This is a hard one.

Lady Wifi had a great design and interesting powerset, she also came close to get the miraculous.
Mime had a nice story (better than Chloe was mean to me and now I want revenge at least) and I liked the idea behind his powers, as cheap as they might be.

Copycat was basically an excuse to have Chat on Chat action but that's fine by me

I found the perfect costume.

I disliked that Marinette had so many better ways to confront or deal with Lila. She could have just said hi to Adrien as Ladybug and introduced herself to Lila, than it would have been obvious to Adrien that Lila was lying. She also could have just entered the library lika a normal person and just pretend to look for a book instead of the weird hiding.

I would have found it much more interested if Lila would have been into Chat Noir instead Adrien. She'd still dislike Ladybug and would like to pretend to be a hero.

This. The episode could have gone in a number of more interesting ways but instead it fell back on played out scenarios. I'm honestly waiting for the right fanfiction to come around that rewrites Volpina into a better character. Really the only good the episode did for the plot was to show where Marinette's weakness lies and confirm that Lila would be a returning character (and possibly a villain).

Maybe she became a miraculous and left her family because it was too dangerous, faked her death, and was last seen in Tibet. Hawkmoth thinks she's dead and wants the miraculous to bring her to life. Eventually, in a final battle he will get them but they won't work because she's already alive. Clifhanger to new season.
Then
A. A new threat emerged, perhaps keeping the mom hostage.
B. Mom IS the new villian or corrupted
In either of those scenarios, Hawkmoth will join up with his son and LB. Or give up his own miraculous to someone else.

I hope this show ends with LB or Chat getting all of the miraculous to use for a final battle fight against the big bad or save the world from some apocalyptic event. There's alot of places and potential to go with this.

-Lila ends up befriending Marinette, giving an interesting contrast where she likes her civvie form but not her alter ego. We could also learn more about her this way - for example, she could actually be tremendously insecure while still being prone to outbursts of anger and being vindictive. -Have someone find out LB or CN's identity and act as secret keeper. Preferrably Alya.

-Just be more plot-focused in general. And stick to chronological order.

My family name is Volpi and apparently all it takes is one character with even a remotely similar name to interest me. Hope this shit is good.

At the beginning of the origins episode the audience is greeted with a mass amount of knowledge. Nuroo is narrating to Hawkmoth the abridged history of the stones. Hawkmoth learns about the powers to rival god's by combining the ladybug/chatnoir stones, and aspires to use said power-- looking down at the locket of Gabriel's wife/Adrien's mom. Nuroo reminds him that using the stones for evil is some bad shit, dont do it, etc.

From this the audience can gather

>Hawkmoth is just now acquiring the moth brooch/pin
>His motivation lies in Gabriel's wife/Adrien's mom.

Then later on in the Volpina episode we learn that

Putting this together, I'll add it to a personal guess of their personalities. I'm betting Gabriel was the original owner of the Peacock stone and used it (similar to Marinette/Adrien) without knowing of the origins; he knew the effects and powers. His showyness was part of his success to being the BIG BOSSU of a fashion industry.

His wife on the other hand had Nuruu; and inspired people. SHe was a muse of sorts and would change people for the better, and give them skills of confidence, agility, and talents they knew not that they possesses. Unlike Cockmoth, she used the abilities for good.

Eventually, she either died or ran away. Maybe defeated in battle, or someshit. Who knows.
She leaves behind the miraculous to her husband, quitting all the bullshit pressure, and ashamed, Gabriel puts both his and her miraculous away. Too butthurt to put his on, one day he puts hers on- hoping to find the runaway ho and ends up having a brief summary of the powers.

Somewhere in him, it clicks that maybe he could use the stones to find her (and then later he learns about the godlike power to bring her back.)

Butterflies are symbolic in psychology (thanks, Jung), serving as "positive" and "normal" thoughts and emotions. When Hawkmoth "corrupts" a butterfly into an akuma, he's trapping those sorts of emotions, and blocking out more positive ones and accenting the negative emotions. This becomes obvious when an unpurified akuma can be expunged, but then called back when negative emotions return.

It's likely that the Butterfly miraculous requires a strong thought or emotion to get its kickstart. The more powerful villains have been those that were more creative (Lady WiFi, Evillustrator) or those more emotionally charged (Marionetteiste, Stormy Weather). Everyone else lies somewhere else on the spectrum, usually towards one or the other. In the case of Volpina, she's probably one of the closest we've seen to date of an akuma that was both Creative and Emotional, which is probably why she's a more dangerous foe in the long run.

This is also likely impacted by the "neutral" state of the person's emotions, not just "they're mad". For instance, Chloe is more or less always irritated and bitchy, so despite having a fairly strong emotion behind her transformation into Antibug, the fact that it wasn't that far from her usual state impacted the overall power of her akumatization. This combined with her known lack of imagination meant she wasn't honestly that good a choice as a villain.

So what does this mean for a 'good' wielder of the Butterfly miraculous? Probably something along the lines of "Paladins. Paladins everywhere."

Adrien has a way to reach the conclusion of who Hawkmoth is without the book. Marinette has absolutely no connection on a personal level to what's going on with Hawkmoth or anyone else. The book was a necessity to get her personally involved in the overarching plot.

Adrien will jump in the moment a chance appears. Marinette has to be convinced. The only reason this particular episode is frustrating is because Chat's been handled poorly for most of the season. Nobody would be complaining if this was only the first or second time that Adrien "wasn't allowed to be important".

There's a lot of reasons why Marinette got the book instead of Adrien, in fact from a story telling perspective it's probably smarter to give her the book.

Though I think that Adrien's general lack of importance may be due to his personality. Adrien's not very assertive and generally inattentive and gullible. In top of that because of Hawkmoth's true identity he can't have an actual rival like Ladybug and Volpina, and he's too worried about stepping on someone's toes to do so. On top of that he's still in "the outside world is amazing" mode, so there's a big limit in what they could do with him, especially since he doesn't need as much build up as a character.

There are many ways for them to go about her character. As it stands it seems as though they'll make her work for Hawkmoth which kind of makes her beyond redemption, but still useful for other character's development.

She's a problem for Ladybug since she knows Ladybug's only weakness. For Marinette she forces her to face her major flaw about herself. She's a problem for Adrien, since he's the only one whose really aware that she's a liar and in order to mitigate what ever damages she could cause he has to speak up even if it means that her feelings will be hurt, which will give him the courage he needs to face his father. It makes Chole look salvageable, hell it could even give Alya and Nino something to do.

In other words there's a lot we can do with the character.

Felix's two opposing personalities were too cliche imo, and seemed to be too much of a dramatic difference for it to actually be realistic without seeming ridiculous. I think Adrien's character blends better with how he acts when he is Chat Noir, but that might just be because we have seen more and understand Adrien's character more.
