ANTS is the perfect example of movie-fying a comic costume
>>80754614
This is a better example of straight costume adaptions.

My pick is Tony's suit for the films. Especially the first one where it looked a bit heavy to wear
>>
>>80754681
>Especially the first one where it looked a bit heavy to wear
That's because IM1 was the only one to have an actual armor as a costume, since IM2 they've been using CGI for like 90% of the films.

Find several flaws
>>
>>80754494
This sounds odd, but it feels so... Well, nonexistent. The lines feel like they aren't even on the costume or are just painted on, the eyes are just distracting, and the arm stripes just feel like unnecessary detail.
>>
>>80754494
It's good but it's not even best movie Spidey.
>>
>>80754814
People just got too used to Sony shit.

I'm glad we're back to formula, he has the Romita Sr eyes and colors, the webbing is back to part of the fabric instead of the metalized raised net BS Sony used for Raimi's trilogy and ASM, no more overdesigned gritty textures, he has the big fat tick on his back, animated eyes and mechanical web shooters.

For a Spidey costume, it's easily a 9/10.

>>80754494
>>
>>80754859
The lines are just carved into the suit.
>>
>>80754982
Just like the comics.

The raised web lines were something Sony pulled out of their asses.
>>
>>80754859
It looks like canvas. Like someone would do to make it somewhat resistant and light while skin-tight.

It looks much more acrobatic-friendly than the for-show spandex of the first one and the basketball plastic of the second.

The kid is also a lot smaller which will make him look like his acrobatics are more believable.

The highres helps a lot.
>>
I like the resizable eyes, because it'll allow spidey to be more expressive while in costume, which hasn't been possible in previous films.
>>
>>80754859
So the lines look the way they're supposed to be. The eyes are the way they should be. I agree with you on the arm stripes, but they matter so little I barely ever notice or think about them.
>>
>>80754937
I didn't like the pattern of webbing, everything else was good
>>
>>80755124
the stripes are there just to make it look different for reboot's sake. Same as the ASM1 proto costume.

We can expect a more faithful one for his solo movie and other sequels.

finally the raised glazed webbing is gone

his eyes look perfect and are a great throw back to the spiderman many old school fans grew up with

I've never been a fan of red and blue. Too safe and easy. Black and red however is even more timeless, bolder, makes the colour scream. This is why Batman Beyond's costume was so good, why SpOck's costume is loved, and why his original design was black and red before the fuck up. It's just my personal opinion though not law. I know why people prefer red and blue, just not for me.

I think the lines are just to make the costume like Avengers-y. Like how the Avengers logo has the arrow, the spidey suit has v-shaped lines echoing that. Cap's suit kind of has them too.

In the solo Spiderman movie, chances are they'll be gone.

There are good quality screenshots of his back when he flipped if you google them. The emblem is the one thing I don't like with reserved judgement on the arms but even then that's incredibly minor.

>That's because IM1 was the only one to have an actual armor as a costume

None of the IM suits have been 100% made of costume pieces. They'll usually have the parts they can get away with having costume pieces (mostly the chestplate and helmet at the least), with the the rest being mocap suit. It's literally been that way since IM1.

Though I won't argue that the Mark III has been the best looking one.
>>
>>80757557
No, he did wear most of it in some shots in IM1 (articulations excluded, of course).

Mk2 for example was shot completely practical and then replaced by a completely CGI'd version that had moving parts.
>>
>>80757667
>Mk2 for example was shot completely practical

That didn't seem to be an actual suit though. More an entirely animatronic prop. Like there wasn't anyone actually inside it.
>>
>>80757314
The point is subjective.
I grew up on Spiderman tas in the 90s that played him straight.
His most iconic stories (Gwen's death, Kraven's Last Hunt) were all dead serious.

>>I grew up on Spiderman tas in the 90s that played him straight.

>>80757937
So did I, but that doesn't force me to ignore the rest of his history for the sake of nostalgia.
>>
>>80758052
You don't have to adhere to one tone to make a valid adaption especially not with a character with this long of a history.
Was Batman 1989 a slap in the face to all his campy history prior to TDKReturns?

>>
>>80757937
My point is other the black suit no 'costume' of his was ever aboud badassness or menace so im not sure whats the point of remarking that the one in the civil war trailer is not those things.
Those have never been consistent factors with spideys look. He has acted menacing at times. He has done badass things. But his costume has just about always been on the whimsical and colorful side.

You're missing my point. The Mk2/3 were built as suits. They were constrained to the fact that they had to be bigger to accomodate a guy inside, for the pratical stunt shots. The recent ones is fully cgi/half and half, so they can make them slimmer and actually "intersect" a pilot if there was one there.

Is this the unedited one? It looks a lot better in high res, youtube compression a shit. Very subtly textured, doesn't actually look like a balloon or a cartoon but also doesn't look like a fucking basketball. >>
>>80760864

Nah the rest of them aside from the Shield Strike suit are too messy and trying too hard to be tacticool with random strips of fabric, zippers, and awful quilted padding with brown and gray straps. Too messy and Cap doesn't need that much padding.

Avengers Cap and the Shield outfit look most like what they're supposed to be and look the most lightweight.

You know I keep reading this and I'm looking at that thread with all the Spider-men through the years and I'm just wondering what the actual fuck are you talking about because some of the spider-logos in the past have been minuscule

And even if it wasn't, the giant red tick on MCU's Spidey's back more than makes up for it.
>>
>>80754494
It's worth considering, for those unhappy with this suit, that he's likely to have a different suit in his solo film. They always have a new costume with every film to sell more toys. They're probably saving the 10/10 classic Spidey design for that.

Or Sony's going to shit the bed again and we're gonna get something ugly as sin and look back at this and weep bitterly to ourselves
