I wonder if we'll even see Ludo's lackeys again since it seems his crew is pretty much disbanded. Hell I wonder if they even survived the blast at the end of Storm the Castle. They may not have been the most important characters but to have them all killed off would be pretty grim. It would be interesting to have Star run into them again. It seems like they never had any personal beef with her, they were just following Ludo's orders.
As for general monsters, I'm quite certain we'll get more in season 2. I bet the writers will want to explore the battle/massacre that was mentioned in Mewnipendence Day and all that jazz.

Manna (not really) animation moment that some might have missed:

I don't know, this specific chapter doesn't sit right with me: it's kinda hard to imagine Glossaryck recounting the backstory like that, and that ruins the immersion, in my opinion. Plus, it's odd that a very specific episode of a distant past gets described in such fine details and emotional moments, while the more grandiose and world shattering (literally) events that followed are all glossed (heh) over!
If I may suggest a change, maybe instead of personally tell that tale, Glossaryck could provide a vision or something to Hope, making her witness the facts with her own eyes; I don't know, kind of like a magical documentary of sorts, or a divination into the past.
…Bonus points if the magical device he uses for the explanation is incidentally similar to a VHS player!

Well, it's clear that they're looking for something to fill the giant hole left by "Gravity Falls", possibly another continuity-heavy animated series with well-written characters/lore. SVTFOE was very weak on this in Season 1, so it's possible that they renewed it again because they *do* have something planned for Season 2 and 3 after all.

If that's not the case, it's possible that the next "Gravity Falls" will be the DuckTales reboot coming in 2017, which admittedly looks pretty awesome.

I'd just like to point that there's an element of the narration that's a little jarring to me, though: it's when the story switches from the normal second-person narration to third-person. In the prologue, you used that device to show Star's backstory, and in this latest chapter for Janna — but in both cases it kinda "undoes" the effect of putting the reader in the MC's shoes, in my opinion. Maybe there's a way of conveying those scenes while still keeping up the protagonist's point of view.
In any case, excellent story, Aegis: I'm looking forward to more!

I believe the final episode was animated by Toon "Fuck-Your-Character-Design" City. But I could be wrong. I remember them doing a terrible job on some "Kim Possible" episodes too (but the show ditched them in Season 2): the animation was really smooth the characters themselves looked like shit.

Post-Mercury battle scenes usually look stiff to me. The colorful "magical effects" for Star's spells also toned down, due to the lazier animation I guess. Even Marco's karate slowly (almost) disappeared. Compare his action scenes in "Matchmaker" to, well, pretty much the rest of the season.

Season 2 probably fixed this, since they had a lot of time to find a more consistent studio (Rough Draft is officially animating the second half of the second season).

I finally managed to give a look at your interactive story, and it's very promising!
Only a suggestion: to improve the immersion, try to take advantage of the medium, and for example, even when there's no real choices, instead of simply using "Next" to browse the chapters, try to employ the description of action or dialogue.
For example, like when Joanne says "This wall...needs a mural"; or later, a nice link to the next segment could be: "Load the needle gun with ink". It's kind of a way to help the player feel like they're kind of in control, even when they're not, really.
Also, just for the sake of playtesting, a "back" commend would be very helpful, IMHO!

Well that's an amazing sign if that is the case, Wander's visuals are fantastic and would fit with Nerfcy's seeming style of vivid background art. Although as interesting as Wander's visuals are, at time the animation is a bit wonky and repetitive which could be an issue for the action packed scenes in the show.

Rough Draft has seemingly had an odd assortment of shows, they worked on the Futurama movies and Star Wars: Clone Wars. Not sure what to take from those series in terms of what we can expect for Star vs.

I'm glad you enjoyed the series — and I also share some of your opinions: "Freeze Day" is one of my favorite episodes, as it advances Marco's character arc very nicely while also being gorgeously animated. And "Royal Pain" was indeed very meh and forgettable: totally skippable, in fact, as Star's rapport with her father is better illustrated in "Diaz Family Vacation", and in a shorter time span!
I hate Toffee the most, though: he's a villain I love to hate!

I really liked both seasons of Wander as well, there were just a few instances where animation techniques would stand out a bit in comparison to the backgrounds. It made sense to me given how much work likely went into said backgrounds, so it didn't detract from the show much. I really appreciated much of the physical comedy in the show thanks to the animation, which could be a huge plus for Star vs. given how physical much of the comedy and action is.

Oh well that's a good sign then, I felt there were a number of scenes in that episode where characters were rather plastered in the background which wasn't great. However, it has some of the best visuals in the first season in the big scenes, such as the waltz so I think that's a fair trade off.

Honestly, if they can keep the models a bit more tight I'll be more than happy with the results. Looking at those examples you posted earlier was really disconcerting.

I think, given the relative inexperience of the team, they laid on the negative aspects of King Butterfly's personality too heavily in a bid to highlight him as the issue of the episode. I was willing to let that slide, but you've certainly reminded me of how annoying it was at the time; given that he seemed more serious in his first appearance. I much prefer him as a serious figure with a more barbaric side to his personality when the stuffiness of ruling gets to him, as opposed to a rambunctious troublemaker when not in the presence of Queen Butterfly. Still, I can at least appreciate that it does a good job showing how Star takes after him, it honestly makes me really excited for an episode where Star and Queen Butterfly interact and we see how they connect, same for Marco and his parents too I suppose as neither of them seem particularly safety focused.

Star's baby dress is basically a fancy thing a princess would wear. She's even wearing a tiny crown.
And when she turns into an old woman, the dress looks way more human and still has the cactus headband.

I really liked the ending to the episode, in that they found a way to keep the whole system working, but allowing him breaks to do his own thing and recharge. You're right that theres that tragic sub-text to the whole situation the guy finds himself in, when you look at it from an outsider perspective it's tragic almost. Yet he seemed content with the position for a long time, so I like to think his mind is just designed to deal with that monotony, much like a workaholic for a long hours job if you follow my rational.

Really, one of the joys of this show is seeing how they make use of Star's magic to both cause and fix problems. It allows for creative minds to come up with some fun scenarios each episode, makes me really hopeful that Toffee has some big plan given his schemes and investigation of royal magic during Mewnipendence Day.

I really don't know. In general, when I finish something, being it a fic or a drawing, I have to FORCE myself to stop meddling with it — or else, my freaking anxiety would bind me to perpetually revise it over and over.

Well it was more an idea that just popped up and seemed cool to discuss at the time, given that we've talked about pretty much everything in show. But hey I'm always down for talking about cool ideas linked to the show in these threads, whatever keeps us going until season 2 turns up I was so sure it would already be airing now, so ready for it too...

I think we were pretty set on Jackie's interpretation in the setting, given the number of ways it worked with the setting, possible story and sub plots and interactions with other characters. Brittney as well works as some form of antagonist that's more prim and proper than one would assume pirates to be. As such, it makes sense to make her some form of privateer or trader; linked with an organisation mirroring either the cheer committee or Echo Creek Academy.

Star however is still up for debate. I think there's a value in having her as some form of nautical princess with a magic theme, but not her in show wand. However, I'm not too sure on having it be Atlantis as such, given how important that would make her position, when in show princesses are a bit of a commodity.

This Pirate AU can have all sorts of different nations that involve ruler-ship, that'll help make with the many princess points. Star would be unique since her being the princess of an ancient civilization adds to the wonderment.
I was thinking as well about the idea for magic and I think it's possible to have it for this world if we made it so that it was common in certain areas of the world but distrusted by the majority of people or just uncommon.

Well my concern with it stems from the issue with factoring in other princesses, is Atlantis was this big ancient civilization which Star has somehow survived the ruin of, then how can there be other princesses or how can Star not become the overly special character at the center of the pirate world. Whilst Star is the focus of the show, she's not the most important person in the universe which allows for a more interesting character in my eyes. Having a pirate character being the center of the universe is a tactic which has not payed off in other areas if you know what I m8an.

Yeah you can't go wrong with that interpretation of magic, I liked the uniqueness of the Atlantis film 'magic' in the form of the cystals that powered these amazing objects. I think that interpretation would fit here well, however a more similar magic to the show could be applicable as well. What form do you think would work better?

About Father Time, I believe he had been content of his life for billions of years: in fact, it was all he had ever known — no reason to desire something else until he had become aware that something else existed, or at least very suspicious of it.
Because Star's Magical Instruction Book explains how to restart time, it's clear that at least one of Star's predecessors had dabbled with time herself, giving Father Time the opportunity to see how life outside of the Wheel of Time could be, and maybe being one of the first occasions for him to consider how he could fare if not working incessantly.
…But mine is nothing but a speculation.
