No I'm being fully serious. I've been contemplating something similar lately, that the story of Star Wars in general but the Prequels especially works on several different levels. TPM embodies this because on the surface it's a straight adventure film concerning a Queen's struggle, but if you pay a bit more attention you realize there's more going on. This is where a lot of people get hung up I think, they see the underlying stuff but they can't penetrate it easily and it confuses them, so they switch to rejecting it instead. But if you pay even MORE attention (it is frankly a stupidly dense movie) you realize that the story itself actually makes total sense (and doesn't require any EU explanation) and is very well thought-out, if translated sloppily.

It's unfortunate, Lucas appears to have attempted to make movies that appeal to everyone but are only truly understood by the hardcore fans, and yet most of them just didn't get it.

Okay good. There is another scan floating around but I'm not sure exactly how it will compare to yours when done(it might be slightly lower quality). I've uploaded it to a MEGA in cbr format, but if you're going to do yours in .pdf then it offers an option for people in the thread and elsewhere.

Also, the same dude scanned the TFA Incredible Cross-Sections so that doesn't need to be done.

Thank you for the hard work getting it all scanned! I'll add your scan to the MEGA when you finish and upload it.

Was Rey's force vision all flashbacks? Her last vision of facing Kylo Ren(masked) in the snowy forest looked like it foreshadowed their fight on STARKILLER base. For all we know, solo just said Kylo took down Luke's order by himself. The Knights of Ren could do another slaughter in the next movie.

The romance stuff is bad, but it's funny. I think that kinda works. That weirdo slave-monk probably would be emotionally stunted. And Padme doesn't get Jedi shit and inevitably feeds Anakin's problems. Frankly it's telegraphed to be a doomed romance.

And Obi's half of the movie is great. It kinda falls apart after the Arena though. It drags way too long and the climax with Dooku is pretty lame.

There are supposed to be some young female characters in VIII who were supposed to have a large part. It was rumored, or maybe just assumed, that they were new Jedi under Luke. Their part has been scaled back after the rewrites post-TFA.

I like the idea that Luke has some newly trained Jedi or maybe even some small number of survivors. Not really sure what the Cosmic Force napping even means. Based on Rey's page in the TFA visual dictionary it was very hard for even trained Force users to sense the will of the Cosmic Force, they were largely cut off from it. Presumably untrained couldn't hear a damn thing so maybe, MAYBE, they are less likely to have their powers activate on a subconscious level (like Ezra, as just one example). No clue. Supposedly the Awakening was due to the antics on Jakku and Rey's powers beginning to activate.

Frankly it's just a huge unknown right now. The Force never took a siesta when Sheev murdered the Jedi, for some reason it did when Luke dun fucked up and got his students brutal murdered.

>>
>>80935456

Filoni absolutely would. His hat feeds on the souls of fan-favorite characters, and it's already been nearly a year since the Celebration Anaheim premiere killed Tua.
>>
>>80935271
Dunno.

When Qui-Gon arrived on Tatooine, he felt a disturbance in the Force, and Anakin as a vergence.
After Luke joined the Rebellion, before he did anything noticeable (welle except blow up the Death Star), Palpatine felt a disturbance in the Force.

So, when Rey left Jakku, maybe that's what provoked an "Awakening". Aparently when a new powerful Force user comes into town you can feel it.
>>
>>80935545
>When Qui-Gon arrived on Tatooine, he felt a disturbance in the Force, and Anakin as a vergence.
It's more than that this time. The Cosmic Force actually shut itself down to almost nothing. Somehow, for some reason, but coinciding with the destruction of Luke's Jedi Order. When Rey met Finn on Jakku the Cosmic Force became active again.
>>
>>80935532

I still have no idea how people got that from "So...the apprentice lives"

I was THERE. I was AT Celebration Anaheim. I wasn't even seated in the front half of the auditorium or anything, I was somewhere in the back. I know the crowd got loud and stupid as shit in the lead-up to that moment, but even at the time I was still able to clearly hear Vader's actual line.
>>
>>80935860
It was just people trolling with the purest bait of "Vader would NEVER say this stupid line, let me pretend that he did!."
>>
>>80935899
>>80935860
Some of it might have been trolling, but from what a few people in this thread said it was fucking noisy as hell in the auditorium and people were literally shitting their pants with glee when Ahsoka and Vader had their connection.

I'm not actually serious about the literally part, but maybe it happened in a few isolated incidents?

Couple that with the Force having the Skywalker blade call out to her. It wanted her to take it. She freaked and ran.

I know people were upset when Rey turned out to Force pull the blade away from Kylo Ren as he was pulling it, but the Force WANTED her to have the blade. It was screaming in her head to take it. There was no way it was going to choose Kylo Ren over her.

Yeah it's weird. Their powers weren't affected because that's Living Force. However does this mean their visions are affected?

Seems like the Living Force is the "now" Qui-Gon was warning Obi-Wan to be mindful of, the Cosmic is said to be outside normal time so it, presumably, allows visions of the past and future. So maybe those were dampened, but obvious the ability to sense present danger, like Kylo sensing Poe's attack, is perfectly fine.

It's interesting, anyway.

There've been some notions that Finn may be Force Sensitive too and recently awakened. The problem is he's got a lot of fear in him, mostly around the First Order. He thinks they absolutely unbeatable through most of the movie and just wants to run. He also has a massive guilt complex about being a Stormtrooper even though in his backstory he never actually shot anyone in his life, only training targets in simulators. Jakku was his first mission and he freaked, but he still carries the weight of what he was part of.

I imagine even if he's not another Force Sensitive a huge part of his arc will be learning to let go of his past and make his own future.

Still think Luke and Leia should've been grand Jedi masters. Luke is a combo of Kenobi and Yoda and Leia the Windu/Anakin combo.

Speaking of that, do you guys want to see Luke pull out a lightsaber or would you prefer him to use the Force? I would love to see a recreation of the bar scene from ANH but instead of Luke pulling out a lightsaber, he puts his hand up and mindtricks the room to go about their business.

It's more like after Rey is captured he's in the process of stepping up, but he's not quite there yet.

Other people recognizing Finn's goodness doesn't matter so much as him finally recognizing it himself. Sometimes it's the right person needed to do it. Han and Leia didn't phase him too much, but the way Rey looked at him did. Poe being his bro did, too.

I just got an idea for a cool movie:
>thousands of years after civilization was destroyed and rebuilt
>people saw all the Star Wars media around the world and now accept the Star Wars lore as a religion
>there are people that really believe in the Jedi, Sith, etc and think the galaxy of Star Wars is a real place that used to interact with our planet
>their belief is confirmed by seeing ancient sets of 501st armor and props from the movies
>some believe in the EU canon, others believe in nucanon, similar to Catholics and Protestants
>their whole belief is based on building a device to communicate with the galaxy and have Earth become part of the Republic in Star Wars
>there are wars between EU and Nucanon religions though because they believe in different versions of the force and each have a different idea of what message to send the galaxy
>>

To be fair they inherently work better in cartoons because animation doesn't have the limits that filming a carefully choreographed fight scene between barely-trained actors. They can be faster and more dynamic.

I'm not moving the goalposts, jackass, the point of my initial post was that animation doesn't have restriction. The actor bit was an aside that you're focusing on.

And no, the actors are not as skilled as Gillard and Park are. It's apparent in the movie. There are some great moments but again you can see when Neeson is being slow. But it's expected, they're actors.

You are moving goalposts, faggot. You said the actors were barely trained. I just linked several videos where your point was disproved, since the actors trained for months and were even outclassing the stunt coordinators themselves.

Just because Neeson is moving slow doesn't mean he's not as skilled at the stunt they're doing, it's clearly part of the duel.

I'm not arguing this any further because it's clear your head is so thick it'd be hard for even a lightsaber to cut through it on the first try.

Oh, the fucking irony. Turbonerds like you give prequel fans a bad name. The proof is in the pudding, those fights look goofy as shit sometimes no matter how many behind the scenes videos you post. The point is that animation can take that choreography and do it better, free of the physical constraints of working with actors.

>Muh light side is good side
I am not trying to play devil's advocate here, but it does make some sense from a certain point of view. Light side is emotionless and about peace, dark side is emotional and about passion. When you die you essentially cease to exist, becoming one with the force. So the force is literally no emotion, only peace. And bringing emotion into it corrupts it, creating an unnatural dark side.

what's the balance of the Force in the first place? Is there a definitive answer?

>>80954665

Revan in TOR. He decides to exterminate the sith species along with all halfbreeds, quarterbreeds, tenthbreeds and so on,,and when you fight him on lvl 30 he uses both ds and ls and keeps screaming about muh force in balance and how he knows better because he has been both jedi and sith. When he dies, he doesm't die, instead splitting into two parts - ls part becomes a spirit, and ds part decides to sacrifice a whole planet for a power voost to kill the sith emperor and that's when you fight him again.
>>
>>80954752
Lucas's view is that existence of sith is an imbalance in itself. So, I guess balance is when there are no ds users at all.
>>

Imagine the Force as a pond. When the water is still there is balance. Jedi can move in harmony with the water causing no ripples. If you get emotional or passionate, trying to force the water to do something you basically punch your fist into the surface of the pond. The ripples and waves are basically the imbalance, or the disturbances in the Force people talk about.

In it's natural state the Force is a perfectly still pond.

Except for it not being balanced. When the Jedi don't have any dark side threats to face to show them examples of the dangers of the dark side, a faction within the order eventually ends up thinking "How bad could it be? Old people are just scared of nothing, it's just knowledge after all," and then you get kids splitting off, watching sketchy holocrons, then they put on masks and start trying to take over the galaxy.

I think he's already said too much.

But didn't Lucas even say something along the lines of the less dark side users there are, the more in balance the Force is?

The thing is, the Jedi constantly fostered this environment where it's not hard to go to the dark side. Surprise surprise, someone raised to sacrifice for the greater good might want to get something out of it, and it leads to this rubber band effect.

The Dark Side will always exist. It's as part of the Force as everything else. There's no "destroying" it. It will always have a draw and influence, but that's what the Jedi are taught to be mindful and aware of. So long as one can resist that pull, the Dark Side can contribute to no further harm and will just be "there" until someone else gets too curious for their own good.

>>80955902
The less people there are twisting and abusing the dormant nature of the Dark Side (which can be equated to background noise in the Force), the more in balance the Force is. Groups like the Nightsisters don't really enter into this equation because they're not using the Dark Side for personal gain or to cause general discord. That's all the Sith.

All this TOR talk makes me wonder, since I never played it: did Bioware ever manage to figure out how to give the option of moral choices that fell between "Total Saint" and "Spawn of Satan"?

This was a big problem in all their games before EA bought them, even Mass Effect. It got particularly hilarious in Jade Empire, when the whole point of the 'evil' path was that it absolutely wasn't evil, it was just supposed to be a hard, cruel philosophy that prized independence and self-reliance. And the vast majority of your choices STILL involved raping nuns and killing babies.

It got better as it went on. Some of the Dark Side options for the Sith classes, for example, are pure edgelord stuff, with no real benefit. Whereas the lightside options are more pragmatic, and probably help the Empire more. Apparently being a light side Sith is more interesting, but never done it myself just because I love the <Choke Them> conversation option.

Maybe we'll get a bit of that on Malachor.

I like the idea the Star Wars universe is in technological stasis. It's fantasy set in space after all. That's why I think it would have been better if Starkiller was an ancient installation the First Order found and repaired rather than built (kinda like the Star Forge).

I know it's because of when the OT was filmed, but the Star Wars universe seems like it went BACKWARDS in technology over time.

The PT defintiely had more advanced tech than the OT.
And the OT had less advanced tech than the ST.

That is an idea only brought up in Legends(specifically by KotOR and KotOR 2/SWTOR) and is not canon. There is clear progression in technology between what little we've seen of the Old Republic Era to the Clone War era to the GCW Era to the ST.

It seems like they're going with technology levels being all over the place now. Well there's certain tech in the galaxy that HAS been around forever. Stuff like hyperdrives and repulsorlifts. You have a bit of that feeling from Lost Stars.

The protagonist comes from a backward planet who joined the Empire some years after the end of the Clone Wars. It starts to look good for job opportunities and whatnot until the protagonist join the Imperial Academy.

Every time they returns to their home, the planet is worse off. The Empire just take the ressources, there's more and more polution, the local culture start to die out, the pretty city made in stones is replaced by cheap and ugly workers appartment, same with the clothing. All the while the Empire only build military outposts and screw with the justice system.

It gets better with the Republic, though.

>>80957444
Yeah, Lost Stars was great at giving you the point of view of the day to day, non-evil empire 'employees' and how the Rebellion/War effected them.

I really want a book about a regular guy that works for the Empire and it shows his day to day activities and maybe how the Empire threatens his family if he doesn't do the cruel tasks he's asked to perfom.

That's not to say things like love, anger, and emotion are evil - even Obi-Wan says so in TCW - but the Dark Side can turn all of those things into obsessive, compulsive tendencies to the point where they have the power to rule your life and sense of self.

If anyone can beat Yoda, it's Ahsoka. The latest Rebels season should give her a huge bump, and Yoda did worse against Finn than I would have expected.

Battlefront DLC is about to drop tomorrow for Season Pass owners, and while I have literally zero fucking interest in it, I may as well share with you what stuff you will get if you choose to purchase.

>New Weapons:
DLT-19x (Sniper) - This will be free for all players
DL-18 (Kanan's blaster) - Free for all players
Relby V-10 (Nien's Rifle)
DT-12 blaster (Greedo's Pistol)

>Star Cards:
Scatter Gun
Dioxis Grenade
Adrenaline Stim

>New Playable Characters:
Greedo
Nien Numb

>Playlist Updates: (Free for all players)
Supposedly, matchmaking is being completely reworked into 3 multi-game mode playlists
Heroes Vs. Villains is now 4v4 (DLC owners only? Is EA going to fuck people over again with this?)
Hero Hunt is now actually playable
Extraction game mode added, but only playable on the two new maps.

>New Maps:
Palace Garage:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKsEOHbwPfI

Pipelines:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjC8TcnDe8k

Sorosuub Refinery: (This one is most interesting for me, supposedly based more accurately on the Sullust location in the Twilight Company book)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu0JXhaEKbc

Jabba's Palace:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shkjibXqU9s

>Other Things: (Free for all Players)
Level Cap for all players is 60
New "Hutt Contracts" added, whatever that is.
Weequay skin available for Level 60 Rebels. Because, y'know, they're known for being Rebels. Guess Dice is running out of OT aliens, huh...

All in all, boring as fuck, overpriced shit that should have been in the game at launch. Literally nobody bought the Season Pass for more Tatooine maps, or goddamn motherfucking Greedo. Just figured I would post here for any players, or in case anybody is actually interested in what the DLC looks like.

I blame EA for the scummy overpriced business practices, but Dice is still to blame for the lazy gameplay and content decisions. They've even admitted it, stuff like one era, no space, ect.

And on twitter, one guy was getting really mad and defending their decision to have Nien and Greedo. Apparently, it would have been a "waste" to not reuse the Rodian/Sullustan models they already made.

Also, I recall from the Outer Rim reveal stream one of the devs when asked why there was no story mode he answered with:
We wanted to go with a more arcadey game, a fun multiplayer focused game, so to have a story mode would just be absurd.

Not a 100% exact quote, but he did specifically say that a story mode would be absurd for their "fun" mp focused game.

To be fair, it at least looks like the devs want to make a good game but were pushed to shit out Battlefront in a single year so they could release it with TFA. EA is notorious for having devs that really want to make good games but cannot do it in the time allotted to them by the suits. I think here in a few years when we get Battlefront 2 and it has a DLC that adds all the shit from the first game it will be a legitimately good Battlefront game.

So I saw where Battlefront has split screen offline only. Does this mean only in those shitty 'story missions' or can you play the game modes from online when doing offline multiplayer? Also do you use the same character profiles you use in online mode? Can you grind experience with your local friend for your online character for example?
>>
>>80959124
Basically John Boyega sent a tweet to EA saying how he would like a campaign/story mode
>>
>>80959476
You can not play online game modes, or any of the online-only maps, in single player/splitscreen co-op.

The splitscreen co-op is only a small selection of maps and game modes.

>>80959209
Yeah. The story was honestly questionable, but the variety of content in the PSP alone surpasses Battlefront from Dice.

The dark side is natural, see Mortis. Dark Side users, like the Nightsisters, are inherently self-destructive according to Lucas, but they don't unbalance the Force just like the Jedi don't. It's the Sith who unbalance the Force and no one else.

It doesn't matter what the devs intentions are. The simple fact that the end product is lacking and that it is routine to expect as such is unacceptable. They do not deserve continued support from consumers, or else it will continue to happen again and again.

>>
>>80960045
No one is denying the Dark Side is natural. It's when the Dark Side is allowed to gain too much power or when people like The Sith use it to overpower the Living Force that imbalance happens.

Notice how when The Son has too much power after The Daughter dies Mortis becomes all dead, blackened, etc.

>>80960261
I think whenever we start getting into...whatever it is that that is...all of us stop thinking. It's not a place for logic and reason, it's a world reduced to, ha, yeah, memes and buzzwords.

There's real efforts and organizations that fight the good fight for equality and acceptance and have done since before there was a world wide web. What was posted? That's pure internet fighting. That's not discourse or debate, it's posting pure shit back and forth until one gives up and stops posting so the other can declare victory or, easy mode, just block the other person THEN declare victory.

What does this have to do with Star Wars? Because we've reached a point where just having Finn and Rey start these kinds of Shit Wars on the internet. Was it inclusive casting? Sure. But Finn can be a black hero and Rey can be a female Jedi without it having to mean fuck all as long as they are decent characters (whether they are or not is open to debate). But then the usual suspects come out and only want to crow about the skin color and reproductive organs which causes their opponents on the OTHER side to crawl out of their dung heaps and then the internet shit slinging commences.

The weird part is first we had to deal with over a year of Finn "ooga booga" memes here, then after the movie came out they liked him, then it was on to the Rey memeing instead. You could barely talk about the actual movie without the threads descending into shite.

The Mary Sue part IS the meme. She doesn't really fit it. She had extra heroics layered on her story beyond what the other mains had because she had the Jedi reveal. If Finn had been the Chosen One he'd have had it and then we'd be seeing a different reality but one just as memeish. Probably something like, "Puny white boy Kylo Ren btfo by Finn's Big Blue Lightsaber"
>>
I find myself thinking that Daisy Ridley is either pretty cute or that I cannot stop looking at her teeth.
>>
>>80961235
>The Mary Sue part IS the meme.

Nah, it's true.
>>
>>80961235
She kinda is one, though.
>>
>>80961237
Her teeth are cute too tho
>>
>>80961133
A lot of people feel like a little more lol unique goes a long way in Star Wars sometimes. I mean almost everything is apparently two genders already, most of it sexually compatible with humans, and now Twileks can even breed with humans. No reason to lump the Hutts in there too when the last explanation was perfectly fine.

And I disagree on the licking and clothing thing. Both of those could be the power factor at play since they cause the victim to be supremely uncomfortable. Beings are sentient after all.

But there's no hard evidence in the movies either way like so much of Star Wars.
>>
>>80961235
She never makes any mistakes except one time, and it still ends up saving the day. She accomplishes everything she undertakes on her own too. What doesn't fit exactly?
>>
>>80961296
Eh kinda but not fully. She does have negative aspects about her like her still thinking anyone is gonna come back for her on Jakku after like 17 years of waiting. And not being able to do shit to Ren first time she meets him. But she does get over that kinda stuff really quickly.
>>
>>80961307
It doesn't help a lot of the arguments against the sue claims are "w-well it'll get explained in 8!"
Because it doesn't matter in the scope of what we've actually received she's incredibly dull and with zero development or strength of character I guess.
>>
>>80961235
She fits, but this is baby shit for babies (a fairy tale would be a politically correct term) so I let it slide. Besides, she's cute and there are possibilities she would reform the evil prince, which I'd like to happen very much.
>>
>>80961354
Her wanting to go back to Jakku doesn't really impact anything, though. And her moment of weakness against Ren is the only time she doesn't have the upperhand against him.

>>80961399
Basically. All that matters is what we know and see in the context of the movie itself.
>>
>>80961307
That makes her questionably overtly competent. Mary Sue has become a meaningless buzzword and by the strict definition of the term she cannot be one. She isn't a fan fiction character and she doesn't warp the story to be about her. It's still squarely about finding Luke and preventing the attack on the Resistance, both of which she plays a minimal part in. Her story is about overcoming her past and later confronting Kylo.
>>
>>80961307
Running out in the woods alone was a pretty big mistake, though.
>>
>>80961307
She was saved twice, both times by Finn. First was when Finn grabbed her, despite her shouting at him not to, and dragging her out of the tent before TIEs destroyed it. People overlook the second one because Rey got herself out of her cell on Starkiller Base but even though she was running around she had no way to get off the planet. Even if she could manage to steal a TIE or shuttle, and if she could even fly it, Kylo Ren specifically ordered all the hangers sealed and posted extra guards. The boys still needed to arrive with the Falcon to save them.

Hell, let's add in a third. Without Chewie showing up with the Falcon at the end as the planet was ripping itself apart she'd be dead. Even if she COULD run to the Falcon in time, she didn't know where it was parked, Finn did, and even if she did know where it was parked she couldn't carry Finn so he would have died. Chewie had to carry Finn onto the ship.
>>
>>80961404
That scene... such generic action film shit. I felt like I was watching Hancock, a movie no one even remembers and TFA has no business disturbing the memory of.
>>
>>80961427
She's literally the center of the movie, everyone absolutely adores her too.
>>
>>80961466
That's true. Makes me feel a little better about her, though I still find her pretty dull.
>>
>>80961301
There's a huge difference between unique and lolunique.

Hutts being hermaphrodites is lolunique because it's something only introduced to make hutts "different" and it wasn't in the movies.

If Hutts had the ability to change gender like frogs, that would be something unique. Not the best example but it's something.

Hutts being hermaphroditic adds absolutely nothing to them especially since we don't really have any other examples of hermaphroditic aliens in the Star Wars universe, it's just there to make them different from every single other alien. If there were more examples of hermaphroditic aliens and then Hutts were said to be it would be less "lolunique". The fact is we see a clearly male Hutt and clearly female Hutt in the films.
>>
>>80961427
Canon Sue is a thing, though it's usually for bad author inserts in 'serious' works.
And honestly she's teetering on it if not in that territory already. Definitely so if she's a Skywalker to be perfectly honest.
>>
>>80961419
Ren easily beat her the first time, the second time she was running the entire fight until her back was to a cliff. If she hadn't listened to Maz about using her inner calm to hear the Force inside her she'd never have leveled up in time to defeat Ren.
>>
>>80961419
>>80961399
It's pretty obvious that because she is the new main character they wanted us to like her instantly and were afraid to make her a damsel in distress. She isn't as OP as people make her out to be but she definitely could have been handle a bit better
>>
>>80961466
Add another one for Finn: if he didn't job against Kylo when she was unconscious in the wood, Kylo could have just pick her up to bring her to Snoke.

>>
>>80961494
She pulls a large portion of the emotional weight but she isn't the center of the movie. Finn delivers the droid, she's along for the ride. If she wasn't on Starkiller they wouldn't have been gone back to rescue her and she played no part in its destruction.
>>
>>80961539
>If she hadn't listened to Maz about using her inner calm to hear the Force inside her she'd never have leveled up in time to defeat Ren.

Maz's brief instructions to Rey on the Force was the former being an Obi-Wan to Luke. Believe in yourself, trust in the Force, and you can win.

Droids can be programmed, so yes they have hard genders technically. They can have feminine programming or masculine programming.

>>80961494
She's on equal footing as Finn. He contributes even more to the movie than her actually. And not everyone adores her: Unkarr Plutt didn't hesitates to send his thugs against her when he wanted that droid, Han's first reaction was to drop her, Finn and BB-8 on the first rock, before having to flee with them on the Falcon where they poved they were not deadweight, and while he offered her a job, duh, the Falcon had a lot of modifications and she was the one who knew what they were.

Han probably has been doing this for years everywhere they go and Chewie's reaction to Finn was more, "Oh shit, not again. Han you cannot keep adopting young adults to replace Ben!" Sounds more elegant in wookiee growls

One of the comics hints that he might be force sensitive, or guided by the force in some way. He grew up around a Force Tree previously rooted at the Jedi Temple.

Finn is the only protagonist of the ST with zero connection to the Force.

>now its a quantifiable force, measurable
The Force is not quantifiable, just the potential of Force sensitives. Midi-chlorians are in every living thing, but after a certain number of them per cell a person is deemed sensitive to The Force.

>and found in distinct bloodlines
The force has always passed through bloodlines too, Luke says as much in the OT, "The Force is strong in my family..."

This doesn't mean people can't be born force sensitive with non-force sensitive parents, we see some in TCW.
>>
>>80962017
I need to reread the comic. I know Poe was already born but I can't recall how old he is. Couldn't be that old, though, given his age thirty years later.

I seriously do not think living next to a Force tree is enough to make you Force active, like soaking up extra Force rads or, why not, midi-chlorians. If it's passed down through bloodlines, with new force-sensitives being able to pass it down, then this just creates a force-sensitive aristocracy. Fucking Issac Asmiov foundation trilogy did this shit- if a distinct evolutionary trait allows for domination over the other, it will dominate.

Hence why Jedi and Sith, despite numbering in the few thousands, have ruled the galaxy for thousands of years, killing upstarts like the Mandalores for not keeping in line.

Star Wars is pretty fucked if you think about it
>>
>>80962264
>killing upstarts like the Mandalores for not keeping in line.
Could you expand on this?
>>
>>80962026
You know what. She's not a Mary Sue, but her skills essentially make all of the other characters irrelevant. She could easily go through the entire movie without Finn, or even Han Solo. She probably could have piloted herself to the Resistance base if it weren't for Han solo's tractor beam. If she's going to be a better character, all situations can't be convenient for only her and unfortunate for everyone else. I think more people would have been able to warm up to her if she had a certain niche of skills, but also had to rely on her friends to get her through this relatively new experience of the Galaxy.

I'd rather see the movie about Finn than Rey since he seems to have some strengths, but the audience is able to fear for his safety when we see that he's in a situation that he's not comfortable with. In Rey's situation, there's no feeling of discomfort for her character. She seems to adapt to every situation, almost as if she's a literal plot device. Emotional trauma is fine, but it has no effect on the story.
>>
Two things I wish they'd changed in the movie.

BB-8 should have been the one to save Finn by using a droid interface socket to close the door on the tentacles. This takes one save from Rey and gives it to BB who otherwise did mostly jack shit beyond serving as a mobile plot device conveyer. Even Artoo got to shut down the garbage crusher on the Death Star, this could have been BB's moment to shine the pottery.

We should have seen Rey in her flight simulator. It doesn't even have to add much time to the movie. Just cold open with a space battle, classic X-Wings versus classic TIEs, maybe throw people a WTF moment if the death star looms into view, then it turns out it's just Rey in her simulator wearing that old helmet pretending she's on space adventures instead of fucking around on Jakku. Then she goes to eat. Bam, done.

As for Leia hugging her, yeah maybe change that but frankly I'm sure they felt each other's pain through the Force since it was centered on Han for both of them, and Leia snubbing Chewie, again, is perfect pottery with ANH and not giving him a medal (I don't care if the extra stuff says she finally did, I'm just going by what is in the actual movie for poetry purposes)

Dude, I just showed you clear fucking evidence in both the films and in Star Wars: The Clone Wars where Male Hutts do not have breasts and Female Hutts do. It does not get any more clearer than that.

>Show me where their genitalia is visible in the movies
You do realize this is a franchise for families right? Why are you expecting genitals in a fucking family film?

>Otherwise, the Legends explanation is simply more interesting to me

That's perfectly fine, but stop applying it to canon. You can keep living in Legends with that interpretation of Hutts, but don't apply it where it doesn't work.

> and perfectly compatible with what's seen in the movies.

No its not. Both the movies and TCW(both made by Lucas) show Hutts with clearly defined genders. Male Hutts have male voices, male personalities, and flat chests(that can get rolls from being fat or abs from working out). Female Hutts have female voices and breasts. They have female personalities.

Fucking hell, there was Ziro the Hutt in TCW. He was male but had a very stereotypical feminine gay personality, he didn't have breasts. He was still male.

> They'll always be herms to me and in the games I run.

Why are you bringing tabletop games in here? You literally create your own canon for them basically, they're nto even canonical at all.

>>80962264
>If it's passed down through bloodlines, with new force-sensitives being able to pass it down, then this just creates a force-sensitive aristocracy.

Force sensitives can still birth non-force sensitives, it's like magic in Harry Potter. Muggles can birth wizards and witches without any previous wizards in their family and Wizards can birth squibs without marrying muggles.

>Hence why Jedi and Sith, despite numbering in the few thousands, have ruled the galaxy for thousands of years, killing upstarts like the Mandalores for not keeping in line.

There are other Force sensitive factions like the Dagoyan Masters of Bardotta and the Nightsisters though.

And the Jedi don't rule the galaxy, that's not how they operate. They protect it from evils like The Sith(and actually the Jedi only can operate within the Republic, rarely do they extend beyond that).

The Sith are the ones trying to rule the Galaxy, even then they only truly succeeded twice. Once after they caused the downfall of the Old Republic, once when Sheev created the Galactic Empire. Both didn't last long. First one died from The Sith infighting, second because Vader changed sides.

>>
>>80962312
She arguably could have but then you still have to alter the movie to accommodate for that, and when it gets right down to it Poe had all the necessary skills as well. Just rewrite the movie so he's not captured. He gets the Skywalker intel, flies it to the resistance, Starkiller Base still destroys Hosnian Prime but this time since everyone saw the shot in real time anyway they follow the trajectory back to the base, they can analyze a weak spot on their own, Poe shoots the fuck out of it. The move is now considerably shorter.

You could say things about how would they know about the weak spot without Finn or even the location of Starkiller, and what about the extra explosives needed to soften the weak spot for Poe, but those were things added to make other characters useful. You'd still need to come up with ways for Rey to know how to destroy Starkiller Base and manage to escape again all on her own.
>>
>>80962461
Showing her dark side when she's fighting for her life, would probably be a better character motivation for her. learning to let go of attachments throughout the film, similar to how she had to eventually let go of her family, seems to be a major character development that was barely touched on. I would be more accepting of her myriad of skills if she was shown to be aggressive to everyone, and very urgent, as if she was surviving like she is shown in the beginning. Then, as the film progresses, she learns that the Galaxy is new, and she would learn to let go, and find new motivations, as that is adventuring, to have new experiences.

Without Finn she wouldn't have any reason to leave Jakku (he is the one who told her about the map to Luke, the Resistance, and why the FO were against them) and without Han they wouldn't have gone to Takodana and find the lightsaber, being captured and so on. She would have go directly to the Resistance, drop bb8 and go back to waisting her life on Jakku.

Also no one would have come to save her on Starkiller. It's people coming back for her that free her from her abandonment issues and let her follow her destiny.

But it's fair to say she maybe is too overpowered.
>>
>>80962542
Yeah, I liked that too, but I would rather he show he's not a monster to Solo only, to let him know the path he's taken. I really don't know why he would open up to Rey unless it's to set up poetry. But, we'll have to wait for the next films to see if it actually is GL-tier poetry.

True. I guess, I'm saying Rey got too much screentime, and we needed better character development for Finn, and maybe Han Solo.

Yeah, I really liked Finn's coward to hero transformation. Too bad he was basically useless. A storm trooper that would defeat that the storm troopers can't shoot meme. It's unfortunate, really.

The scene would be better if he was the monster all the way through the interrogation and only took off the helmet on the bridge.

Imagine if in Empire Strikes Back, the Emperor's hologram referred to "your son" while talking to Vader instead of "the son of Skywalker". Wouldn't it damage the impact of "No, I am your father"?
>>
>>80962636
That would have been nice, though you'd have to have Han manage to divert them to Maz's since Poe would insist on getting back to Leia immediately. You could split the difference, I suppose. Poe leaves them right before Maz's castle, meaning he's only absent from those scenes, which allows him to still have his kickass flying ace save in his X-Wing backup.

>But, we'll have to wait for the next films to see if it actually is GL-tier poetry.
yeah, that's why I warmed up a little to TFA. The set-ups are there for some glorious pay-offs.

Mugga if ya follow the conversation you should see the multiple instances where I said canon don't matter to me even if you're right. I never said you were wrong either, just that I prefer the old explanation and see nothing in the movies that truly conflicts with my interpretation. No triggering here.

So I'd say I'm handling this just fine, thanks.

New thread fucking when?

I went from hating TFA to viewing it as having potential. I was battered down.

The problem is you still think the films and TCW don't conflict with it when they do. Refer back to these posts and the images

>>80962363

Both TCW and the films were directly made by Lucas so they're automatically equal footing even if you disregard the new books and comics released after Legends was made.

Both show a clear divide in gender, and then males who are more feminine just display stereotypical personality traits but still look like males and display some male personality traits and a slightly male voice.

Hiro needs to give /co/ sound webms and larger filesize limits.

Longer text limit for posts would be great too, sometimes it's hard to fit everything into 2000 words

>Finn is the only protagonist of the ST with zero connection to the Force.
I suppose people could stretch Maz telling Finn to use the lightsaber as her suggesting he has the mojo too. As opposed to suggesting, "Just stab people with it, there are zero ways you can fuck this up unless you meet someone who really really hates you and happens to have a riot baton that can resist lightsabers but what are the odds of both those things happening?"

Other than that the Force can show up in anyone at any time. It literally does not have to explain a thing.

You know I wouldn't mind the ability to post pdfs like /tg/. Good for posting lots of comics.

Not that everyone enjoys their comics in pdf form.

>>80962871
And I disagree with your assertion, since nothing is made explicit everything still work perfectly fine for me.

Anything else you want to rail at me about or can we just agree to disagree?

>>80962987
more file types would be great too. pdf, zip(also cbr and cbz since they're basically the same), etc.

Hiro needs to elect regional governors and grant them direct control of their boards.
>>
>>80962992
So you're saying Males having no breasts, male voices, personalities, but Females having breasts, female voices, female personalities isn't explicit? Even when males are more feminine, they still look and sound like males? What would make it explicit to you while still being family friendly?

I think Finn is more interesting if he doesn't have the Force. Too much Jedi running around make the Force a bit dull. You shouldn't need the Force to be a hero.

Not what I'm saying at all actually, but I can tell you still need to vent so here's another (you).
>>
>>80963112
If you're attempting to troll, you're doing a terrible job at it.

And if it's not what you're saying, then why do you keep saying the films/tcw don't explicitly show male and female separating, when they do?

I started out serious but since you didn't bother to actually read the rest of my posts I'm hardly gonna waste more retreading the same shit. I mean I'm not having an argument, I'm just expressing my opinion, so I'm homefree.

I'll keep handing out (you)s as log as you need em though, champ.

And what of the summerfags?

If the newfags have obtained a complete technical readout of this imageboard, it is possible, however unlikely, that they might find a weakness.

And exploit it.
