Animal Man has shit artwork. Or incredibly bland and mediocre if you want to be nice about it. Brian Bolland on covers only rubs salt on that wound. And half the appeal of Absolute editions is seeing all that artwork in nice high quality paper.

The artwork isn't bland at all, it's cartoony, sure, but still better than a lot of what Vertigo was putitng up at the time with LINES and NO COLORS.

Also, being so cartoony reinforces a lot of the comic themes. I know it wasn't intentional, but it still worked within the comic.
