So they spend the episode helping her summon her weapon, could have some message with Steven about there being value in being prepared for the worst, or perhaps being brave to protect people.

Why did the camera cut JUST to show these two interacting.
Why? Because it would be "progressive" to show that. Yet, the progression is totally lost when you give the man a boy blue tie and the girl pink flowers with a skirt, and it's lost again when they are the only two melons in that crowd dressed JUST for the feminism pandering. That shot just stuck out. The fact that I clearly saw these two as a boy and girl rather than just melons (Or "people") means it's not doing shit for gender equality, it's doing the opposite. It's make me focus on the fact that the gender roles are subverted in a ham-fisted way.

It's bad symbolism that really didn't need to be there. Doesn't matter if it's only for a couple of seconds, it should have been left out entirely.
