Which directors do you want to get a chance to direct a Anthology movie?

Lucas and Filoni are both terrible directors. Lucas directed the prequels and Filoni directed that shitty Clone Wars movie that has a worse rating than the Holiday Special.

I would like to see George Miller or Quentin Tarrantino direct a Star Wars movie.

>Filoni directed that shitty Clone Wars movie
Those were just shitty Season 1 episodes that Lucas wanted to be a movie because it happened to be Ahsoka's introductory Arc. Unfair to judge Filoni on that.

Not that I am saying he should do live action. But I think he should direct Animated movies for sure, and depending on those, MAYBE give him a shot at an Anthology movie. He clearly gets Star Wars on a very deep level.

As for George, I dunno', maybe he'd be better as a producer, but not a Director I agree. George is better for ideas, and then letting other people bring them to life. Filoni would gladly bring any of George's ideas to life, so they make a good team (as evident in TCW)

>He's probably trolling but there are an alarming number of people out there who sincerely believe this or something very close to it.

This. JJ Abrams is a director with no style or vision of his own, and it results in some very mediocre work.
>>
>>79088797
Basically. He wants desperately to be Spielberg but doesn't actually understand how Spielberg's style works, so he just imitates it but it never really clicks. He'll use techniques because Spielberg did but never actually understands why he used them or what they're meant to do.
>>
>>79088826
Star Wars fans cared about Star Wars. They watched the movies, and the cartoons, read the books, and comics, played the games, which at least until '08 were of good quality.

The mainstream audience cares about Star Wars again, that's all. They're the TBBT audience, with short attention spans. Why do you think they're doing annual movies now? Because Marvel/Disney realized from the MCU that it was the only way to keep the interest of the mainstream audience.

Marvel fans would go and see the movies no matter how long they had to wait.

Now they're taking the same approach with Star Wars. THAT'S why the mainstream suddenly cares, and will continue to care about Star Wars.
>>
>>79088890
And he's not even a bad story writer. His dialogue is pretty bad. And he doesn't really direct his actors. That's why Episode 4 is all over the place in acting.

He can't direct actors at all. And he doesn't know how to develop characters or create excitement in non-action scenes where characters talk to each other. Just look how boring the conversations in the prequels (and in ROTJ to a certain degree) were shot and compare it to Empire or Awakens where every shot had someting interesting to offer.
>>
>>79088938
>That's why Episode 4 is all over the place in acting.
6 is worse though. Hamill was great, but my god Harrison and Fisher were all over the place in 6. Legit the worst acting of any of the movies.

Never understood why they get a pass, but people shit on Hayden non stop. Hayden never got as bad as Ford/Fisher in 6 imo.

And I know those two are capable of acting too, because they were 11/10 in 5. I don't know what the fuck happened. I can only assume Fisher was too far gone on coke, and Ford just didn't want to be there.
>>
>>79088954
>The prequels are some of the ugliest movies I've ever seen in my life. Like Battlefield Earth ugly.

I can only assume you haven't watched that many movies then. The CGI may not have aged well, but the visual design is still top-notch.
>>
>>79088910
That's objectively wrong you meme spouting faggot. Just watch the opening sequence on Jakku and even a retard like you will hopefully realize how different it is to everything we've ever seen in Star Wars before.
>>
>>79088954
The prequels aren't at all ugly, but the over reliance on CG and green screens makes shot composition essentially impossible to pull off in many instances. And he tried a bunch of ideas to stylize scenes that didn't come together properly. But look at the scenery on Naboo in TPM and AotC, or the scene of Anakin riding the speeder bike across Tatooine at sunset when looking for Shmi, or the scene where he marries Padme, etc. There are a ton of visually interesting locales and well done shots. Just perhaps none as iconic as the Binary Sunset in ANH.
>>
>>79088054
>he single-handedly revitalized

More like single-handedly killed it. I personally know about four people who are not going to watch the next episode on the big screen, because they either thought TFA was shit or only considered it good as an unintentional comedy. And while the wave of bought reviews still is high, not one positive review is rated high by users on IMDB.

>No one cared about Star Wars after the prequels.

Except all those people who bought tickets and merch.

>Now, everyone's talking about Star Wars again.

Negative PR is not always good PR. TFA is the Matrix Reloaded of Star Wars. It pulled good money on the virtue of its precedessors' reputation and its marketing campaign, but it killed reputation of the franchise.
>>
>>79088991

> but the visual design is still top-notch

Which is undercut by the direction. Lucas never lets the camera breathe at the moments it should be still but for some insane reason plants his camera down in every dialogue scene like it's fucking 12 Angry Men.
>>
>>79088971
No, it absolutely is. It's literally creative writing 101. Without it, you're just a technical writer doing scientific reports, not a storyteller.
>>
Ahsoka will escape Vader, severely injured, but still alive.

This is just a fact. Oscar nominations don't mean shit. Critics are bought en masse to give reviews in the style "unimaginative rip-off riding solely on nostalgia appeal... 8/10!".

>"killed the reputation of the franchise"?

Quite possibly killed the entire franchise, in fact. But that mostly depends on how cheap they can make the following movies. MCU somehow shambles forward despite only occasionally having non-shit installments, after all.

Not that guy, but I guess more effort. Take Kylo Ren for example: he's supposed to be some intimidating bad guy in the vein of Darth Vader. But it seems like whoever was writing the script didn't ask themselves "how do I make a menacing antagonist?", they just took the lazy route and asked "how do I make Darth Vader, but not Darth Vader?"

And the whole film suffers for it. They took ANH and tried to duplicate its elements at the most superficial level.

I had a conversation with a random gentleman in a bar who thought TFA was amazing. When I asked him what he liked about it, he couldn't really explain anything other than "Well, it's Star Wars." And then he realized after talking that that isn't really a reason to like something and that it lacks substance. By the time I left, he agreed that maybe TFA is probably not that great a movie.

It's the kind of film that you think it's good if you actually never give any thought about why you think it's good.

>Again, how would you write a "new story" while establishing likable new characters AND using the old characters again AND make them all useful and interesting again.

Gee, I don't fucking know. That sounds like an impossible task that no one has ever done before.

Writing an ORIGINAL story with likable characters? Has anyone ever done this successfully?
>>
>>79089299
>he's supposed to be some intimidating bad guy in the vein of Darth Vader.

No, he isn't. You just didn't understand the point of his character at all. He tries to be a menacing badass when he actually is a vulnerable person who acts like a human being and not like Vader at all. No wonder, you people hate this movie when you don't even understand it.
>>
>>79089299
You're an idiot, they didn't write him as anything like Vader. He's sarcastic, openly vulnerable, is prone to outbursts of rage, unstable, not an indiscriminate murderer like Vader, etc. Did you even watch the film? I don't think so, because you have no idea what you're talking about.
>>

No. There is no "original" story.
>>

>how do I make Darth Vader, but not Darth Vader?
Except he's really not, and that's a point the movie itself explicitly makes. You want Vader knock offs, go read through the EU
If anything, the movie highlights those who'd attempt to just straight copy Vader by moving "let's try and be Vader" from the character design to his underlying motivation
>>79089320
Funny thing, literally every person I've spoken to outside of these threads about the film enjoyed it. Maybe not the greatest thing ever, perhaps taking too many plot points from ANH, but still a good entertaining Star Wars film that recaptured what made the originals so good

He's the product of someone unable to write a consistent and coherent character.
>>
>>79089225
He's poorly written. It's not because he's whiny and immature, though that doesn't help. His Vader idolization and fall into darkness is barely explained, and any conviction that he's doing the right thing would dissolve with one visit from Anakin's Force ghost. He claims to have internal conflict but shows none. He only has one scene with Han so it feels meaningless on his end when he kills him. Trust me, people felt the feels for Han and their childhood dying, not for him.

Pretty sure Han is the one who activated the Lightsaber to be honest. The way he was holding it in that scene coupled with him saying he'd do anything. Because you knew it was going to happen. Ford always wanted Han to die and Kasdan wanted to kill him off in ROTJ. He couldn't handle it the first time, it'll be even worse when it happens again. And hopefully, if we're lucky, the book won't sell and he'll embarass Disney too much in his tirades to keep his job.

>He said everyone criticising his book were gay bashing bigots that are worse than Hitler and the Empire

What absolute pigshit.

Wendig wasn't even breaking any ground, my absolute favorite EU series introduced a gay main character eventually and that was in a KID'S series for Scholastic.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ferus_Olin

And he was allowed to be a bit of a dick sometimes, he wasn't a saint despite clearly being Jude Watson's husbando.
>>
>>79090012
No he didn't. He listed a variety of reasons, and only listed gay stuff at the end, "if you're upset about it". He never said they were worse than Hitler.

He's nowhere close to the absolute shitfit Traviss threw in 2009 online when TCW began contradicting her precious, fanfic-tier Mandalorian culture. She was fired because of it, though if you ask her she'll say she valiantly quit.

Wendig didn't exactly handle criticism the best, but he didn't literally call fans of the Jedi Nazis and throw a shitfit on the level of Traviss. Only time will tell if he can get anywhere close to her level.

No, he did. He made multiple blogposts and a whole bunch of tweets just going off on people calling his book shit and decided to use the gay characters as a shield from it by calling everyone hateful bigots despite the fact that it was almost universally just people talking about the quality of his writing. I know because I read all of them and it was hilarious. Far more entertaining than his garbage book at any rate, although it's a crime that he was allowed to get away with treating people that way. Karen Traviss was a cancer, but this guy is well on his way to being the second coming of her.

The problem is...he isn't a nobody, he's writing a Star Wars trilogy where we look into what the Empire was doing after the battle of Endor and the first book is already terribly written. Wendig can't understand that it's his terrible prose, run-on sentences and general writing mistakes that make the book, Aftermath, a very poor book.

I blame the butthurt "save the legends" fuckers who became the vocal minority. I've seen dozens of casual readers say that the book wasn't their cup of tea, and ah well these things happen. But then they always bring up the crazy legends fans which justifies the book more.

Personally I didn't even read it, and I'm not too interested since it's not long after Endor. I already know the general vibe of history there. Out of all the new canon stuff, I can say it and Heir are only books I didn't feel like reading. I'll take two misses out of a dozen hits.

It has less to do with BLACK GUY IN MY MOVIE (which Disney was apparently afraid of enough to reduce him on posters) and more to do with the nostalgia factor being entirely absent to China. Their reviewers and bloggers have noted it too, and a lot of them are ripping into the movie. They're aware that nostalgia was a huge part of the movie and since they don't really have any of it, the constant "LOOK IT'S X! LOOK IT'S Y!" comes across as ridiculous and meaningless to them and they feel they should've focused less on riding the coattails of older movies and more on making sure this one stood on its own.

What's also hurting TFA's performance is that they've seen movies that drew inspiration from Star Wars, but without having that context, a lot of the mainstream audience saw TFA and thought "oh we've seen stuff like this, nothing new." So weirdly enough, in China both people who know about Star Wars and people who don't ended up considering the movie to be derivative for completely different reasons.

The winks in the prequels were far worse. Putting X-Wings, stormtroopers, Han, Luke, Leia and Vader's mask in episode VII made sense and served the story, but there was no reason to shoehorn Artoo, 3PO, Chewbacca and Boba Fett (clones) into the prequels. R2 and 3PO are staples of the franchise and Lucas didn't want to leave them behind. Chewbacca made sense because they went to Kashyyyk, he wasn't in the trilogy until then. Boba Fett, you can blame entirely on the fanbase who wanted more of him. Jango and the Clones are much better and more interesting than Boba anyways. And Anakin building 3PO isn't a retcon, but I do agree that it was dumb. That's something I definitely would not have done.

What do you mean by new concepts and imagery? Is it the plot? A bad guy in black tries to take over the galaxy and seeks to destroy the Jedi. This has always been the plot in every Star Wars movie.

Is it the CGI? Many movies before and after the prequels used tons of CGI and The Fellowship of the Ring was much more successful at it.

Do you mean the planets? The four most important planets in the PT were Tatooine, a planet that looks like Earth, a planet that looks like the city in Blade Runner and a planet that looks like Cloud City but with water instead of clouds.

There was some new and original stuff in the prequels, but also in TFA. Every Star Wars movie established new things for the franchise.

Of course they cannot ever have anything more than buzzwords, because you automatically discount any criticism (plot nonsensical even for a Hollywood blockbuster, terrible or nonexistent acting, complete derivativeness in both story and visual deparments, the main character which fanfics would be bashed for, shitty and inept villains) as a buzzword. Eh.
My 'childhood movies' were the Special Edition releases of the OT.

OT are strong films. They did the worldbuilding right and told a compelling story. They also had a great cast and directors.
The PT had a lot of good ideas, but so-so writing cause Lucas didn't manage to put the exposition into the story without making it clunky. Direction was poor particularly the dialogues.
TFA was an all around decent flick. Didn't have any new concepts to offer side from the Knights of Ren and felt a bit like it was going through the motions. Didn't have the glaring weaknesses the PT had though. Dialogues were okay, exposition mildy heavyhanded at times, since they are trying to reboot the franchise for a younger audience, but at least the chemistry of the cast felt right and the film had humor.

Add to that that I'm not as easily impressed anymore than I was as a kid when whatching the OT.
The films held up pretty good though in comparison to the old Bond movies for example.

Welp, looks like /swg/ rolled in shit once again. This is why I can't stand to come here anymore, and I knew once TFA came out the threads would be even more useless than ever. At least you guys are predictable.

Odds are, it's the same guys, probably back after a ban.
>>
>>79091737
Well, yeah. Referencing his own work (from the same continuity, no less) is a motif. Referencing someone else's work is a homage, if you're feeling charitable. Imagine if Rowling sold Harry Potter to Disney, who immediately released a new book (with seven more to come) about Penny Trotter, an orphan who finds out she is a witch and must then attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, unaware of an impending confrontation with the evil Draco Malfoy and his dark minions. Fortunately, she has the help of her friends, one smart and one courageous, and the guidance of Ronald Weasley.

People would start making pointed remarks, yeah.
>>
>>79091994
Whenever the threads start like this, I back out of it too. It's literally the same thing that's been happening over and over again. It's honestly why I don't like talking about ANY of the movies.
>>
>>79092059
Complaining about the complaints doesn't contribute anything to the thread either.
You can either ignore the discussion you don't like or start a conversation about something more interesting. Talking about something you don't wanna talk about is not helping in letting the thread move in a different direction.

It's easy. Just don't talk about stuff you don't wanna talk about.

>Referencing someone else's work is a homage, if you're feeling charitable

You mean like how Lucas "homaged" The Hidden Fortress and how MacQuarrie "homaged" large sections of Fritz Lang's Metropolis for A New Hope?

Star Wars is a franchise built out of homage, it's all the shit Lucas and his crew liked in film school glued together in a bizarre stew that manages to come together. It was built out of theft.

JJ is just doing the same thing. And it's not just A New Hope, those gorgeous wide-shots were a clear homage to David Lean's epics, the final fight in the snowy forest was clearly inspired by old samurai movies. Just because Disney was behind the movie doesn't invalidate JJ's vision, this idea that he's some talentless soulless hack is insane. JJ has a very distinctive, slick visual style and storytelling technique which is all throughout TFA for good and bad.
>>
>>79092171
Snoke says in a scene, he talks of the other Knights, and he says Klo is their leader, but that is their only mention.

And someone (Pablo Hidalgo I think) mentioned that those dead bodies in that scene actually aren't Luke's students, but rather regular people. Makes me think they're planning on showing the Jedi vs Knights fight sometime soon.

As for the other Knights, we know literally nothing about them. Don't even know if they have Lightsabers, or if they can use the Force (although I'd imagine they can)
>>
>>79092203

Oh, absolutely. Abrams absolutely did good work with what he had. I just wish he had had more free reign with the project. When I first saw the movie, there were points where I could almost feel the movie changing track from "Abrams Star Wars movie hell yeah" to "Disney by the numbers Star Wars".

If Disney had much creative control they probably would have said things like "your script makes no sense there's no downtime anywhere, how the fuck does this universe work what the fuck is going on."

Honestly, and I say this as a JJ fan, it had all his script issues where he seriously does not give a shit about plot. JJ cares about character and keeping the movie going as fast as possible, which is why the movie never explains the politics of what's going on because GOTTA GO FAST. The MacGuffin barely matters to the story, the map is a total afterthought 20 minutes in so Abrhams can just let these characters bounce off each other and exchange banter between setpieces.

The only part I felt like maybe was Disney mandate was the Starkiller, but even that let JJ indulge his Spielberg-inspired overhead shots.

That was pure JJ. Nothing gets his dick harder more then stories about father figures, and I bet you anything the idea of making Kylo a Vaderboo torn between his grandfather's legacy and his actual father was all his idea. The whole film was about Star Wars' actual legacy and the difficulty of creating a new generation out of the ashes of the old.

Except for Snoke. He doesn't fit in anywhere and is honestly the film's biggest misstep, along with a shit design and a terrible name. He was the only big issue I had with the movie. They should have either made him an actual character or kept him in the shadows entirely A New Hope, as is he's this crappy little Gollum knockoff.

Probably cause Thrawn trilogy (or just Heir to Empire, if we want to go stand alone to stand alone) was way better made and written. Also TFA even used the EU concept of Kylo and Rey being almost exact equivalent to Jacen and Jania.

DESU, i don't blame fans of Thrawn trilogy made that it's "non canon" anymore and yet they used a Jacen and Jania anyway.

>>
>>79094156
I don't think I'd call it "standard sith procedure." Quite the opposite.

Oh inside they're a seething collection of Dark Side emotions. Fear, greed, anger, all that good stuff. Seems like initial exposure to the Dark Side is like a drug, flooding the user with cheap, raw power but twisting their feelings and perceptions until someone like Anakin can stab a bunch of kids and then choke his wife who was the very reason he fell. If they last long enough, i.e. don't go out like a PCP powered psycho, the more senior Sith have learned an iron control to contain their darker impulses. They learn to master the madness. In this way we get Sheev who can pass as a sweet old man until those rare times when he gets to cut loose and reveal his inner cackling madman has he saber spins through the air.

Kylo Ren doesn't rate anywhere near the Sith because he hasn't mastered the necessary self-control. He can maintain for awhile but then something triggers his dark side super retard strength and he loses it. Even more than his wounds I'm sure this is how Rey gets the better of him. She didn't show any refinement or finesse in her attacks but she had enough to foil his efforts and he lost his own control. Same thing that happened the moment she managed to resist his mental invasion.

When they next meet they should both have more training, so it should be interesting to see what changes the characters undergo before the next movie. Especially when Snoke makes Kylo Ren become Matt, Radar Technician.

The Falcon was conveniently ready right to the second for Han to finish his explanation before he took them out of hyperspace just past the shield protecting Starkiller Base. Poe and his X-Wing fleet were apparently experiencing some kind of hyperspace "hang time" just waiting for the instant the shield was down.

Why do people constantly say this but glorify the OT's severely outdated effects? The Gungan city looks better than any matte painting from the 80's. Stop being so damn delusional. Technology improved considerably.
>>
>>79094717
Ep 1 CGI looks barely ok
Ep 2 is a mess of biblic proportions
Ep 3 isn't as bad but still bad
>>
>>79094717
The OT gets by on nostalgia since really and the fact that they couldn't have done too much better in the 70s and early 80s. They can still be looked at fondly.

The Prequels are an interesting mix, because you can track from movie to movie how the digital effects and techniques used were improving. And then there is the morosely amusing fact that a lot of what people think (read: know in their shriveled soul) is CGI turns out to be footage of model cities/arenas/alien planets and matte paintings, only with digital effects to merge these with the real actors. This creates the impression and the popular, but wrong, opinion that all the cityscapes and alien planets were 100% CGI when they weren't.
>>
>>79094717
What i don't understand is why some fans get mad about the worlds in TFA when back in the OT the aliens planets were generic as fuck and looked the same. Only the PT had different planets but they look horrible. I think the comics have spoil a lot of you.

So I kinda became hooked on Star Wars Rebels after Vader showed up.
The relationship between Ahsoka and Vader seemed intresting so I decided to check out Clone Wars.
I was immediately surprised how fun and likable Ahsoka was. She actually comes of like a real character with flaws and goals.

So my question basically is: Why do all the feamle character in Rebels suck so much compared to Ahsoka.

All the piolet and the mandalorian ever do is make annoyed faces at the "stupid men" and make jokes about their male team mates.

But besides from them being unlikable they also have like no character develop as well. They never fail, there is never a challenge or fear that they have to overcome.
from the beginning of the show they are the best at what they do and stay that way.
unlike ahsoka or the male character in rebel that actually fight and grow stronger over the course of the first series.

what happened?

to writers really think that girls are only going to like a character if the are perfect in every way and make fun of men?
>>
>>79095187
>to writers really think that girls are only going to like a character if the are perfect in every way and make fun of men?
That's just where mainstream media in general is right now. "Strong woman" right now is just a man with boobs who is better than other men.

Hera and Sabine feel like "strong woman" archetypes, whereas Ahsoka was introduced as a headstrong fuck-up who learned from her mistakes and progressed as a character over time, winning over the hearts of the viewers. Her gender was irrelevant except for when we were fapping to her.
>>
>>79095187
Hera makes sense in that regard because she's the team mom and, frankly, she talks like a mom to everyone except Kanan. Sabine trying to emulate her falls a bit flat, though, because she doesn't have the maturity to pull it off.

Hera suddenly makes perfect sense if you think of her as Kanan's wife. She's not really the "Strong Woman, don't need no man" archtype more so than "Momma Bear, loyal to her husband and cubs til death". It's why I like Hera a lot. I haven't seen THAT ONE since "Don't need no man" got popular and very rarely before that.
>>
>>79095187
That pic ;.;
>>
>>79095243
>"strong woman"

I think it´s not really surprising that most girls don´t really care about "nerd" stuff if all the female character just act like "men with boobs and no flaws"
I mean how are girls supposed to identify with those characters. there is nothing feminine or even generally speaking relocatable about them

The writers should do themselves a favor an actually look at female characters that girls like like twilight or most of Hayao Miyazaki
works.

female characters that are strong but still have to face challenges and act feminine

After recently viewing the prequel films, I feel this is incorrect. Especially when you compare it to films at the time like The Mummy and The Matrix.

>>79094843
>PT's CGI looks 15 years older than it is
No, it dated for it's time. When released it was cutting edge and mind blowing. I remember the hype just like Jurassic Park's CGI. Look at the attention of detail and the progression of effects from TPM and ROTS. You can really tell how much technology improved and got realistic. It's far superior to puppets and stop motion.
>>
>>79095336
I don´t know man. Watch the episode with Lando
all that Hera and Sabine did that episode was making annoyed faces while the men humiliated themselves.

plus if hera is the mom than it´s fair to say that kanan is the dad but he actually fails and get´s to grow as a character unlike her.
>>
>>79091054
This
>>
>>79095382
That's Sabine, mostly. Hera is literally "mom" and acts extremely feminine throughout the series. She's just not 'dainty' or a 'damsel', so it's not as fucking obvious.

I'm not really getting that impression with Rebels given that they're concept is a quirky A-Team style rag-tag group out to stick it to The Man/Empire. They are all exceptionally skilled at what they do, even Chopper, and the Ghost itself has some crazy effective stealth tech in the first season.

Despite that Hera comes off more as Team Mom rather than "stronk woman". She's capable but nurturing of Ezra and nagging of Daddy Kanan for neglecting their newfound son's Jedi upbringing. Hera even supports Ezra's vision to help the Senator-in-Exile despite her, it turns out wise, misgivings. She is also loyal to a fault, the fault being stopping herself from doing what she wants/feels is right, like when she refuses to help Kanan when he's captured. At least until the others took it to the point where she decides, what the hell, and goes all in with them.

This Hera is better than her blue little girl concept, which I suspect 4chan would have loved in it's usual way)

Sabine would seem weird if she weren't capable given she's a Mando. A very vocal group hates her artsy-fartsy ways coupled with her combat effectiveness, but really she's still a 17 year old girl AND a Mandalorian. As long as she earned her armor. Imagine what Mandalorian high school is probably like. Not quite like the cadets under Satine's rule. That said Sabine, arguably one of the characters lacking for serious development, showed major trust issues to the detriment of their team dynamic.
>>
>>79095503
Hera is great. If you read "A New Dawn" you will like her even more.
>>
>>79095730
The one character who has suffered the worst? Zeb. He fits the Big Guy archetype to a ridiculous extent. Big, strong, dumb, fierce to his enemies but relatively easy going with his friends. Not very complicated. Oh, and the (currently assumed) last surviving member of his proud warrior race.

One of the best things the show is doing, if they can pull it off, is elevating Sabine and developing her more. Not in the sense of Strong Women Doing Awesome Things but because her story is very much thematically like Ezra's beyond the Jedi aspect. They're the young generation showing us what it's like growing up under the Empire, especially when you don't like the status quo.
>>
>>79095476
Hera's expression when Azmorigan commented on her outfit was priceless. Her taking it out on Lando's balls was even better.

Lando knew he'd earned it but that's just part of the games. Sometimes you deal yourself in for a little pain because you know your cards will win in the end.
>>
>>79095730
I liked short, chubby Hera. She was cute.
>>
>>79095703
A talking corpse.
>>
>>79095748
Hera's character comes off as someone too caring for her chosen profession as a freedom fighter. It makes me worry because her father Cham learned firsthand how caring just makes the prices you pay for your struggle so much harder to carry. He seemed pretty beaten but still determined at the end of Lords of the Sith. It'll be interesting to see how he is in Rebels, and especially if he approves of Hera's actions. I wonder if we're in for some daddy-daughter friction.
>>
>>79094370
>Finn

>>
>>79095760
I don't know about Zeb. I feel like he's more complicated than what he puts on. He seems like someone who has given up everything just to put it into the team. I feel like he pretends to fit the "big dumb" stereotype but he's really a alien Kanan.
>>
>>79095503
The context is different also. Ahsoka had the backing of her master, the Jedi Order and the Grand Army of the Republic. Sabine's motives are not yet revealed but her trying to act tough is believable. Her homeworld is occupied, apparently she's a wanted person almost everywhere. She has to act "manly".
Leia in ANH is like this.

I actually like blue engineer Hera with her giant wrench. It's cute, but I'm really glad they didn't use it. It isn't a good fit, and Chopper makes more sense as their mechanic anyway. Plus knowing how this site would deal with it the perverts would have the most "positive" encouragement. The rest would deal worse with her than they have an artistic Mando teenager who dyes her hair.

A lot of these designs are odd. I like the WW ace pilot look (fits with the original concept of the Ghost as being like an old flying fortress style bomber) but some of them, like cyclops slit goggle, are neat but don't fit. The tall one on the far right looks like she'd have an English accent worth of an Imperial.
>>
>>79095990
I like some of the background material where he loves his grandmama. She survived the Imperial purge too, but I wonder if she's still alive by the time of the show.

They also have some of the spiritual aspects, like the dust, which hasn't come into play with his character. I'm glad we'll be seeing more of his people.

>>
>>79095990
>but he's really a alien Kanan.
I want to argue against this but then I remember how both those chucklefucks fell right into Lando's trap. You can really see why they're friends, for better or worse.
>>
>>79096011
This is true. I suppose what I've really been missing of late is opportunities for Sabine to interact with other characters outside of being lusted after creepily by Ezra. The episode with the other stormtrooper cadet kind of felt a bit flat, there, because it simply wasn't well written compared to the others in the season.
>>
>>79095888
I haven't read 'Lords of the Sith'. Is it good?
>>
>>79096113

>>
>>79096011
I want to say that a big part of Sabine's motivation is her need for belonging. Rather like Rey who just wanted someone who cared enough to go back to her.

Sabine had to leave everything she was behind and was even betrayed by her one friend after the Academy. She also seems to trade her Mandalorian skills for her place even if the others don't demand she pay for it. Also I think she appreciates being able to hurt some Imperials, a running theme with everyone else on the show.

Still she also spends a lot of time alone in her room, apparently brooding. Definitely her teenage girl acting up.

I hope her past catching up to her pays off. Could be cool, could be bad. Fingers crossed.

I don't see a problem here. Do you get pulled out of the movie by the stop-motion in the OT? You may not like the shiny cartoon aesthetic George chose for the PT, but people like you who go around complaining don't seem to understand that it was a choice. A huge walkway panel falling on Obi-Wan's legs could have been communicated visually a number of ways in the film, but this blocking and framing reflects the way George chose to shoot the thing and could only have been accomplished with CGI.

Also, the CGI looks far more digital (not BAD, just DIFFERENT) in II and III than Phantom Menace since George shot Phantom Menace on film. Main reason why that movie actually feels closest to the OT aesthetic, IMO>

It would have communicated a lot better the sense that this evil dude was once the son of our cheery rebel friends. They needed a look between him and Chewie, as well, since those guys obviously would have had a relationship.

then why does it happen to the male characters?
why do the female characters never have any flaw but the male characters tons?
why do the writers never pock fun at the female characters?

Is that book good? I'm finishing Darth Plaguies on audiobook and I need something else to get my SW fix.

Fug. I never had any desire to read the Thrawn books (those covers are goofy as hell) but this actually looks cool as shit.
