Post a panel or page that bests sums up a character.
>>81311008
Such a fucking dumbass
Better one here.
Here's Batman
>>81311155
Incredibly heroic or incredibly close-minded. I really can't decide.
>>81311235In seriousness there's nothing inherently closeminded about resisting mob rule and propaganda when you feel or know it's wrong
>>81311008
One for Luthor
>>81311281
Especially when it involves the Marvel citizenry.
>>81311008
>Written by Frank Miller
Of all people.
But which one
>>81311351
>of all people
What does that mean?
>>81311281
True, thinking it over, I think close-minded is not the right term, but sometimes, if the whole world is telling you you're wrong, it just might be you are actually wrong. Not even acknowledging this possibility, planting yourself in the ground, is not very wise.
>>81311351
DOesn't Miller want tp write a Cap story?
>>81311376
I never expected him to write a good Cap. Kind of reminds me that Garth Ennis can write a good Superman.
>>81311155
This is pretty much the definition of being an ignorant fuck. It's pretty american. But is just terrible.
>>81311399
Might be, but that's not always the case. Getting caught up in sensationalism and a mob mentality isn't a good way to go either.
>>81311075
Captain Boomerang is fucking badass Jesus.
What could he do if he had a real weapon? We need a What If story where he gets a Laser boomerang or something.
>>81311471
He's kinda a one trick pony but all his time with fighting Flash has made him an expert at it.
>>81311417
Has Ennis ever actually written a Superman story? Like, not just a story where Superman shows up and is a total bro compared to every other cunt in a cape?
>>81311075
This issue was an amazing look into Boomerang, first he just kills this kid and jokes about it and then he lets a team mate die because she made everyone laugh at him.
>>81311488
Just the thought of facing down one of the most powerful super heroes in existence, with one of the least impractical weapons ever, that is extra super impractical since it's slower than the guy he's trying to hit is amazing.
Where is my Captain Boomerang kills the DC universe?
>>81311417
Speaking of which . . .
>>81311507
He's written at least one Superman story, IIRC (the one where he tries to train Sixpack the Drunken Hobo to be a true superhero instead of a homicidal drunk in a costume).
>>81311556
To be fair, when you're the Flash, every weapon is too slow to hit you. Might as well pick the one that's the most fun at that point.
>>81311507
I don't think so, but then again, Frank's never done a Captain America story aside from cover work.
>>81311488
He's literally a psychotic australian shitposter with a boomerang.
>>81311075
Such a great page.
>>81311556
Dude, Boomerangs in comics are OP. Did you know Boomerang was originally a Hulk villain?
>>81311609
>If Captain Boomerang were real he'd shitpost on /k/ about how boomerangs a re the best weapon there is
>>81311008
>>81311155
>bests sums up a character.
You're both wrong.
>>81311655
Had to bump him up to Flash so it wouldn't be so one sided. Holy shit.
>>81311605
Yeah, but I don't think Miller has a fairly famous "all superheroes are cunts except Captain America" adtitude.
>>81311660
>if he was real he'd post youtube videos about how to use a Boomerang to it's up most potential
>implying that every single person on the internet wouldn't watch
>>81311581
Also, while I know I perfectly summed up Superman already, here's one that covers both him and his supporting cast.
>>81311655
CAPTAIN Boomerang was always a Flash villain (stints in the Suicide Squad notwithstanding). Marvel's Boomerang started out as a Hulk villain, but later gravitated toward Captain America, Daredevil, and Spider-Man.
>>81311008
That same story has a nice summation of J. Jonah Jameson too.
>>81311655
Yeah and Captain Boomerang is much better than Boomerang since he can become a human Boomerang.
>>81311427
>You're ignorant for not jumping off this cliff, everybody else did.
>>81311521

>>81311903

Why live?
>>81311750
He'd totally be a Boomerang-based version of this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEG-ly9tQGk
>>81311605
I think the closest thing that Miller did of writing a Captain America was making a plot about Steve investigating a series of arson attacks and finding out the culprit was a corrupt fireman. The story ended up fully developed by Roger Stern though.
>>81311960
This applies also as a response.

Boomerang is one of my favorite rogues, because he is literally the coldest motherfucker there is. He will fuck over the entire planet if it means he gets something he likes.
>>81311155
Definitely not this one. It's ignorant and is oddly enough opposite of Cap's usual beliefs.
Pic related is the Punisher smashing a face into another face. That is all you need to know about the Punisher.

Yeah, generally speaking, the more concise the better. I'll go with something that manages to sum up Cap with a single bubble and eight words instead of a cribbed Mark Twain quote.
I fucking love Black Manta so much

>>81311059
>>81311770
I don't really understand why boomerang is a flash villian.
I mean like he can catch bullets right? He could at the very least fuck up the trajectory of the boomerangs mid flight.
>>81312721

>>81315307
Flash is vulnerable to getting hit from behind, which is Boomerangs main tactic.

Then why did you verbally bring it up, Batman?
To hear yourself talk?

To be fair, if you're standing on a bridge and all your friends jumped off of it, what's more likely: that your friends are all idiots, or that the bridge is on fire?

This scan kept not saving for some reason but I finally got it.
>>81316549
Some of those are pretty amazing bullets right there, considering that Frank would have had to have his hand 12 feet in the air for its trajectory to work based on perspective.
>>81316571
>Dude don't gas the jews
>Um, Hanz, like everyone in Germany thinks it's a great idea. Maybe you're just being stubborn.
>No, and I don't really buy into the whole they're subhuman vermin thing
>Wow, really? The Fuhrer has confirmed they're totally subhuman vermin like twenty times, you're being REALLY ignorant right now.
>>81312964
I never understood what's so uplifting about this page. "You're stronger than you think you are" is not a good enough thing to say to someone depressed
>>81316571
>>81316772
The point I think the guy saying it's ignorant is trying to say is more along the lines of the thinking Anti-Vaccers are picking up can be defended with that Civil War quote while the Miller quote is simply just against not blindly following orders.
>>81317012
Actually every time I read this page makes me literally cry and makes me feel just a little bit better. Having the perfect and most busy man to ever exist, to you maybe even omniscient, fly up to you and tell you you're worth it and so much stronger than you know even though you feel like you're a piece of shit and just want to die, that would be enough. It wouldn't cure your depression and that's not what the page is implying. It would do what Superman is supposed to do first and foremost: give you hope.
>>81317118
Well, I can understand that if coming from Superman, but I don't expect it to work if coming from an average joe.

>>81317264
Of course not in most situations. Although sometimes just hearing it from somebody can be enough albeit not if you're already on a ledge. You ever call a suicide hotline by the way? It'll ring for up to a minute sometimes and then they'll typically be short with you and sound like they're rolling their eyes. Almost always young girls and maybe it's just a resume builder or some shit since it's obvious they don't give two shits or really even listening.
Fun fact: Seconds before James Holmes shot up 4U: The Motion Picture he called a crisis hotline to talk him out of it. The other side of the line disconnected his call after nine seconds without even answering.

I've said it before, but a huge thing I love about comics is how it can all somehow exist together. The real and the absurd, the mighty and the weak, the dark and the light, etc etc. It's just fun that next to a being like Darkseid can stand Captain Carrot, or Howard the Duck and Frank Castle, and it's all together somehow.
>>81318084
That was the best part.
It was so imaginative, you had no fucking clue what was going to happen.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, babies suddenly dying for no reason anyone can tell.
Its something that happens in real life. When the titular Sandman was spending some time with his sister for some mental clarity, she dealt with one of those cases.
Its worth noting Sandman Death doesn't actually kill people, her job is to show up and bring them to wherever they are supposed to go next depending on a LOT of factors.
Mainly whatever you believe is where you go. A small child who's father told him he was worthless and evil and died went to hell because he was full of guilt, brainwashed Nazi SS went to purgatory (they were kept out of heaven) because they didn't believe they had done anything wrong. When asked about why good people go to hell and evil people don't, Death responds "That's the system they came up with, not mine".
>>81325232
So, what, you're upset the character didn't launch into a speech about how everyone is judged separately according to arbitrary variables they couldn't possibly understand due to being mortals or some other hollow gay bullshit? Death comes for you. That's about as pure as you can get.
>>81325308
What point? That's something that happens in real life. He's not trying to sell you on some moral lesson, he's showing his character doing their job.
When you have a character who is the grim reaper, are you going to only show them taking old people and super villains? Or just hang around doing nothing all the time?
Or are you going to have the balls to show a character who takes EVERYONE?

>>81324789
Wataminute... is that the defining post for Dick or Bruce?
>>81325477
Its suspected that it has something to do with babies being on their backs, but nobody is sure.
Also, in Sandman every story ever told or fable ever believed in is true, in a sense. Every afterlife really exists, and the people who believe in them go to them if their own believed-in beings will take them. Different afterlives can dispute or war over who gets what soul. Its not clear what comes first, belief or existence.
Sandman is pretty conceptual in a lot of ways, heavy on the multiverse except instead of going to different dimensions within a multiverse its a flat out "everything is true, somewhere".
Judeo-Christian hell and the omnipotent God exists. Heaven and Hell both exist.
Are they supreme? Is Abrahamic the real truth? Who knows! Because the Greek and Egyptian pantheons exist too, and seem just as real and true as everyone else does.
The Endless, universal concepts become anthropomorphic entities, are merely aspects of what they are. You can dream without Dream. Desire still goes on whether Desire is manipulating or not. Destruction completely abdicated his post, and Destruction still continues to happen although its more chaotic and random without him.
Seriously, read that shit.

>>81325582
I honestly don't remember, it's been so long since I've read it. I have to dig my copies out again.
Here's some anecdotes about Sandman though.
>Sandman gives flesh to concepts like dream, desire and destiny, but it is really about stories and the people who tell them. "Three Septembers and a January," a tale about not giving in to despair, stars Abraham Joshua Norton, self-proclaimed Emperor of the United States of America and part of San Francisco legend. A perky anthropomorphized female Death, based on a kabbalistic description of the Angel of Death, comes to claim the Jewish Norton at the end of the story: "They say the world rests on the backs of... 36 unselfish men and women," Death, a popular character in an extremely popular series, tells him. "Because of them the world continues to exist."...
>One of the greatest story arcs, and most memorable for me by far, was "Season of Mists" from The Sandman line by Neil Gaiman. A quick recap for you uninitiated into the greatness that is Neil Gaiman: Lucifer decides he's had it being lord of the underworld and gives Morpheus the key to Hell (mind you, there's a bunch of in-between stuff I'm leaving out here). As the two entities are walking through the various aspects of Hell, Lucifer explains why he's leaving. "Why do they blame me for all their little failings? They use my name as if I spend my entire day sitting on their shoulders, forcing them to commit acts they would otherwise find repulsive. 'The devil made me do it.' I have never made one of them do anything. Never. They live their own tiny lives. I do not live their lives for them .... They talk of my going around and buying souls ?never stopping to ask themselves why. I need no souls. And how can anyone own a soul? No. They belong to themselves They just hate to have to face up to it."

Caesar was arrogant as hell, and caused his own downfall. He ended up with literally nobody even willing to make a token effort to stop his assassination. Even his adoptive son hated his fucking guts, so he reached that point where money and power don't outweigh your hatred and disgust of the man anymore.
Napoleon wasn't really feared. He was ambitious and imperialistic, but his government was stable and his attitudes were not really anything drastically different from those of his contemporaries. Luthor is idolizing 100% villains.

He's to Boomerangs what Green Arrow is to a bow and arrow. It's not explicitly a superpower but it might as well be once you include all the gadgets that he can pull out of nowhere.
This sums her up too perfectly. And also may be sexist. Meh, whatev'.
>>81311075
>>81311488
The best part isn't that he somehow beats actual threats with boomerangs, it's that he does it so easily and so well he can shit talk you the whole time and you can't do a thing about it.
And then he's a washed up fat hasbeen who gets shot in the gut by Tim Drake's zero training father and dies.

Rorschach was a parody of a lot of different superheroes. The Question is the main one though, but The Question himself is based on some of the original comic proto-superhero detectives like The Phantom.
>>81326034
Believe it or not, that was actually a conservative belief in Cap's time.
Liberals were all about progress in all areas at all times. Conservatives were about maintaining order, not growing faster than you can regulate.
Social welfare programs only became a strictly liberal thing when the Red Scare made conservatism the staunch defenders of ultra-capitalism.
Its only fairly recently that advocating small government was exclusively conservative and being for a strong federal government a liberal ideal. Back in the day, the parties would shift back and forth on where they fall on that with whoever wanted small government states rights being who was counting on the deep south to carry them into an election win.

Mad Stan, from Batman Beyond.
Screams random incoherent gibberish about inequality and brainwashing and the disease of society and being slaves to the machine while blowing stuff up and riding around on a jetpack.
Used in a popular internet meme where you replace something in an animated .gif with Mad Stan yelling and an explosion. It predated the Nigel Thornberry edits.

Ant-man
Explain me this : if AM somehow will run-off Pim practicles while still being shrunk will he eventually return to his original size, or he will be extremely fucked up forever? I knew there was
story when Atom lost his belt.
And also how AM works in comics? Is he extremely thick, alot more invulnerable and highly energetic in his "little" state like in movie (which was badass for me)?
Also what's deference between Ant-man and Atom besides shrinking device origin?
Sorry for bad English.
>>81329641
>if AM somehow will run-off Pim practicles while still being shrunk will he eventually return to his original size, or he will be extremely fucked up forever? I knew there was
>story when Atom lost his belt.
Pym Particles are only needed for the actual size change. It would theoretically be possible for someone to be stuck small or large.
>And also how AM works in comics?
It's EXTREMELY inconsistent. Sometimes he needs a serum with pym particles in it, sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he keeps his mass and becomes superdense and strong. Sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he can't grow too big because of the square/cubed law. Sometimes he doesn't. There is absolutely no consistency to how the powers work.
>Also what's deference between Ant-man and Atom besides shrinking device origin?
For a long time Atom could go sub atomic while Pym couldn't, but that's stopped being true a long time ago. Generally speaking Ant-Man can grow super big, where as The Atom can't. Ant-Man also tends to have a bunch of other science gadgets, energy blasts, controlling insects, flight, stuff like that.
Pym Particles are kinda like Speedforce. They do as much or as little as the writer wants that particular day, with 0 consistency.
>>81329994
Sooo if someone been shrunked he will never regrow without particles? That's stupid.
