he actually got powered up in a tie-in issue when Jade blew up, so this was his second time as Ion.

>>81414396
I don't remember much of what the internet thought about it, but it was pretty well-received for a big crossover.
It had some shit parts (Bludhaven being blown up just felt kinda forced, like the issue needed a shocking moment or something, and Slade never really answered for that. Blowing up an entire city just to fuck with Dick seems a bit excessive and petty)
As others have pointed out this mini is also partly the cause of Johns' rep for slaughtering B&C-listers and dismemberment fetishism, but for me personally the good moments outweighed the bad
>Perez art on the Supermen fight
>The reveal of Alexander Luthor as the "Luthor" running the Secret Society
>all the Flashes grabbing Prime in the middle of his massacre/temper tantrum and peacing the fuck out
>Batman swallowing his pride and assembling a dope strike team (Black Lightning fuck yeah) to take down Brother Eye
>Prime returning in the Anti-Monitor's armor
>The Battle of Metropolis (corny as hell I know but I felt that big showdown was earned after all the Secret Society build-up)
>The wall of Green Lanterns
>Earth 2 Superman's send-off
>Alexander Luthor, all-powerful destroyer of worlds being killed in a dirty alley like a common Gotham hobo, and his corpse actually factoring into "our" Luthor's ploy to blame ALL of his prior crimes on him in 52
That's just the shit I remember off the top of my head.
You have to remember there was a TON of build-up to this event: Villains United, Day of Vengeance, OMAC Project, Rann-Thanagar War, not to mention the disbanding of the JLA
For what it's worth I think history will be kind to Infinite Crisis, it had tons of crowd-pleasing moments that felt earned.
I didn't read many of the "One Year Later" stuff, but an important thing to remember is that Infinite Crisis directly led into 52, which was something truly special & brilliant that we will never ever see in comics again.
sorry 4 the wall

>>81415360
The only good thing about this event was that it lead to 52.
>>81415521
At least Johns gets it, unlike Morrison.
>>81415438
In Morrison's run, when Dick was Batman.
Slade was recovering in a hospital bed after he used some kind of VR helmet to control Damian's body and Dick intimidated him with righteous fury for a whole half a page before he got interrupted by Talia. It was kind of a minor scene, and nothing really came of it. Still love Morrison's Bat-Epic tho.

>>81416044
Countdown had good moments like " I'll kill you to death" and such

Fucking Johns.
>>81416167
I don't get why DC was on Black Adam's dick for so many years.
>>81416234
It's not only that. Usually big events kill one of bigger characters. CW killed Cap, Secret Invasion killed Wasp, granted she's not THAT popular, but founding Avenger is founding Avenger.
And we here got deaths of only minor characters.
>>81416266
Is this before or after Johns' JSA? That should explain it.
>>81416266
Black Adam is based and Johns likes him and used him extensively in JSA prior to this
The payoff was WWIII/52 so I'm fine with it. He never really reached that level of prominence again.
>>81403933

>It's not only that. Usually big events kill one of bigger characters. CW killed Cap, Secret Invasion killed Wasp, granted she's not THAT popular, but founding Avenger is founding Avenger.
>And we here got deaths of only minor characters.
I understand your reasoning, but I also consider Earth 2 Superman and Lois to be iconic symbols of a bygone era. And remember as previously mentioned, the writers had to convince Didio NOT to kill off Dick. Superboy seemed more like a mercy killing to me, after Johns literally retconned his fan letters into his godawful Teen Titans run.
>What if Superboy was LUTHOR'S clone?
that was an actual letter that he wrote and mailed to DC comics which ended up getting published in the letters column, with the writers debunking it. Guess he had the last laugh.
>>81416383
Kickass, Win-O' or in rare cases I download from getcomics.
>>81416452
Hey, he avoided Titans curse.
>>81416526
I understand what you say, but for every one you who knows his shit, there'll be fifty more people who'll wonder who the hell is this old Superman and why would they care.
Which is shame. Earth-Two Superman had magnificent story.
>>81415499
Out of all the times Bruce has picked up a gun to show just how real shit had gotten in a story, this feels the most organic.
Considering everything else he's been through up to now, this moment really feels like he's finally been pushed to his absolute limit, he just watched his best friend go through the same anguish he's been through because of Alex, and it's almost more than he can bear.
>"Superman doesn't deserve that. Superboy didn't deserve that. What do you deserve?"
That just says it all. This isn't about justice any more, it's is 100% personal.
