I'm still looking forward to it because I know people who despised MoS and still loved BvS and I'm sure that it'll look amazing in IMAX.

At the same time I don't want to support it financially because I want WB to get the fucking hint and dump Snyder.

Why does Batman always wear his batgear when he's operating outside of Gotham? Like in TDK he went in as Bruce and then Batman to China. It's incriminating to say the least. Why not just wear regular tactical gear to hide your identity so people can't put two and two together?
>>
Regardless of what the current reviews are I'm still going to see it this weekend. I'm still stoked just for Batfleck alone. Seeing an old veteran Batman that still kicks all kinds of ass onscreen is a person wish of mine that I get to see achieved. Also I found the recent soundtrack to be more than enjoyable and I'm certain will at the very least provide an interesting take on the Batman Superman Mythology.

He was fucking scary, and not in a Joker 'erratic' way. He was inside everyone's head, like the best Lex comic incarnations. And the ending makes it clear that, in a way, he's the one who orchestrates all the cosmic shit that's about to happen in the JL movies.

I think most of them actually don't care much about RT. It's just a thing that gets people riled when they spam post it and they only post it when it serves their point.

Or at least that's what I hope.

>>
>>81041995
>the audience score is much higher
Anon more people scored it then could possibly have seen it.
And even fanboy reviewers who legitimately wanted this to be a great movie admit it just isnt. Im not saying its bad and Im still hype as hell to watch it again but there is nothing wrong with enjoying a 6/10 movie and hopefully the negative reviews will finally get a better director attached to the franchise.
The actors did a great job.
The story is at times good to great.
The action is phenomenal
But there are too many narrative issues shoehorned cameos and just general directoral and scripting issues to make it it great
>>
>>81042082
But, WHY? I mean I havent seen it yet but why would he send out a such a beacon that would put earth in such mortal danger?
>>
>>81042140
And as you just demonstrated RT is an easy way to start company wars with simple comparison images.
>>
>>81042166
>>81042191

Nah, he just seems REALLY jealous of Superman. On the outside, he claims it's just about the alien menace that is Kal-El, but on the inside, there's definitely jealousy, resentment etc. He hates how Superman is seen as a God and would rather the world die than see that guy as the savior. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think he wantes the world to die, I think he believes he can manipulate the cosmic shit that's coming, since he got the knowledge from the kryptonian ship.
>>
>>81042187

The movie has been out in lots of places around the world (Brazil, Australia) since March 22 in the US. Lots of people have seen it already.

Is this the most controversial comic book movie ever?
>>
>>81042187
It was squarely focused on the directing. Everyone can see that now. The script has snappy dialogue and tackles some cool themes. The performances ranged from great to near-perfect. The cinematography was on the money.
The editing and straight up piecing together of scenes is unbelievably bad. Like, Man of Steel had some terrible cuts (such as the interrogation scene to the desert Kryptonian first contact) but BvS fails in even basic transitions. It's so bad, and it fails to capture any kind of overarching emotional tone.

>>81042461

He doesn't do as much as, say, the Joker in The Dark Knight, but he's very effective. He killed lots of people in the movie, orchestrated the death of an important character, figured some stuff out really quickly etc
>>
>>81042671
See no one in the world knows that bud except you and me. I know tons of people who love arrow who have no idea what its rotten tomato score is. Though I'd bet a lot of them remember what scores a certain movie got at some point.
>>
This movie was incredible but it definitely is not for everyone, it's basically a serious and character driven DC extravaganza.
>>
>>81042714
Did he directly kill a lot of people? Was it clever how he orchestrated the important character's death?
>>
>>81042461
he already knows the identity of Clark, Bruce, Diana, Barry, Cyborg and Aquaman. He engineers an ingenious psychological taunt scheme to goad Bruce fight Clark to the death and throughout the movie does several intricate moves that pushes the anti-Superman sentiment to new spheres. He's scary as fuck intelligent and ruthless as hell.

>>
A lot of people are losing their shit because a clickbait article quoted Znyder out of context to further the "man of murder" thing.
Znyder said in an interview that The Force Awakens had far more collateral damage since planets were destroyed. The article then claimed that Znyder said that Superman can destroy cities because Darth Vader does so.
Needless to say, no Darth Vader or even Superman were mentioned in that part of the interview, but a lot of people are taking the article's word for it and doomsaying.
Just pointing it out for those who may stumble upon people falling for it.
>>
>>81042798
How much older are your co-workers? Are they that unrelatable?
>>
>>81042768

This. I was surprised by how cunning and intelligent he was. It actually made sense why Clark would want to "get in the ring" and fight Bruce. Plus, when Lex talks about how Martha Kent should be burned as a witch, it was brutal His theme song was amazing as well.

JK and Jesse would rather do oscar bait than cape CBMs, unless the scripts were good.
>>
>>81043598
Not sure. His resume is a bit too short to truly know if he's a good writer or not.

Good scripts can have bad execution and bad scripts can have good execution from what I hear.
>>
>>81043598
It isn't the script though. The dialogue is quite good, and nowhere near as clunky as Goyer's MoS. It's just Snyder sucking complete dick at bridging scenes together in general.

man those reviews seem overly harsh. I mean a lot of the critics are even saying that BvS is better than Man of Steel but its in like the 30s

Not exactly, 2 reviews that decided to analyze her a bit said of her 15 or 16 lines, only a few actual sounded ok, the rest were apparently just deadpan readings or something, the rest is more likely her being cgi in fighting Doomsday or some such so they aren't entirely sure it's worth rating her performance as you could probably just shove any actress in and do the same.

I think it's for Marvel's better interest that this movie succeeds. If Marvel was the only one making cape movies, people would get tired quickly. The genre needs variety and competition to stay alive.

If this movie is successful, Snyder is gonna be involved in all JL movies like Bay.

I really don't get the negativity. The movie was great, it had great worldbuilding, some very good lines too. It's like people want this movie to suck.

BVS has Supermab actively saving people, Final Crisis foreshadowing, a Motherbox fusing with Victor Stone, it even may have a hint at the Hyper-Adapter. Christ, it's everything I hoped so and then some.

He kills a guy in a helicopter with an RPG, blows people up and shoots them with the batwing, blows up cars chasing him down, and I think at least one of the people he beat up was straight up killed.

Yeah, it's a complete affront to his established character, but what are you going to do?

Snyder bros, I know you are out there, I'm a Snyder fan as well who loved almost everyone of his movies and I waited 3 years for this and now I'm gonna watch it in a few hours. The latest reviews have even made me a little skeptical but I still think it should be not as bad as people say.

Snyderbros you are not alone, we survived the years of constant MoS shitposting and it was obvious Snyder haters were just waiting for this moment but that doesn't matter, we'll survive this shitstorm as well.
>>
>>81046173
Sweet then we can get that scene as the intro.
>>
>>81045103

You can argue for either side, a bad bvs gets more people hyped for civil war or a bad bvs fatigues the genre.

I'm for having variety though, I liked that in 2013 I had man of murder, kick ass 2, iron man 3, wolverine and thor 2. Not the strongest line up but they were all pretty different. I just hope a bvs failure doesn't end up fucking flash and aquaman.

Batman killing does get addressed. Batman lost everybody and is acting like a old and wounded tiger close to his last days. He's going all out against Superman.

Then in the end with the death of Superman he sees the error of his ways and stop killing. Superman saves him. Superman saves Batman. He was not his enemy.
>>
>>81046312
But it is never addressed. And Supes' death was never said to have anything to do with it anyways
>>
>>81046419

Yes, it is. Batman was going to mark Luthor and didn't. He wanted to wreck his shit so hard but still stopped himself.

Also, between the possibility that Lex might be controlled by Darkseid, Final Crisis Style, and that hallucination of the demon exploding from Thomas Wayne's grave (Hyper-Adapter? Secret Bat cult?) I'm positive we'll see some great Morrison-tier developments in the future.
>>
>>81046461

It's basically a callback to an earlier conversation and it works very well when you understand the context.
>>
>>81046514
I hope this movie fails so badly, so I will not see my favorite comic storyline manhandled by some objectivist with the attention span of a gnat and the delusions of artistry
>>
>>81046419

You want a line where Bruce says to Alfred 'I'm responsible for his death, Alfred. I have to change. We have to change. And by change i mean stop killing. That's what i meant by change. I'll stop killing. I can't stress this enough. No more dead bodies for me, sir. No no."?
>>
>>81046455

>>81046523

>>
>>81046455
He was just threatening him, anon. He was already in prison anyways. Killing him there would've been beyond ridiculous
>>
>>81046543

The film is literally littered with great moments like that. Lex confronting Superman after throwing Lois down the skyscraper and Clark going down on his knees when he finds out Lex has his mother... Jesus, I was so choked up and terrified.
>>
>>81046562

Threatening him would be pointless. He's already in prison as you said. He was going to fucking murder him. That's what. He just stopped himself. Superman's death change Bruce. That and the visions. The world need heroes.
>>
>>81046553
/tv/ is spreading shitty lies about Lex making Finch drink his own piss, but in truth it's a surprisingly intimidating "don't fuck with Luthor" moment. You can see the terror in Finch's eyes when she realizes what that means.
>>
>>81046542
you're not proving anything
>>
The biggest sin of this movie is that they don't spoonfeed the audience about what's happening.
>>
>>81046575
I loved the "WHERE IS SHE?" moment, and then Clark saying he has to SPEAK to Bruce and seek his help, and only fighting back when he realizes Bruce just want to kill him.. People here say Snyder doesn't get Superman, but I'm really wondering whether /co/ does.
>>
>>81046589
There is no possible way that obnoxious little shit in the trailer is any good. I'll wait for this movie to be free on demand, watch it and come back and I will be right
>>
>>81046543
I didn't like the movie but I'll admit that the painting was a GOAT tease.
>>
>>81046553

Honestly, it's great. The Senator basically uses the piss jar idiom as a way to say he can smell Lex's bullshit a mile away and won't have any of it. Then later Lex uses the piss jar jab as a way to troll the Senator just seconds before he blows up the Senate hearing, so it's basically a personalized fuck you note to her before she gets killed.
>>
>>81046598

Let's just agree to disagree then I just think that Superman's death changed Bruce. You can see his guilt on his face and a new found sense of hope. If his meetup with Luthor, after everything he had pulled, happened before Superman's death i think Bruce would absolutely kill Luthor's ass. Just like how he was about to kill Superman himself before. But Superman's death changed him and that's why he backed off. But whatever. That's just my interpretation.
>>
>>81046584
>He was going to fucking murder him. That's what
So Batman was actually a fucking criminal who killed anyone he had a grudge on? You're trying too hard to prove character development the movie never actually had
>>
>>81046619
Same anon from >>81046589 here. I hoped for a colder, intellectual Luthor but in the end I found him just right. He feels he's on a separate level from mere humans, the neurotic moments made me feel he was actually constantly dumbing down his train of thought to make it understandable. And when he decides to be intimidating behind closed doors he really is.
>>
>>81046666
>>81046584
>>81046662

We need to remember Batman has been doing this for 20ish years in this movie. Maybe he had a no kill policy that ended when Robin died. Maybe he decided not to kill again after Superman died
>>
>>81046666

Wasn't Batman going to kill Superman?

You see in the first and half of the second half this violent and vengeful person, then in the last moments of the second half this same person is looking at the future with a better outlook and pulling his punches. Can you honestly say that nothing changed?
>>
>>81046700
I could roll with fan theories, but
>Maybe he decided not to kill again after Superman died
Still doesn't make sense to me
>>
>>81045967
>>81045892
See, the tie-in books and comics clearly stated he doesn't, yes he became more brutal after Robin died but all his methods are still nonlethal so I wonder if there was miscommunication or Snyder just failed to clarify this. Either way, he's to blame.
>>
>>81046720
Bruce flat-put says "I betrayed him in life, I will not betray him in death. Men are still good". Supes' sacrifice inspired him to regain the hope he lost after Jason died. If that's not a true Superman moment I don't know what could be.

Between the differential of audience/critic scores on RT and then the scores on IMDB its a complete cluster fuck.

Sincerely, I don't know how so many people can hate it while a good amount of people at the very least thought it was "on par". I truly think Marvel (and Deadpool) might have done the exact damage we feared they would. Now, I love me some Marvel flicks but the casuals (and critics are ALL casuals) all want their quips and their optimism.

When one of the major sticking points is "this popcorn flick wasn't a popcorn flick like I expected" I can't really see that as a demerit.

>>
>THIS MOVIE WAS NOT A MOVIE, IT WAS A MOTION COMIC

Cinematography was beautiful. Each still was a work of art. The camera angles always looked right. It felt like reading comic panels with incredibly good art.

Transitions could have been subtitled with a "Meanwhile..." and it would not have been out of place. So many distinct dynamic shifts in scenery.

Pacing felt like pages were being turned as one plot leads to the next. Some frenetic subplots thrown in that would be casually accepted by diehards as comic book tropes (alternate worlds, dreamvisions, otherworldly warnings by familiar strangers), but everyone else was left scratching their heads.

In many ways Snyder tried to make the audience feel like they were viscerally experiencing the inside of a comic book adventure. A comic book come to life if you will.

I don't really give any of them any stock but I'd agree, IMDB is a joke and even the RT is just as much a joke most casuals take that score as gospel.

I haven't seen disparity like this ever though. Surely if Fan4stic didn't have this much damage control it can't just be fake fans saying it's great.

Disney is the only company in the world with the money to push a rating score whichever direction they want.

Anyone with enough desire can push IMDB scores around.
Rotten Tomatoes is an aggregation of critic reviews from across the country.

Just posting this because I'm tired of piss jar being turned into a meme. Despite at face value that being silly, it works in the film and is earned.

Holly Hunter interrupts Lex's big speech of the "oldest lie in America" dethroning him as the intellectual superior in the conversation. He is unable to convince the Senator and Jesse does a great fucking job in showing how much it ticks Lex off. So what does Lex do? He literally uses her words against her. The pee and the bomb. But not before finishing off his speech of "oldest lie in America" and sending her to her death.

I don't know why, but this particular meme just bugs the shit out of me. I thought it was actually used as a great characterization of this version of Lex.

But anyway for others who haven't seen it yet and are still holding out hope, I salute you, keep hanging on.
>>
>>81049137
>Like a jar of piss?

Why are people so infatuated with the piss jar? It works perfectly in-context in the movie and is one of the best Lex scenes. Are people that juvenile that they have to go "tee-hee, peepee juice!"

>Or a wheelchair bomb?
I fail to see how this is meant to be in anyway bad. Just two days ago terrorists blew up luggage bag bombs, how is hiding a bomb in a wheelchair ridiculous?

>Or do you mistake brooding for seriousness?

The movie dwells deep into the pros and cons and subsequent consequences of superhero action in real life, as well as the political aspect and ethics of it. How is that not serious?

>>81049160
Well clearly it needs to be entirely silver age Batman and Superman shenanigans right up to the shake hands moment, and nobody gets as much as a scraped knee.
>>
So I just saw it. Why the fuck did people say Batman gives his DKR speech? I think he had one line that was the same and Superman was the hero of the film in every way

Uhh... The entire story takes place because Lex manipulated both Bruce and Clark into positions where the result is a massive anti-superman sentiment in America and Bruce getting complete tunnel vision when it comes to taking down Superman, to a point where murdering Superman sounds entirely peachy
>>
How do you explain the early raving reviews?
What happened to "a scene that makes the toughest shed a tear"? Did they cut that scene out?
>>
>>81049330
What, they didn't give MoS its 85%?
That film was hard to sit through and impossible to watch twice.
>>
>>81049160
Superman knows billionaire Lex Luthor is masterminding some world threatening plot, but can't prove it, doesn't know enough to stop it, just beating up Lex wouldn't do anything but make people trust him less. He seeks out and enlists the help of Batman, world's greatest detective and GCPD's secret weapon. By combining their talents and resources they thwart a scheme that would definitely give Lex full control over all of North and South America, and give him a foothold to take over the world. Get rid of this vs nonsense, call it World's Finest,

Along the way they meet Wonder Woman and the Amazons, as well as Aquaman and the Atanteans, as Lex has made deals with their respective enemies. They fight side by side at the climax. and the denouement sets up their making a formal alliance with each other and forming the Justice League.

Shit can still be dark and gritty but its about exceptional people struggling against a dark and gritty world without getting swallowed up by it

Just watched the movie. Sold 6/10. Yeah, pretty messy and the ending sucked very hard, but overall really watchable and there is a lot of cool stuff there.
What I liked a lot:
Batfleck killed it, loved every second of him.
Wondy stuff was very good too, especially her theme.
Great action scenes except final one, which was pretty chaotic and CGI was lacking.
Cameos felt forced and all JL preparations too.

>Perhaps the kindest thing you can say about Zack Snyder’s film – a sequel to his superb standalone Superman movie Man of Steel (2013

How am I supposed to take a criticism of this seriously from someone praising MOS, which was also called shit by every critic? Only proves critics opinions mean absolutely squat

>Rather than opting to mimic the colour, warmth and wit of the Marvel superhero franchise, Snyder wants to show us gods and monsters, battling against a backdrop of lightning and smoke. Every other scene is a murky allusion to classical mythology or baroque religious art.

What is wrong with this? I like fun as much as the next guy but everything doesn't have to be a light hearted comedy, especially not what are SUPPOSED to be action movies, I see nothing wrong with trying to set a serious tone rather than making everything a big joke

If he'd started out by calling MOS shit you probably would've given him shit for that too.
And that second quote isn't supposed to be a negative in itself, it's supposed to lead up to the next line:
>But that’s categorically all they are: the film regularly defies common sense and logic in order to cue up the next cod-transfiguration or pietà. When Lois Lane (Amy Adams) hurls that kryptonite spear into the water, she does it for no apparent reason other than the fact it looks, like, totally cool – and accordingly, she and Superman are fishing it back out again five minutes later.

You're a selective idiot.
>>

It doesn't take a genius to know that film critics literally suck dick for money. I already told you a few replies ago that you can look at any movie under the sun and critics will score it universally lower than the audience for no reason whatsoever except for the fact that they're incapable of enjoying movies.

Guess you want me to take the critic score of Sharknado seriously? Because critics must know a lot about film! They know so much that they gave Sharknado an 82%!

Literally why are you so asspained? Are you a self-proclaimed critic as well? Do you have your own blog on blogspot where you write reviews for your 3 friends to see? There's no reason for you to be this upset unless I struck a nerve somewhere.

HAHAHAHAHA

Having a tantrum that critics have opinions? That their job is entirely based around them giving their impression of a film's quality? That some might like / dislike different films (such as Man of Steel)? What exactly is your problem little man?

And this critic isn't attempting to say that there is something wrong with 'Gods/Monsters' 'baroque art' etc. If you were capable of reading - you'd know that he's attempting to describe WHY the film doesn't work. That Snyder has bitten off more than he can chew.

The issue is not that the film attempts these things but that it doesn't succeed.

You know those anti-DC conspiracy theories everyone's been going on about? I think I might have stumbled onto one this morning. >I may have been disappointed with "Batman v Superman", but one of the highlights of that film was Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. EW has just released the first official image from the flick and it shows Gadot getting her amazON with her fellow warriors, including a fantastic looking Robin Wright. Looking forward to this one. Could have used a lot more of her in "BvS".
>Okay, wait a minute!... How'd they even populate Themyscira if there were no men there?
>(I just hope they scrap the invisible jet. That's even worse. I mean, didn't you ever wonder how Diana ever flew that thing, given that it was invisible? Like, how'd she even see the controls?)
>I wanted a Wonder Woman costume when I was a little tyke (5yrs old at the time).
>Sadly mom wasn't keen on her very skimpy costume & made me wear a Spiderman one instead. Dear mom, there are worse things than your little girl wanting to be an asskicking Amazon in tight spandex.

By variation, I mean that they cut and paste random sentences from this selection as the header for their reposting the link to Entertainment Weekly's Wonder Woman still.

Maybe he was using MCU as a reference point. Or maybe he's just a normie.
