Olaf was a frankly unnecessary part of the movie that was designed to appeal to the Minion crowd. The movie would've been much better without him and his bullshit.

>the Minion crowd
Yeah because Disney would never think to add baffling, unnecessary, and intrusive whacky characters for comedic effect without seeing someone else do it first. Nope. Never.

There is a difference between "I liked it" and "It's a good movie".

Frozen was a solid movie which got seriously overhyped, but it was far from the level of greatness represented by movies such as Alladin, Toy Story or Zootopia.

>>
>>81223348
This. It was good, but not THAT good. Both Tangled and Wreck-it Ralph were better, and Zootopia, man, that just blows Frozen away.
>>
>>81223244
I thought he helped add some balance to the movie so that it didn't feel so depressing. The scene where he nearly melts himself to help Anna added an extra element to his character so he wasn't just for comedic reasons either.
>>
>>81223401
It was a good movie and mai waifu is in it. I think Tangled is pretty much the same damn thing though, and contrarians on /co/ make it up to be the second coming.
>>
>>81223209

>>81223209

Congratulations !! you are the one of cool kids in 4chan now !!
>>
>>81223507
>I think Tangled is pretty much the same damn thing though

Tangled is more solid story-wise.

Frozen loses its shit after the first act.
>>
>>81223244

Olaf exist because kids like it.

Adults like us dont. in fact, its fucking annoying.
>>
>>81223507
Not to sound hipster, but I literally loved Tangled from the start. Lots of people here did. Back in the day we had Tangled Generals. Just because lots of people share the opinion that Tangled >>> Frozen doesn't mean they're contrarian. It IS better than Frozen. So is Wreck-it Ralph. So is Zootopia. Frozen was good, not great. I wouldn't even rank it in the top 10 best Disney movies.
>>
>>81223053
Most people liked it that's how it got popular, it's what happened next that got peoples panties in a bunch
>>
>>81223053

I like it too, but it could have been much better with fewer songs. I've seen it twice and the only songs I remember are Let It Go and Do You Want To Build A Snowman.
>>
I think Frozen has been the victim of a huge backlash thanks to the /frz/ autists.

If zootopia fans got that bad you know there'd be a backlash too. Probably worse because furries.

Not that frozen was as good as zootopia but it was still enjoyable.
>>
>>81223401
I don't get the worship over Tangled. Its literally exactly as good as Frozen. Both are good, but they arent as memorable as Smash It Steve or Zootopia. I'd rank Big Hero 6 in that tier too

Inside Out, since /co/ seems to hate it now, at least as far as I've seen in the Zootopia threads. Though the Inside Out may have resonated with me more than a lot of other people because I too moved from Minnesota to SoCal at about Riley's age and felt similarly about it.

Zootopia is still better though.

Olaf is a symbol of Elsa's love for Anna and of their relationship. That's why he's the first thing that Elsa makes and brings life to when she's finally feeling free during Let it Go and that's why he accompanies Anna throughout her journey and dispenses surprisingly adult wisdom for such a childlike character when she's freezing to death in the castle: he's childlike because their relationship never developed past childhood, but still loyal and important. He, as Elsa's love, unlocks the door that sets Anna free. He finds and brings Anna to Elsa. He reminds Anna that love is about caring about others first, right after she sees Hans leave, the person who claimed to have loved her but didn't, so Olaf, as a symbol of Elsa's absent love, could enter.

Yes, most of his antics appeal to the kids and for the kids. But Olaf isn't unnecessary from a story perspective.
>>
>>81223832
You clearly haven't been to the Zootopia threads. People are giving them a free pass, /frz/ is only a meme.

For a movie called "Minions", it was way better than I expected, to the point that I thought it was a very good flick, and I just watched it because I was with my nephews one day and it was on dvd at their house.

>>81224766
Not gonna lie, the trailers make it look pretty fun. Not something you'd watch repeatedly but that's okay.

I like it too. I don't remember liking a Disney movie that much since turning 11. It completely overwhelmed me, dragged me into the fandom, made me a shipper, a real shipper for the first time in my life, I even started writing fanfiction ffs. I didn't expect it at all.

It's strange since I can see the movie's errors, how rushed and full of plot holes the writing is, how shoddy and rushed the animation is in a lot of places, I don't much like a lot of the songs - but none of it matters, there's just something about the damn movie that makes me love it. I think it's the way the characters are built.

I can't wait for the sequel, or the shorts. Ah well, at least I'm not alone in this madness
>>
>>81224468
>Olaf is a symbol of Elsa's love for Anna
Not quite.

He represents innocent love, the childlike joy and happiness the sisters shared. He's the first thing Elsa makes because the moment he was created was also the last carefree and truly happy memory Elsa has, just before she struck Anna and the fear and guilt and isolation took over.

However, saying that he's only specifially a symbol of Elsa's love for Anna is a slight misrepresentation.
>>
>>81225644
Fair point, and fair post. I find his status as a relationship that bridges the physical gap between the sisters more important than his symbol as innocent love because the movie is about their reconciliation, but I can accept that reading.
>>
>>81223053
That one show about the horses with close relationships.

>>
I liked Frozen when I first watched it, but a month later when the TV display at work in a supermarket was playing nothing but Frozen on loop all day, it ruined the film for me. I haven't seen it since then and I can still hear the bluray menu music on loop.

On the other hand, I did get to switch it with Jungle Book and Lion King one night.

Disney really wants to hide lesbians as "Sisterly Love"

Sisterly Love in real life is not like that.
>>
>>81228087

It's just a writing snafu. They seem incapable of writing a close, platonic relationship between sisters that doesn't come off as slightly romantic.

At the very least, it makes them seem staggeringly co-dependent.

It was a borderline enjoyable movie but the story, visuals, and everything else is so blatantly formulaic that I can't grasp why we had a 500+ chain of generals dedicated to it.

Also, BvS wasn't as bad as I expected it to be but its still a polished turd.
>>

I really liked the trailer with them serving under different "evil" people
It would have been better as a movie like shaun the sheep, a silent comedy

If It came out in the 90's it would've been a classic, on par with Mulan, but easily better than Pocahontas.
