads don't always get cleaned up like yesterday. Canon is just the least effort troll bait because it's a major sore point with large parts of the fandom. Because these are Rebels threads that rep carries over. I've seen /tg/ shit on these threads which is odd considering these threads share a lot of the same posters.

Anyway Rebels is a odd one. I think it started out so light-hearted on purpose. Not because it was a kids show but to build up an atmosphere of adventure and sticking it to those mean Imperials, making a joke of them. If they'd kept doing this it would have been only a Star Wars kiddie show. But it turned out they were just throwing stones at a hornets nest. Tarkin showed up, shit got dark. Vader came in, shit got darker. Never too dark, but dark enough. Still for kids but with some heavy shit. Season 2 it just got worse. As much as the Rebels would grow in strength the empire kept showing it was stronger still.

Some people get distracted, blaming Hera for not saving every pilot. She could, and easy as the writer's doing that in the script. But she isn't meant to save everyone. Not her, or Kanan, or Ezra, or Sabine. Fighting the Empire makes you pay in blood. Sure the Rebels still can make the Empire look like fools at times, can pull victory out of their ass. I think the show's staff has done an admirable job making the show as dark as they have while being forced to conform to DisneyXD standards.
>>
>>81484295
Even evil Ben Solo has no more similarities than a solo kid turned evil. The way he turns is different, the reason probably too. His personality, his look aren't the same.
>>
Speaking of canon, it occurs to me it mostly gets "hate" when people try to mix it with the current canon, but the two don't alter each other. That goes both ways hasn't changed anything in Legends. However Legends most certainly still has influence over new canon. Not to the extent pro-EU people would like, but I think the problem is that the Story Group tries to find a natural way to include EU elements that doesn't feel forced or gratuitous. Don't just add in the EU for the EU's sake. They need the right story, not just tossing out random tidbits back into canon like they're throwing chum. They're much more careful these days, and it shows. I think it's to the betterment of the canon overall but that's just my opinion.

It's still weird that Leia named her kid Ben. Leia surely knew about him mostly from Bail, the two surely never met (well, except when she was a baby). Han only knew him as a crazy wizard, and the two really didn't interact much, and when they did not in a complimentary fashion.

Still, maybe Han was sentimental in his older days. He definitely was by TFA. Maybe Luke told some stories. Hell, I'd like to think Leia eventually got to meet the ghosts, has that much Force mojo.

As tributes to Obi-Wan go him being evil is even worse. Makes me hope against reason that Rey isn't a Skywalker but somehow a Kenobi so she can smack around (more) the guy who soiled family legacy.

Maybe it wouldn't even need to involve Rebels characters. What you thought would be a trilogy about Kylo Ren's redemption arc is actually a Rey redemption arc. That would be the main conflict of IX.

The thing with Kylo Ren is that the script (if this part is even still canon) makes it clear that he knows his father is speaking the truth that Snoke is merely using his power and will then destroy him. Now it's not like Vader never knew he and Sheev would have to throw down eventually, that's the Sith way, but for Kylo Ren to remain a butt monkey with no apparent ambition or capacity to seize power for himself...Vader, the Vader of old, would be disgusted with him.

But maybe Kylo Ren is actually the one using Snoke to gain power and will eventually kill him and take over? Or at least try.

KOTOR 2's achievments were all created by users and chosen by Aspyr, and at the time had been semi-recently added on Steam.

KOTOR 1 was released on Steam before Steam had achievements, as far as I'm aware, and lacking the recent swell in popularity that KOTOR 2 had, was left by the roadside.

Or at least, that's the way it all looks to me, I could be wrong. That happens a lot.

Yeahhhhno. Disney is not going to do that. I could see them doing that if Maul had an ambiguous death, but not when they blatantly showed him off flying off of Malachor.

>It's possible that after all Maul has done, blinding Kanan, Ezra shouting that Maul tricked them, maybe they see no need to bring the two together again.

Nnnnope. If anything, there has to be a proper rematch. Especially since Ezra was able to open the Sith Holocron, an artifact that Maul wants.
>>
>>81484118

A) You're wrong, KOTOR 2 is better.

B) KOTOR 2 was originally released on Steam in normal form, but then got a big overhaul by Aspyr into its current state, in order to make it compatible with Steam Workshop. This overhaul gave it Steam achievements. KOTOR 1 has not received a similar overhaul, although Aspyr did port it to iOS and Android.

Jedi blind-fighting is not a new concept, you know.

So Kylo's table of ashes? His enemies. That's actually better than my original theory it's Vader's pyre ashes.

In the interim years, Obi wan spent his time more wisely.
He had a hope in Luke, and he spent his time in thought, reflection and meditation, which culminated in him transcending his mortal form.

Maul spent his time wallowing in his hatred, but being able to do nothing about it.

Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter: Obi Wan would wipe the floor with Maul in a rematch, Coen the Barbarian style.

Apparently they were meant for another scene that would have explained them in full.

I didn't think it was the unholy abomination everyone here seems to think it is.

Hm. What about Kylo switching sides in Episode VIII, turned by Luke just as he did Vader, then in Episode IX when they finally defeat Snoke that's when Kylo shouts, "I AM SNOKE NOW!" and helping the Resistance was just his plot to seize power.

They see each other's horns and suddenly a hithertoo unknown biological instinct kicks in. Next thing they know they're clashing with the top of their heads rubbing against each other.

"W-what's going on!?"
"Our horns! D-docking!"

I like to think 89% of those ashes are just walls he's brutally murdered. It's the kind of joke Hux would pull on him.

I think it's more just that he's extremely deluded and thinks this is the path he's supposed to be walking.

I'm hoping that by the end of VIII, the delusion breaks, and that some shit goes down forcing him and Rey to switch places in the story. Then XI can basically be a movie-length redemption arc for him.
