So is the nu52 nightwing worth reading. Read the midnighter that had him in it and loved that so im planning to read grayson. but wondering if i should go back and read some nu52 nightwing for the lead up to grayson.

I didn't read Nightwing, but my understanding is that it doesn't really set up for Grayson but you can read the last issue to bridge the gap from cape to spy.

Batman Inc is probably more necessary with the Spyral stuff but you can get by without it.

You don't need to read Forever Evil for Grayson either, since the first trade as the small Secret Origins story that covers it and more.

But New 52 Nightwing was pretty ehhhh overall. #19-#29 is readable if you like Dick, but the issues before it kept getting jerked around by crossovers

the actual new52 nightwing series was awful - ugly art, villain-of-the-week style story, didn't manage to stick any recurring cast beyond like 2 issues.

Grayson was great if you liked Midnighter, and the Forever Evil ending sets up Grayson much more than Nightwing does (and has plenty of gayer-than-expected shit with Owlman.)

I hated amalgam and marvel vs dc. But i secretly want a crossover where nightwing is transported to the marvel universe and has to team up with moon knight for a story. Just so when he got back he could go hug batman as a show of thanks for the fact that he was batmans sidekick instead of that face cutting psychopath.

Dick owning a circus and traveling across the states is a really great idea for a comic. As was him reopening Amusement Mile.

It's such a damn shame it was bogged down by crossovers and mandates that the Batbooks all needed to be dark.
