Is this film worth watching? If so is it worth watching in 3D?
I've nothing to do on that day (Other than smoke weed at my friend's at around 5 pm) but is it worth watching at any other time?
>>
Yes and I don't know I didn't see it in 3D
>>
3D's just a gimmick that makes a movie more expensive to make and watch.
>>
3D is great. Why omit a dimension? It's like faggots that think 'muh B&W film' makes their movie somehow more intrinsically 'artistic'

People that get headaches and shit from 3D, though.. that must suck. I feel for them.
>>
It's not a "3D makes it SO MUCH BETTER" type of movie at all, but might as well get to see it in 3D now before you're stuck with 2D DVD/Blu-ray months down the road.

I've seen it in 2D and 3D, watch it in 2D, at my theater the 3D ticket was $17 and although the 2D version sounded just fine, for whatever reason they spiked up the volume for the 3D one making it kinda obnoxious.
>>
>>81026423
Saw it in 3d. (It was either that or wait for 45 minutes for the next 2d showing.
the 3d is: okay. You are missing nothing if you aren't seeing it in 3d, but it's not doing anything silly or impractical in 3d that you won't appreciate just fine flat.

I could see them having openly gay characters in the sequel.

But not Nick or Judy. Obvious choices would either be the roommates or clawhauser (though I dunno if I see him with anyone really)

In standard 3d there isn't really much if an effect. However, if you get the chance to see it in IMAX the effect is extremely obvious - if anything it's worth it for the ultra-clear picture quality alone.

What makes it a "gimmick" ? I watched Zootopia in both IMAX and RealD, and they were both fine, although RealD looked better.

Usually the main point of going to the IMAX is the bigger screen and nicer seats. At least with our IMAX.
>>
>>81031094
I was pretty miffed that I wasn't able to access an Imax theater until days after it was replaced by cloverfield.
>>
3D just makes movies a bitch to watch. The glasses aren't entirely transparent and make the screen a whole lot darker as a result, if you try to take them off you get the luminosity back but it's a blurry mess, and if the movie is long you're going to feel your nose for quite some time afterwards.
All of that for a special effect where the only "spectacular" exploitation of it is ads about candy before the movie even starts.
>>
>>81030873
This is some high grade kek. But one can hardly blame her.
>>
>>81031124
There are a very small number of movies that are improved with 3D like Gravity or Mad Max: Fury Road, but it's pointless most of the time and I don't see how it could possibly do anything for Zootopia.
>>
>>81031094
I found the bigger screen to be a bit of an issue; it was TOO big. Even when I was sitting in the 2nd to top row, I could still only barely see the edges of the screen.

The seats weren't that much nicer than the regular theater. Might not be a difference, seeing as both the IMAX and regular theater are right next to each other, within the same mall, and owned by the same "cinema 16" company.
>>
>>81031225
It can create depth of field for the viewer, but most of the time its not really that noticeable.
>>
>>81031225
>I don't see how it could possibly do anything for Zootopia.

Animated movies with 3D are usually a lot better, since the 3D effect is easier to manage.

I watched KFP3 in 2D and then in 3D, and the 3D looked a hell of a lot better.

But yes, >>81031263 it's not a mindblowing 3D effect, you won't be constantly noticing it, but it is quite noticeable.
>>

I wanna see more like Judy's leg though, but with more application. It did cause them to have to come up with a plan, but after that it didn't really figure into the finale that much since everything after that was all as planned.

I didn't mind the dance party ending, since it was basically just a role call, it was completely disconnected from the rest of the story unlike, say, footloose (not that I'm saying Footloose should have ended in anything but a dance party considering the story)

>>
>>81037759
>"lad"
what are you, from Ireland or Scotland? never said I fantasized about the relationships, just enjoy them along with the character development, nearly every form of entertainment from books to movies to broadway has some form of relationship usually, it must be hell to try and enjoy things while actually thinking one specific thing that's so general is "stupid", again, you sound lonely, there's no reason to randomly hate that or think it's stupid, that kind of thing has been in entertainment since the dawn of time.

Most likely you're just going against the majority to be edgy.
>>
>>81037235

There is no fighting the WildeHopps.JudyNick or whatever you want to call it.
They are the two leads in an action adventure storyline. 80% of the movie is the two together interacting with the world.

Ironically that the two didn't get together in the first movie is going to be one of the reasons the pairing is going to be so popular and demanded, as long as whatever follows keeps up at least hinting that something is going to happen between them.

I saw it in 3D because I was in a shitty mood after arguing my Mom, and 3D happened to be the next time for me to watch Zootopia.

Because people were presented with a realtionship that feels more realistic than the usual "we've known each other for two days and now lets fuck" deal. By the very end of the movie months have passed since they met. It also feels better to see two friends together, and it's an easier leap to see two friends eventually being a couple.

Ah. You're the dude from that old thread, right? I was about to ask this:

So people are questioning the Nick/Judy ship because of lack of movie evidence? Yeah there was no romance between them through most of the film, they hated each other like first 30% of the damn thing. I thought the shipping came from the fact that at the END of the movie (as in, the end where we leave their relationship at with no more building it until Zootopia 2 or whatever) they are dropping the "you know you love me" flirty shit and looking at each other with goo-goo eyes at the concert? you ship them because they obviously like each other..a lot...by this point, there's no questioning this nor is it speculation (though it's not stated to be love or anything like that, it's up to you). Up until the end of the bellweather arrest scene there was nothing that really said "Oh shit..they like each other" but after that scene there was.

The cute shit all took place after Nick's training and he was already a cop at this point, Judy was at that graduation. Does anyone doubt that they really like each other a lot by the end? yeah it's not stated that they're dating, but it's not exactly hard to imagine them doing so either, they aren't really giving us a reason not to believe they are.

Wait. Do we have any accurate translations of how it was said in other languages? I had no idea. I mean the movie creators (I assume?) would have to approve dialogue changes and say "yeah, that's acceptable for the scene" not just toss it out to translation companies and let them change it as they please with no checking before putting it out to final print?
I would assume? idk how all that showbiz works.

> something about them that makes people want them together

this stuff is absolutely transparent to normalfags, they don´t see the characters as potential romantic interests because they all had the same crazy ide at the same time, it´s not "something" it´s actually very intended subtext.

they see it this way because that´s exactly what is being presented to them,
>>
>>81040935
Just saying it's getting too repetitive, this is how iconic phrases die
>>
>>81042548
Well I suppose companies don't always check to make sure translations are exactly the same word for word.
Thats how in animation you get situations like characters being different genders and shit.

I don't know about all languages, but apparently in German, Nick says something along the lines of "You know you have the hots for me"

And the other point is that Love apparently doesn't translate platonically into multiple languages. Without any subtext, if you look at it, it just means "You know you are in love with me"
>>

Because the context is joking, as to a friend, that even though you are a pain in the ass to them, they are still your friend.

In other languages, there's no real translation for this context. in some places it is translated literally. In others they used a "softer" word for it. For example in Germany they apparently have Nick say "You know you have the hots for me," because in German the word for love is purely for a romantic tone, which they didn't want.

>>
>>81043176
Thats a question that will almost certainly remain unanswered
>>
>>81043099
I don't think you understand the concept of shipping.
People ship when the pairing is not yet formalized. Otherwise it would just be liking a pairing.

But make no mistake, even the Director coyly acknowledges that shipping Juddy and Nick "certainly feels like a thing, doesn't it?"
>>
>>81042630
>>81042613
The context isn't necessarily just a joke, though? the way Judy responded to it wasn't just "yeah, yeah whatever" jokingly, it all came off a little more flirty.

Put simply I've joked "i love yous" all the fucking time with friends and I never would have a dialogue the way Nick/Judy did, not the specific way they said it. Idk man, it just seemed a bit more flirty, mainly the way Judy replied to him and her pause between "Do I?" putting some emphasis on "Yes. Yes I do"

idk, all of it is pretty left open imo

>Delgato -> Tiger
>Fangmire -> Wolf

While I hesitate to draw conclusions, I'm pretty sure they're butt buddies.
>>
>>81043211
Well Judy's response was partly just her using Nick's earlier advice against him.
When asked a question, ask another question and then answer that question.
>>
>>81043211
you're really doing shit to support your ship here.

just stop
>>
>>81043209
Yeah but there's basically two types of shipping (I know there isn't but work with me here)
There's stuff like "Bellweather loves Nick!" and then there's "Judy loves Nick!" one you can totally believe, the other is just what the fuck shipping. I like to ship when there's logical grounds for it, not just "oh they're cute together" you know?
>>
>>81043243
Honestly I generally agree, but they could be an example of Zootopia genetics. Perhaps it really is just if two different animals get together, their children will be one of the other.

Or they could be step brothers
>>
>>81041003
go to bed sky.
>>
>>81043284
you can find ground that's logical to you for anything.

look at elsanna shippers, or zutara shippers, or whatever the fuck Toph and Sokka was called. or Toph and Aang, or those Harry Potter books.

If you look hard enough you'll eventually find something that looks like proof to you.
>>
>>81043252
But she didn't ask another question, she just answered the same question that she was just asked, she didn't change topic to another question to answer that one like Nick advised, I doubt that's what they were going for at all (though I won't rule it out completely, I rarely rule things out unless it makes 0 sense)
>>81043273
Seems like I'm doing pretty well since you had no counter argument, familia
>>
>>81043356
But sometimes whats there is whats there.

I think most people can see that they didn't end the movie as confirmed lovers, thats clear enough to see. But they definitely ended the movie with potential to move that way if they wanted to.

Clearly potential enough that Byron and Rich didn't consider the question stupid enough to not be mentioned in the interview, even if they chose not to commit to either side.

And they even said there was a "Guess Whose Coming to Dinner" esque scene that was cut
>>
>>81043369
no, it's just been explained to you about three times now and you don't listen, so there's no point in bothering with you anymore.
>>
>>81036767
>Buttons on the left side of the controller.
>>
>>81043439
>"Guess Whose Coming to Dinner" esque scene that was cut
which can easily be Nick meeting Judy's family in the old Sun City script.
>>
>>81043356
yeah, I hear ya. But you know what I mean, there's always a line between "plausible and the movie supports it" and then there's "well if you look at scene A4-B at 92 seconds in you can kinda see them looking at each other so they totally love each other" some things you have to push and stretch so hard to try and make a reasoning for it that it's just fucking goofy. That's what elsanna and all that type of shit is like. Like yeah it's possible, but being real, you know it's not no matter what tiny little details you manage to dig up, that's not how it genuinely works. I don't think many people at the end of Zootopia had much reason to think "what? Judy and Nick together? that's literally impossible" It doesn't mean everyone thought they had a thing going, but it didn't give them a whole lot of room to say why not
>>
>>81043273
When you have that much chemistry with someone, why not at least try, they are both single. the movie hints at it, the director hints at it, they basically have a confession at the end, she even turns to completely look him in the eyes while she says the last part to add more emphasis.

It makes a lot more sense for them to end up together because of the theme of the movie as well, breaking through pre-conceived notions and social norms like a rabbit police officer (fox/rabbit together omg?!)
>>
>>81043496
but that "pre-conceived notion and social norm" has already been dealt with. the directors said that there are cross-species relationships.

you're going into "but maybe in the future" which doesn't apply to an argument based on what is shown in the movie. There's no point in looking for a "they fell in love here" moment in the movie, because the movie wasn't made for such a thing. In the movie they are simply friends. That is the long and short of it, that is what the directors have said about it.

In the end, all of the shipping of Nick and Judy is just wishful thinking for the future, because right now it isn't happening.
>>
>>81043455
Yeah all you want to push is that the cop car scene at the end was a friendly jokey thing when, hey, sure, I won't take that from you and outright call you "wrong" but quite honestly it can be taken as a flirty line as well just from the way it was handled. If they wanted to blatantly make it a "look at how friendly we are" there were many other ways to handle those lines. And yes it wasn't just some flat out "I love you" because that would be legit romance and that's not what they were going for. The whole point is to leave it open and I just felt the whole scene was a big fat flirt line.
>>
>>81043485
Why can't people just enjoy things you don't?

Why is there always this big argument over this dumb shit
>>
>>81043560
There is no point in looking for one, because the literal confession is right out in the open, you don't say that kind of thing to a friend, especially looking them right in the eyes.
>>
>>81042447
Yeah.

He just goes to town on her.

>>
>>81043628

>>
>>81043560

>>
>>81042447
I laughed harder than I should've form this post, holy shit.
>>
>>81043560
So I have a question for you. Prove to me right now with in-movie evidence that at the end of the movie (the concert) Nick and Judy were still just friends and they weren't either dating or on the literal verge of becoming something intimate? maybe even that exact night?

>prove to me that they ARE dating
The answer there is I can't prove that they are.but you can't prove they aren't either
>>
>>81043628
There's always a chance they could end up just friends, but it would be strange, so much tension if you have strong feelings like that for each other and you're both single. Like, what are you gonna do... wait for someone better? seriously lol? get real.
>>
>>81043653
Exactly.
>>
It's a wonderful movie, but having seen it twice in 2D, I'm really not sure what 3D would do for it.

It's an animated movie, so it was probably "shot" in virtual stereoscopic 3D rather than post-processed to be 3D, so that's a good sign. Post-processed 3D is always shit, but moves that are shot in stereoscopic 3D can actually look pretty great.

If you can spare the cash, it can't hurt, but there aren't many scenes where I feel like the 3D would add a whole lot outside the opening.
>>
>>81043653
Like hell he is. He can't be fucking her because only ____I can fuck that perfect creature. I'd post her pic but I can't, image limit
>>
>>81043099
why the fuck are you letting a bunch of guys who're upset because people like something they don't like get you down.

like are you that suggestible.

if i waggled my fingers and go "gimmie your money" you'll just go "sigh, gotta sign over my bank account i guess, lemme post a simpsons reaction image and i'll be right on it."
>>
>>81043653
Except Nick and the Newcaster never actually meet

Nick and Judy have met and are already great friends. Theres more to go on with them than with Nick and the Newscaster

So basically thats a dumb fucking argument
>>
>>81043684

Technical question:

When they are done with everything they want to do to the movie, do they render it in one big batch or splice together different pre-rendered scenes?

How long does this process take?
>>
>>81043695
Sorry buddy, it's happening.

>>81043702
The argument is you don't need "proof" for shipping. It's all fiction, anything can happen. The point went totally over your head and/or you're arguing at the wrong anon.
>>
>>81043669
Not that guy but word of God says they're not a couple. That's good enough for me to put the kibosh on a relationship in the movie.
>>
>>81043771
Where did they say that? Pretty sure all they said was they aren't saying anything about it
>>
>>81043697
Because when you hear both sides it's hard to decide what should be true or not. Up till now I just saw mad shipping fanatics and tons of JudyxNick pics, even that korean fuck that draws like a shit ton of em, but now I do see the arguments of why they can just be friends and it does make sense on SOME points, it sorta brings me down. Ultimately though the ending of the movie was where everything ended up with their relationship, nothing can advance further from the ending until new canon material is provided, and if they aren't fucking like rabbits by the end of the concert then they're very close. I still feel there's a lot there and it's just random shipping shit with no grounds
>>
>>81043788
https://twitter.com/byronphoward/status/656595333791682560
>>
>>81043803
Well I guess that at least puts an end to it as far as anything between them in the first movie goes.
>>
The best part about this whole argument is that I ship Nick and Judy, but I'm the guy reminding everyone that they're not a couple in the movie.
>>
>>81043771
But is interspecies dating a thing in Zootopia?
>>
>>81043803
That was asked fucking 7 months ago. Of course they're not in a relationship, you can see that as far as the movie goes.
The doors it opened up for a sequel is why everyone is putting them together.
>>
>>81043871
And this whole thing started with a guy wanting to know where in the movie there was evidence that they were a couple.

and the answer was, there isn't, because they aren't.
>>
>>81043854
Well yeah, as far as the first movie goes, they definitely are no together.

I'm pretty sure as far as most people are concerned, its the sequel thats relevant here.

God are we just arguing around each other?

I mean I know there are some people who are saying the romance started in the first movie, but I think most of us who ship them are just thinking ahead to the sequel. The first movie just lays thr groundwork for that

Man, internet arguments are just like the special olympics. No matter who wins, we are retarded
>>
>>81043893
They have the strongest relationship in the film, the closest thing would be Judy's parents.
Neither of them have shown any deep relationship to any other character as well.
So by that logic, Nick's strongest relationship to any one person would be Judy, and Judy to Nick.

That alone is evidence that they have potential to be together, no?
>>
>>81043900
I have no idea what you're arguing, I've just been repeating the same thing for the last half an hour.
>>
>>81043939
>That alone is evidence that they have potential to be together, no?

>>

>>81043960

>>
>>81043939
>>81043900
>>81043893
>>81043854
When two people have that much chemistry with each other and they are both single, why the hell wouldnt you at least try? it makes way more sense for a relationship to form rather than nothing, what are you gonna do wait for someone better? They do like each other, but as friends/brothers-in-arms.

Judy will meet a nice bunny who's totally neurotic and stays up all night worrying about her when she's on the beat.

Nick will meet a sexy fox who can keep up with his smug banter.

And then they'll totally cheat with each other.
>>
>>81043997
You know I think we mostly agree here. They have potential to get together later.

But right now they aren't.
So lets leave it at that
>>
>>81044206
That would certainly make for an interesting sequel.
>>
>>81044059
"It's not romantic" in no way rules out future possibilities. Every relationship starts somewhere.
>>
>>81044258
Fair enough, I hope they do obviously, it would go along with the film of breaking norms and social standards. #interspecies

This guy >>81044206
could also be correct as well, minus the cheating part lol, it would be a shame but it's plausible I guess... I think it would be weird to be that close to someone of the opposite gender and not be together if you're single, now if they were already with partners from the beginning the whole "just friends" would make total sense.

Disney may not want to go as far to promote interspecies because people might take it too seriously and the whole rabbit/fox dichotomy was set up so they could become friends. but like I said some of the movie is trying to send a message in the errors of ignorance and intolerance.
>>
>>81044396
It certainly seems like a developing relationship that of course isnt romantic right now, but it's definitely heading that way.
>>
>>81044379
Oh no, I know, I've never had a problem with the whole "shipping is for the next movie" or whatever canon stuff happens next, but I was almost 100% sure that by the end of this movie (the concert) there was already some romantic interest, I was so so sure, it's very saddening knowing there was none at all, but oh well..I'll get over it, though now I'm very disheartened about it.
>>
>>81043000
> trips defeats trips
