This is actually an incredible team story. I really need to get on reading through this run.

I'd known about Plastic Man getting to show up and be incredible, but I didn't realize how solid of an arc overall it was for everyone. It's got everyone involved and and something for everyone to do without coming across as too obvious about it. The story manages to touch and work in all these different plots and character arcs and bits of the universe. And it does it all in a handful of issues.

You read Trial By Fire, right? That was "fixing" it. Next came Obsidian Age, Plas gets turned to stone in the past and reconstituted in the present, talks about how he went nuts as an immortal body spread across the earth for millennia, then tells the team he wants to be a father to his kid so he's quitting. He's gone for about a year, then Trial By Fire happens and he comes back but is presumably a better father to his son as implied by scenes like >>78686140
