...or yet another cartoon where the concept art makes the characters look cuter than what they ended up as. How many dreams must be crushed like this?

She's some sort of alien. I guess that's different.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUVhGex2LwU

>Teresa Green is, upon first inspection, a perfectly polite, neatly‐dressed, well‐behaved pre‐teen girl. She doesn’t interrupt her elders, she’s a straight‐A student – she’s every teacher’s dream. That’s because she’s actually the alien creature called Loom Prxbtlyp, dedicated to taking over the earth and enslaving all its inhabitants.

>She chose her disguise of cute 12‐year‐old Teresa based on characters on a movie billboard across the street from the Greens’ house. She got the name for her putative brother, Goliath, off a dog’s ID tag.

>Immaculate, polite, unemotional, Teresa treats earth and all of its citizens like an ant farm beneath her magnifying glass. She has trouble grasping the subtleties of human nature. She is a logical being and humans act illogically.

>Teresa/Loom’s job is to send back nightly reports describing us to the orbiting Kemii to speed up the impending invasion. But her analytical approach always misses some subtlety of human behavior. Like when she says humans own dogs to give us exercise in bending over to pick up poop.

This is interesting, even if it does sound a lot like IZ.
You're right in that the concept art is a lot better... The 3D doesn't look very good for a new show, at all.

Where is this airing?

Sadly, this girl is pretty by-the-books and doesn't have any interesting quirks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLPQW5k2DTM

>Violet Violet is a smart, strong‐willed, trend‐bucking 11‐ year old girl with a BIG fashion sense and a blog describing how she’d like to improve the world – its music, aesthetics, and especially its rigid, closed‐minded people… like the teachers who won’t let her wear a swan hat to class.

>She wears violet clothing, dyes her hair violet, and is looking for a violet pet. To her, the color represents the repudiation of conformity.

>Her being strong‐willed is a problem, because Max is strong‐willed too. These two, competitors in school and now in saving the planet, seldom see eye‐to-eye.

>Each one wants to run their alien‐busting outfit and each chafes at anything sounding like “orders” coming from the other.

The video for the alien girl's henchman has more of the alien girl in it. I don't know why, but I find her dry, robotic delivery kind of hot.

I'm honestly surprised they made a video for the parents.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXB588z1hw0

>Laura Green loves all her children, whether natural or online mail‐order.

>She also loves gardening. Laura has come in Second or Third, five of the last ten years with her gourds and melons. This year, with the sudden and unexpected spurt in her garden’s growth, she’s certain she’ll have a prize‐winning pumpkin. Little does she know her primo gourd‐growth is the reason her back yard was chosen by the alien Loom as the landing site for the Kemii Advance Team… or that what she thinks is her prize‐winning pumpkin is actuallyAlien HQ.

>Laura is a happy homemaker with a college degree in Botany – but beyond her garden and her family she has a large ambition: to compete some day on the popular weekly TV game show Who Knows What with her large (and growing) expertise in a) Koalas and b) Australian Rules Football. Her family quizzes her on these two subjects to help keep her sharp and competitive.

The writing has charm and the concept is solid, but I feel like this is a case where the animation is just so weak that it actually hurts the delivery of a lot of the gags they're going for and hurts the presentation too much for any real interest

Some guy on YouTube is uploading random stuff about the show. I think he got the videos from somewhere else, but all I know is that the lip-sync is even worse in it than it is in the show.

There will be an episode where the alien girl makes people fall in love, and the dad falls in love with a bee. Didn't expect him to chase after the bee, calling it a "six-legged temptress".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os-PVWCfyjc

There are a bunch of other videos on that YouTube channel but I don't feel like watching them all.

Well, this show had my attention for just over an hour. Now, I'm immensely bored. Maybe I'll care again at some point in the future when the episodes are out in English. I can only find them in French and Arabic.
>>
I know nothing of this show but the pics in this thread, but from just the screenshots, the only thing I dislike about it is that I kinda like the 2D drawings better than cgi.
>>
Even the concept art is pretty meh, desu. Those poses and expressions are really limited and generic.

>>
>>81025645
Kinda have to accept it sometimes. CGI budgets will only go so far, and flat illustrations are pretty easy to make look gorgeous.

This. There's a reason the first despicable me had a budget of about 68 million dollars and was considered "low budget"

There's pretty much a triangle of priorities involved in making 3D look good and you can only pick two - you can have it cheap and fast, but it's going to look like five minutes in unity. You can opt for fast and good, but for that to happen you need WDAS' bastard-rigged-super-render-farm or you can say "cheap and good" but the sacrifice there would be that it takes for ever to render.

Unfortunately, TV networks rarely have the budget or time to choose the two "good" options so cost/time ends up taking precedence.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but yeah, those concepts look cute.
>>
>>81026963
I would say that it also involves a lack of talent in the CG department. The best people are still in high demand in better paying jobs, so tv shows can score good (or great) concept artists but have less to work with in the CG department. While that still boils down to money I think there is also a lot to catch up in terms of education.
>>
>>81027717
This, its not impossible to overcome the jump from 2D to 3D, but you can tell that the models just aren't very good.
The faces lack any sort of definition to them. Neither of them have any sort of brow making the faces just look like blobs without any sort of underlying bone or muscle and the way they interpreted the nose just looks bad
Not to mention just a poor job painting the makeup/blush on the characters so it looks super cheap
Also just poor posing with very symmetrical and boring faces compared to the concepts
>>
>>81018138
>>81018148
Has there ever been a cartoon mom, that we see fully, that isn't a milf?
Only one I can think of is Clarence, and I still would.
>>
>>81028196
I can think of a number, but they're not the main character's mother. Anyway, here's another image for this shitty show.

It feels like a hybrid between Invader ZIM and Kid vs. Kat. And Kid vs. Kat already channeled Zim.

>>81028089
so why make it ugly 3d instead of flash? it wouldn't look good but it wouldn't age as badly.

also apparently this show is animated in malaysia.
>>
This is from a Malaysian company - the CGI is likely better animation than what we're gonna get.
>>
>>81028297
this one hurts in particular because the main character is really cute and this could have been a ridiculous counterpart to Invader Zim, where the main character was actually competent instead of a psychotic midget (not that that was a bad thing)
>>
>>81028460
In a bigger picture look at it, its good to try and use the medium at a lower budget so that you can develop techniques that work within said limitations.
For this specific case, i dunno lol executives being dumb?
>>
>>81028465
Then why is it set in america
>>
>>81025645
I don't think it was ever going to be not CGI - the pilot from 2010 is already in 3D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lyQeMNYs0E
>>
>>81028716
And I thought it couldn't look any worse.
>>
>>81028672
Why is that even a question?
We outsource animation all the time
>>
>>81028672
cause america is the number one target demography you pander too if you want your show to be a succes outside of your country. While I doubt CN america will pick this up, CN of some other country will, just look at angelo rules.
