It's because Hellen Jo does everything so drastically off model that it becomes distracting.

Pic related isn't a special zoom in designed to be amusing or emotive, it's just how she draws Steven.

And in the case of House Guest, alot of the animation is very static, such that there's a part where Greg hugs Pearl and it feels out of place because it's so fluid.

So what do you guys think about Gem weapons? I was talking to some friends about this a while back and we have some serious questions

Literally no one in Garnet's flashback, had a gem weapon, not Pearl, not Rose or any of the soldiers there to protect Blue Diamond. When did they learn to summon gem weapons and how? Also an interesting point is both sides seemed to learn it since Jasper also has a gem weapon

Peridot likely doesn't even know how to summon her weapon, although she likely has one because if slave caste Pearls can gain gem weapons its likely any gem can

Lapis might not have a weapon, its unclear to me, its possible her wings were her gem weapon

Maybe Peridots, being engineers, are between thought (blue) and action (yellow). Red is the color of passion (ruby), so yellow action with red passion... that sounds like Jasper. Passionate action will always lose out to passion tempered by thought (Garnet). What is white, then? Servitude (pearl)? Thought + servitude seems to equal passivity; action + servitude, slavery; passion + servitude, pink, Rose Quartz, who would do anything for the people she loves (anyone) and it rubbed off on her pearl. Amethyst... violet... light blue and red, or pink? Red and white seems to suggest a warrior slave or a love slave, but it is tempered by a modicum of thought (blue). Sounds legit. Hmmmm... but Lapis is pure blue = pure thought? Maybe. She did lose her mind - her ability to think, ie, she lost herself.

Alright so, peri is pretty small in stature to start with, and her appearance is pretty cute and adorable before we even come to her teeth, and her personality is cute too, shes just 100% irritated all the time and sarcastic untill she gets excited about something. Which is cute. Her fangs are cute, they're for being intimidating and being funny.

Now as for sugilite, shes giant, prepetually in a rage and her body is built like a fucking run away 18 wheeler truck, which is both hot and intimidating. Her attitude is cocky and violent and her fangs exist for the singular purpose of being driven through somethings flesh, thats super hot. She could crush you, without a second thought, how many people like that do you know? Even sugilite's body language is all about power and strength. with this show, I assume they are being deliberate more than they are being lazy

they didn't hide Pink Diamond's mural because they were lazy and didn't wanna draw it, they hid it because they were hiding it. They didn't leave out the weapons out of laziness, they did it because gems didn't summon weapons yet

Also the events at the Arena weren't terribly abridged, they seems rather exact and specific, its the stuff after Ruby and Sapphire run into the wild together that is sort of abridged with the music montage
