You know how people that didn't read the Johns run like to complain about "having the civilians make fun of Aquaman while he constantly shows them up is dumb"? yes, yes, it only happens in the first arc basically, but 50 issues later we're back to that shit. I absolutely hate this "wink wink dear reader" snark a lot of cape writers do. Aquaman could be such an interesting title, the sea is so fascinating and being mostly unexplored leaves a lot of room to just go nuts, plus the different kingdoms angle could be a lot of fun, but what does this issue tease? more land shit, why? because clearly there aren't enough superheroes having adventures on the surface. And getting to that last page to see that lazy as fuck costume for Mera is retarded, as is the whole bullshit idea of having her bend over backwards for the surface dwellers. Reading the first couple of issues of the New52 and seeing her spunky and with an actual personality and then to see her be a submissive bitch and is happy to be called Aquawoman is just...infuriating.
