She has the whole, leading through forward action as opposed to actual direct leadership. The two are similar for sure, but actual leadership has much more control that just hoping people follow your lead. We saw this in IDFT where Star trying her hand at the more standard form of leading didn't go too well until everyone's lives were at steak.

In relation to the AU, she'd be the one with direction on what to do, and I could see the others going along with it. Lady is the enigma in that she'd have to be forced to be there by some force, otherwise she'd just leave and do her own thing.

I might be alone in this, but when I think about the sextuplets AU, I think of the characters as completely divorced from the stories from which they were originated. For example, I see Sol not as the brainwashed Marco that through some convoluted series of events gets to live with the others — but as a literal twin of that AUs Marco, that CASUALLY resembles the Sol we knew.
Like, if the same actor (heavily typecasted) interpreted another role in a different story.
For the same reason, monster Marco and even Mewberty Star are not literally the same character we knew before: they grew up alongside Marco or Star, so while still crazy and wild, they are more "manageable".
But that's just my view, anyway: tha original author has the final say, obviously!

The problem there is that there's not much room for growth of a story, it'd make for a good short story but nothing more expansive. One of the main reasons for this is that the scenarios that could lead to them becoming monsters effectively eliminates most of their previous character and their supporting cast. As such, you're either left with these effectively new characters in an environment away from supporting characters, which kinda sucks. Or you have them with supporting characters, but due to their inability to have meaningful dialogue they become the secondary focus.

Well that was my understanding too, in that they don't have knowledge of them not being together as they are, but the actuality of the situation is that for some reason these established characters in their own universes have been dragged together and consider each other brothers to some degree.

The who or what causing this is irrelevant of course, but any form of development has to be from that snapshot onwards as if they'd been together in the past, they flat out wouldn't be the same as they seem to be.

If it's any consolation is don't particularly like the AU, or any AU that gathers together people in such a way. It's rather stagnant, development wise. But I like to interact with the idea as I adore the anon who creates the AU works.

4chan as a whole is like that, Folly. People who spend more time online are more prone to low-moods, mood swings and depression in whatever form. I also imagine that many people enjoy watching cartoons due to their positive nature, they try and make the viewer enjoy themselves or be happy with the slight expense of the most consistent stories being told as is the case in other visual mediums.

Simple put, the answer is yes. But wallowing on 4chan certainly isn't the ideal solution or place to be long term. It's a nice short term place to find sympathy for sure, but the ideal use of the site is to focus on hobbies and interests that you share with others and indulge it. The cure to a focus on a low mood is a switch in focus; which is no doubt a hard process. But most important it's a gradual process, the site is a helpful tool on the side as part of recreation.

Luckily we're both a small and much more positively minded general, so if you're having a low mood don't sweat it, many of us can definitely related. Don't feel bad about having a low mood, it's a chemical thing. Just try and do what you can to look towards the positive, or focus on the gradual changes that you can see helping.

It's doubly fun as it leaves Marco in an interesting place. Is he really good so they balance out somewhat? Is he too shocked like everyone else is with how bad Star is? If you're looking for some inspiration I'd suggest a spooky Janna of some kind. Was thinking of what kind of development they're likely to go for in season 2, and if it isn't the more cheeky but cute Janna we've seen brought up in the generals it could be more of a morbid focused troublemaker.

Huh that could make for a pretty damn interesting episode, would certainly put the nail in the Starco ending if they took a liking to him; which wouldn't be too amiss given that he's both orderly and can whoop ass.

Well, to be fair it isn't even the weekend yet. That and I think Sabrina and Hope are so similar in their standings that people will just choose Sabrina over Hope when they think of acute background character for Marco to get with. It also doesn't help when the one concrete thing we have to go on with Hope is domestic troubles, not the most romantic concept in the world is it?

I also like Hope too much as a Janna supporting character, someone who helps to mellow her out and deal with her as she doesn't want her to get into trouble. Works doubly well if she's rooting for Manna as a way of vindicating her unsolvable situation at home. Trying to fit her troubled friend up with someone who'll look after her and all that.

Man, all of them could have some fun little scenarios. For instance, I could imagine if Marco got paired up with Jackie he wouldn't be able to have his say in how to treat the thing, whilst her confidence leads to increasingly risky situations until Marco's safe guy instincts go into override and he has to put a foot down.

Or perhaps she's got super strong motherly instincts, so she cuts all her risky activities and overly focuses on the job at hand. Leading to a weird scenario where Marco has to be the one to show that you can still be who you are, even when raising a kid. A relearning the fun side of things from the most unlikely of sources.

Ah man, there's too many ways it could all go down. Hopefully a creative anon gets some inspiration from it.

I hope you are right and it picks up. I like Sabrina too but week after week it feels like all we get is Sabrina (after Starco, of course) as far as the second tier girls go. True her domestic problems aren't all that romantic but stories don't have to focus solely on that. HaremBro wrote a great Mope green last week and it didn't involve domestic abuse and it was great.

Yeah I think one of the strengths of the simple style is that you don't have to be constrained by realistic art styles. Characters and their appearances can vary to fit the mood, their expression or just the scene itself. SU does this with the heights of the main cast, and it's usually not too noticeable, but it can cause some issues with consistency, especially upon review.

Still, at least with Star it gives the characters an interesting number of setups. As for Janna, there were some scenes in IDFT that weren't the most flattering for her and her chin, but she's a qt anyway.

I hate to say it, but given we know so little about either of the two, people will just go for the most popular background girl and the others are really left the scraps of interest. That's the case for Hope I think, but given that we havent explored everything in the secondary girls, sacrifices have to be made.

Besides following up on some serious plot threads like 'what's up with monster arm' or "How strong/valuable is the wand now that it's cleaved?" I echo the desire for some classic school episodes like the fake baby plot. This >>79021635 take on the idea is especially funny. But I'm loving all of the general theory crafting on how the characters would stack up as parents. More family bonding episodes would be nice, maybe even some early childhood stuff.

It feels kind of odd that Star got to see her life as it started as a baby, but Marco's just centered around his nodding ritual. Probably just a time saver, or them wanting to hold off on showing 'why' he like Jackie. The overthinking part of my brain likes to think something happened and it caused a mental block.


Holiday episodes would be great if not just for the humor in how Star misinterprets them, but in the potential for feels depending on what's being celebrated.

I thought that too about Marco's past, but kind of assumed, when watching it later, that maybe the machine picks up on the mental state of whoever's looking at it and shows moments related to that.

Like Star wasn't really thinking of anything beyond starting time again, so it just showed a general outline of her life, but Marco mainly wanted it to start to see Jackie and so it only showed moments connected to her.

Have a look at how Zuke the Juke draws Amethyst in SU, her hair is like a super long version of what I could see Janna's hair being. A wild and untamed wave of pitch black hair, all wrapped up with the help of a scraggly beanie.

As for the /sug/ fallout, I can't imagine we'll get anything too drastic like that. /sug/ really was behaving itself. It just seems that not every fan was as understanding of the mods demands, and they eventually pushed their luck and as a result the general gets the boot. Shame really, it hasn't caused any noticeable trouble for the board yet.

Hah, gotta look for all the deepest lore now before season 2 hits. But I imagine you're right in the overthinking department, considering how safe Marco is and how good Rafael and Angie seem to function, he likely had an enjoyable but simple childhood.

Interestingly enough I could see all the girls being both good or bad mothers, depending on how they interpret the task. Star is possibly the one most likely to be a poor parent, considering her issues with her mother and authority figures as a whole.

Then again, I'm trying to see the positive side of the secondary girls who could just as well be as bad as Star. Even Marco could easily fall under the overly attentive father role, which is likely what they'd go with sadly.

Well, much of it was setup of the premise and it's diverging effects on the source material. As such you're going to have to think of the immediate ramifications of what happened and tie that in with what happens early on in the show and the challenges the two characters face. So chapter 2 will likely be similar to one in that it's joined with what happens early on in the actual show.

A very fun read, and easy to follow, which makes it easy to enjoy even without extensive knowledge of either source material. I'm glad it didn't linger too long on the canon/familiar elements such as Marco's intro, since that scene is used a lot in many 'alternate and/or divergent canon' stories.

The fast pace complimented the action, and overall 'surprise' of Star outing Marco. Plenty of good funny parts: such as Sabrina getting saved only to trip and fall immediately afterwards. Left on a good cliffhanger. Hope to see more.
