He wrote one of the best Wonder Woman runs many years ago. He then was promised All Star Wonder Woman, but DC ended up giving it to Grant Morrison, which turned into Wonder Woman Earth One. He got really bitter about it and left DC for a long time. Now he's back and getting to write the story he always wanted to.

He's also just one of the better comic book writers of the past 15-20 years and is good at writing female characters.

Greg Rucka wrote Wonder Woman in the early 2000s, did a really good run on it but got cut short. He also co-wrote Gotham Central with Ed Brubaker and was a part of the team that made 52, two of the best things DC has ever put out. He did a fantastic Batwoman story with JH Williams III on Detective Comics. And he's done a ton of indie work like Queen and Country, Lazarus and Stumptown.

Sadly, wanting to sacrifice New Wally for Old Wally is the exact thinking that brought back Barry & Hal and got us all into this mess.

All we can do now is hope they give the new kid some actually good stories & characterisation, like they FINALLY got around to with Babsgirl.

Also: kind of unfair to call Wally a slighlty dumber Barry. Original flavour Barry was as charismatic as a loaf of bread. Most of Barry's modern characterisation is more or less copy-pasted from Wally.
