That wasn't sad at all. Sadie was miserable and being pushed into something she didn't want to do. Steven realized he was only making Sadie do it because it was the sort of thing he enjoyed.

The only sad part was that Sadie's mother was trying so hard to be supportive and didn't realize she was making her daughter's life miserable.

Not only that, with what little screentime we had with her showed her to be a very fun-loving and boisterous woman who would bury you in the ground if you say a bad word about Sadie.

This is when I knew that Sadie needed to die in a fire. She lived out in a very spacious basement, she gets gifts from her mother EVERY SINGLE DAY to make her happy. While her mom and Steven were enjoying themselves she went out of her way to REFUSE to communicate with the two most understanding and patient people in the show to date. She sat around doing nothing and refusing to interact with her own Mother and Steven like A DECENT HUMAN BEING would. She had the fucking gall to be angry at the two people who were trying to help her even when it was clearly her fault for being a complete waste of human garbage. Her only real "personality" is wanting Lars D in her vagoo. I hope they do get together because these two horrible people deserve to be miserable together.

If I recall correctly I think the impression wasthat Sadie was hesitant to properly communicate with her mother specifically because of how Gun-Ho she got whenever Sadie expressed a modicum of interest in something. Sadie still shoulders blame for not cutting to the core of the issue with her mom, but there did seem to be a general reason for it.
