probably because they modified the eyes to face forward. snakes go by heatsense and smell so they dont do the forward-eyes thing. makes the hypnosis angle not work so well.
sucks because if they were willing to just look at animal behavior, which is what everyone wants in the first place, they could actually give us amusing entertaining believable animals. like that bird in Up. he was great. if he wanted to look right at you he turned his head to the side and awkwardly stuck his profileface in your direction.

This is what worries me the most. More than tossing the wolves aside and making Kaa a movie, the most problematic change of Disney JB was turning Mowgli into such a damsel in distress with little to no growing.

In reality, they dumped 150 million into a movie that for all purposes but legal ones is a Disney property that at this point is more about Tinkerbell then Pan.
