No.

At best, it peaks at 60%-65%
>>

Well, it'll need a big push for that. For reference consider that Ant-man started around 60% before rising to 80%

>>
>>81016803
Every bad review I've read so far was negative towards it because it was too serious. Richard Roeper loved it though, he's the only movie reviewer I know by name, so I'll take his word for it rather than some nancy no name who's butthurt because it isn't avengers
>>
>>81017173
This is what people call ostrich tactics.

It's a pretty butthurt way of handling matters.

I'll probably end up enjoying it. I thought Man of Steel's shit parts were the dialogue and bad scenes (like pa kent tornado). But still enoyed stuff like Smallville, Zod fight, his first flight and some other scenes. Not an extraordinary movie, but still worth a watch.

Most of the top critics negative reviews are that it's packed, has no jokes and has too much cgi fighting. I like Snyder's action scenes and I want to see the other DC heroes so I don't think it will bother me much. I don't care about no jokes as well.

It's weird because the biggest thing I heard coming out of the movie was "it's better than man of steel", it just turns out critics are being bigger cunts now that their opinions weren't taken to heart with Man of Steel, and now they're doubling down on it because DC continued with their darker tone.
>>
>>81017395
Maybe they just don't want to risk wasting 20 bucks going to the cinema for a movie with bad reviews?

They may still want to watch it later when it's out on Netflix or whatever.
>>
I've accepted that it won't blow me away like I expected a few months ago, but I am still positive. I unironically like Green Lantern, and I think MoS was decent enough in the end, so the RT score doesn't scare me too much.
>>
>>81016803
watching it for based ben desu. but i may have to watch it alone now because my other friends are firmly in the FUN camp
>>
I feel bad for my DC bros. I wanted fun BvS vs Civil War banter, knowing BvS will be inferior, but at least somewhat competitive. How can DC bros even fight back now?

>>
>>81017642
Oh sure but when a Marvel movie get low scores they're 100% accurate
>>
>>81017582
Yes, that's right. But executives are probably already thinking of the diminishing returns the "DC Expanded Universe" franchise will suffer.

You can bet "Cyborg" is already in the can, for starters. "Shazam" could be next if the suits think he is too much like Supes and "people don't like Superman, that's why our Batman film was bad received"
>>
>>81017642
Exactly! Snyder is the best director the cape genre has ever seen. They won't be laughing when BvS hits $3 billion in gross. Fucking subhumans. I don't blame them. They probably don't have the intellect to appreciate a Snyder film. Fortunately the masses do.

I'm honestly surprised that he got the director gig for Man of Steel, and I say that as someone who liked the film.

His films don't get strong critical receptions and for the material they're adaptation see mediocre to weak returns. After the reception Man of Steel got, I have to wonder if he's either related to someone high at WB, gives great blowjobs or if he just signed a really favourable contract.

> Guillermo del Toro, with whom Goyer worked on Blade II, turned down the director's position on the reboot because of his commitment on a film adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness,[64] while Robert Zemeckis was also approached.[65] Ben Affleck, Darren Aronofsky, Duncan Jones, Jonathan Liebesman, Matt Reeves, and Tony Scott were considered as potential directors,[66] before Zack Snyder was hired in October 2010.[67]

Ok I've made it past denial, anger, bargaining, and depression. I've reached the acceptance that DC will always have low reviews.
If they make good money and are able to keep putting out big budget movies, I'll be satisfied.

I really don't believe the reviews at all

The last two times I snuck into marvel movies(i refuse to give them my money), dudes were literally chanting "fuck DC" at the beginning, and at the end of the movies. What the absolute fuck
And this was in NYC, so I wouldn't put it past being the work of diehard marveldrones, that and the fact that most reviewers are owned by disney and are literal corporate shills

I was really indifferent to the movie at first, but after this bullshit I'm actually hype and going to see it with a bunch of friends friday

This "Snyder does great visuals" thing is a load of shit honestly. His movies have a distinctive hyper-produced look but he rarely shoots anything beautiful or interesting. Actually Man of Steel was visually pretty bland.

The only superhero movie I could enjoy via the visuals alone would probably be Hellboy 2.

What amuses me the most are some people whining about some grand Disney conspiracy to pay off all the critics to trash this movie. That's a theory that's actually coming out of people's mouths.

No, the critics aren't all being Marvel fanboys, nor are they bought by Disney or any other nonsense like that. Problem is, most of the time, critics can tell a sloppy movie when they see one, and in my experience, I've found them to be right far more often than not.
>>

>>81019415
>>81019466
I didn't mean it like that
I mean't that these guys were already owned by disney from the start
Everyone knows it. Thats why every disney movie is praised, even the forgettable ones

Literally everyone knows this, its an undisputed fact, the only thing disputed about it, is that we don't know if the fact that disney owning their companies is making them give warner brothers things bad reviews

although marvel is most definitely telling their creative teams to bash DC on social media(its actually kind of embarrasing)

No, they simply are critics who watch a ton of films and wonder if something works or not. Look at redlettermedia for example, some have labeled them DC haters, even though they found Nolan's Batman films very strong. They have liked most Marvel films because they have found them strong, but they won't backdown from making jokes about how boring Thor's character is or why Star Trek Into Darkness doesn't work.

There's no conspiracy. Go to the Michael Bay forums and you'll see this exact mentality of "critics dislike this because they are biased!"

92% means that 92% of people liked the film which is reasonable, i guess.
The score on RT is 8.2/10.
>>
>>81019855
No you dumbass, it means if you take a sample group of 100 people, 92 of them are gonna like it. That's what the tomatometer means. You're thinking of the average rating which is 8.2
>>
>>81019117
It's not just Jumanji, there's a good number of perfectly fine films that didn't get a good reception or films that are extremely overrated and get a better average than all time classics.

I'm not expecting this to blow my socks off, but people give RT way too much credit. Being a critic nowadays means shit. Film critics, comic critics, tv critics, videogame critics, you can count in your hand the ones that are worth something. Most of these people are no better than the average viewer and offer no great insight about the thing they are supposed to know. And yet people chose to listen to dipshits and skip on a number of things they would really like otherwise. Review aggregators only made conformity worse. People are too afraid to form their own opinion.

Because the site makes it so. The approval rate is flashy as fuck. The actual rating isn't even bolded. Not that it matters when it's just a number assigned to reviews when some don't use any sort of score system. But it's built on peer pressure, the percentage of critics is what they want you to look at, not a score.

Not that guy, but I agree with him.

It played extremely well on audience expectations on what a villain is. It also worked into the core message of the film.

For all its quippy bullshit and frankly hit-or-miss, IM3 has more to say about its characters and about real life issues than all the faux-baroque bullshit Snyder will ever be able to cram into his puerile films.

I wasn't a fan of IM3 simply because the comedy made me cringe on occasion, but the Mandarin twist was intelligent, and it had more thematic cohesion than anything Snyder's ever put out.

IMDB's score is garbage now, as it always is prior to the release of an anticipated film, but a few days in, after a few thousand people have rated it, I'll find it far more trustworthy than RT. Far larger sample size, and, as with 4chan, anonymity produces a level of honesty that can't be matched; critics don't want lose face by diverging too much from the pack. In a few days RT will still be garbage.

I have no idea why anyone holds pro critics up to some higher standard, as if they've acquired some variety of magical insight, by working through the movie watching equivalent of a PhD program. /co/ has more faith in them than conservatives have in trained scientists.

I think after movies like the Nolan Batman trilogy and Watchmen, people started expecting a higher quality of standard from DC movies, which is why Man of Steel was such a disappointment. It's almost funny seeing BvS criticized for not being "fun" enough, because it's almost like what The Dark Knight Returns did to the comics industry back when it came out. I love how almost everyone in this thread haven't even seen the movie yet. I saw it monday night at the fan screening. It's nowhere near Fant4stic levels of bad, it's actually much better than MoS. The response it's getting is baffling to me, it isn't amazing but it's not a hot mess either like critics are making it out to be.

The problem with "critic reviews" is not whether they're right or not, but rather how much they can influence opinion of other people.

For example, back when I didn't have an Internet connection, I had no idea that the Star Wars prequels or the Matrix sequels were supposed to be "bad". Or I didn't know that I was a pleb because Rocky is my favorite movie of all time.

I'm way more of a marvel fan than a dcfag and I'm glad that all those obnoxious assholes who kept trolling /co/ for the last couple of months are getting silenced now. But seriously, stop listening to critic shit and wait until you see it. Don't be affected by "critical consensus" when you go see your movie
>>
>>81016803
I am. Every person i know who went out to see it gushed about how awesome it was. The only people ive seen complaining are critics. Im not a critic so i get a feeling ill like it
>>
>>81016803
Honestly, most of the critics' main problem seem to be that it's overstuffed and too serious. That's pretty much what I expected and I've been over it since Man of Steel came out. I'm still excited.
>>
Not gonna lie bros, my hype has died down. I like Zack Snyder, his visuals cannot be beat, and with Terrio helping the script I had hope that normie critics could shut up with their bullshit and stop spreading their cancer opinions to the normie audience that listens to them. It seems that Marvel has ruined any chance of capeshit films being good, seeing as how critics are saying BvS isn't even a superhero film because its joyless. I was hyped for this Batman, but I'm reading things I wish weren't true, and Snyder apparently didn't do some things I thought would be no brainers. Is there honestly still hope that this movie will be good?

The issue here seems to be that everyone's a critic, more so; people actually listening to the critics. I stopped listening to the critics a long time ago, i try as good I can not get any influence before watching a movie I am anticipating.

This movie is not perfect by any means however the last time I had this much fun watching a cbm was Avengers and Winter Soldier. The fights are insane, just like in the comics. Sure, some of the characters needed more depth and usage, and Affleck really suprised me - he's my second favorite Batman now and I hate his guts, basically.

It seems that every cbm has to have 2 ingredients nowadays to be considered "kewl": it has to be in the tone of Marvel and it has to include a decent amount of forced humour, which is inane if you ask me. I want to be entertained by a cbm, and thats what this film did for me so...

btw, Zack Snyder should've probably not directed this movie in hindsight but he did an amazing job on the fighting and serene scenes.

The classic meme is to judge for yourself, or just dont give a fuck. Its the biggest superheroes of all time so your loss.

Sure, IMDB is joke. Now tell me why RT isnt also a joke
>>
>>81021918
There were also probably less than 10 reviews for it before release.
>>
>>81033187
Because RT doesn't get it's reviews from just regular people who can make a hundred accounts and give full reviews weeks before the movie is even released and the reviewers are limited by an embargo

Like you realize there are fundamental differences in how both the sites work right?
>>
>>81032803

why was this ever a thing? People never said shit about Bale's garbage performance yet they'll shit on affleck before even giving him a chance, and he is the most entertaining thing about the damn movie. Yeah he was in some bad movies, but it was never his fault that they were bad. Never understand how this was ever a thing.
>>
>>81033163
Sure m8, and TDK got really opened up this shit with critical reception and cash.
Critics telling me it sucks rim cabbage but my friends are telling me it's insane. Im not saying anyone are more right or wrong than the other but how do one actually judge a movie except personal?

Blame Marvel, they changed the mindset of people
>>

They gave F4 and BvS bad scores. Seems accurate to me.

As a Marvelfag, I didn't want this to fail. I wanted it to have High 60s Low 70s score on RT so Marvel could at least had some adversity and I could make fun of DCfags about how DC movies rating overall is lower than Marvel. Now, DC seems to be completely taken off the list, DC fans are basically dead and I can't even shitpost without feeling sad.

>>
>>81033187
Anyone can influence the IMDB score, without really any explanation which can lead to manipulation. If you want to see why someone gives a bad rating to a movie on RT you can just read the review that's evaluated for the total score, besides the people who rate movies are critics, you can expect a more informed opinion from dozens of critics than from whatever anonymous person rates something on IMDB.

Then what does that say about the quality of those movies? That somehow these "fun" movies managed to gain absolute dominance that is utterly unable to be negated by a supposed "masterpiece" of serious "philosophical" drama.

Nothing. Because its BS. The movie fails at what it sets out to do because its shoddily edited and poorly written. Get the fuck over it and y our retarded conspiracy.

Sure, but its still some movienerds opinion, just like mine. His perception of what makes a movie fun and kewl isnt the same as mine, or probably yours.

Because the audience has nothing to gain while critics want to feed you your opinion so they can get paper/magazine sales/hits.
There's also the whole view of critics being elitist, or having a chip on their shoulder. Plus with audiences there's a wider, more varied pool to draw reception from.

Because IMDB has a far larger sample size, and its rating comings from normal people, more representative of the average viewer, than from critics who will just duplicate the ratings of other critics in order to avoid losing face; IMDB scores are given anonymously.

Yeah. There are duplicate accounts, but that's from both sides, so that they cancel each other out. IMDB scores are inflated prior to the release of anything highly anticipated, but deflate to something believable with time.

>What a waste of time that was, sticking around for that.

The thing is, that's a Marvel thing.
Me and the girl i went to see it with decided to stick through the credits to see if they showed something. Meanwhile we talked about the movie and i let her in on what the significance of that giant Omega shape in the ground in the Knightmare we saw from the trailers was.

In the end, she didn't like the movie for the same reasons she wasn't excited for the movie to being with, those things being: a) She thinks Superman is a dumb concept and b) She hates Ben Affleck.
Seriously, i caught her snickering each time Superman showed up on-screen.

I myself actually really liked the movie, it felt different to the marvel movies of the past. Different mind you, not better nor worse, but different.
I liked that these characters were presented as more human, more fallible.
The pacing was erratic but the build-up to the last act made it worth it.
The visuals and audio were spectacular, and Wonder Woman was GOAT.

All in all, it's not all i wished it would be, but a major upgrade from what we got in MoS (and i actually saw that movie on opening day and liked it, so your mileage may wary).

I hope the publics response will be different than the critics, cause having looked at the negative reviews after (and slightly before) watching the movie for myself i don't see why it's being scored the way it is.
