The comics are too desperate for money to do it permanently, movies though have never given a shit. Nolan refrained from doing it and it clearly backfired.

Batman is inherently a criminal. Vigilantism is illegal. He goes far above and breaks the law every night.

Because it could potentially be another defining moment for Batman. Imagine, if you will:

Someone (a family member of one of his victims, maybe a cop who's had enough, etc) shoots the Joker in the head while he's being marched up the steps to court.
Batman, horrified, attempts to apprehend the person, who calls him a coward before blowing their own head off.

The media reception is mixed, although it seems like the majority of people are happy about a mass murderer getting his comeuppance.

The positive reaction to the killing causes Batman great mental distress, making him question his place in the world and whether or not he is necessary.

Of course, it would eventually culminate in him saving a large number of people by doing things his way, and he'd be right back on track fighting crime.

Joker should die and stay dead regardless, he's way past overused and it's time for the rest of Batman's rogues to shine.

It doesn't matter if he starts dealing drugs or killing people. What he already does is a criminal act and the Gotham police is corrupt for aiding and abetting him the same way they don't pursue any permanent solution to Joker or the other mass murdering freaks.

That's the point you are missing here. Batman doesn't kill people. Batman refused to be Judge jury and executioner. It is not his fault that the government of Gotham doesn't fund the prison system enough to keep the joker from escaping. It is not batman's fault that the joker keeps killing people. It's the failed government.

No, its not Batman's fault. Its Bruce Wayne's fault. He has all the money, connections and power to change shit for good. He doesn't. Wayne should just upgrade the prison for free. He doesnt. And he does is clearly not enough.

And regarding its the Government fault! Maybe the first time. maybe the second time. But the third time Batman handles the Joker to the cops and they let him escape, the people Joker kills are all on batman's. He knows the government cant hold this fuck and he still gives them the prisoners. Specially when he has other options like personal prisons or the phantom zone....or just killing them. Imagine if Batman killed the Joker with a gun from the shadows. Everyone would just say another criminal did it. no one would blame Batman. People would still believe in the system.

The REAL reason for Batman's no-kill rule is so that his rogue's gallry can be reused. There is literally no reason why Joker should still be alive in the DCEU. ESPECIALLY after he killed Robin.

They just want to milk the Joker as long as they can and they can't milk something that's dead. It could still work if the Joker wasn't nearly as horrible as he is now but as time goes on it feels like everyone is trying to one up Joker's actions and it's come to a point that it's stupid.
