>Okay, but how much better would DC/Marvel's straight white hero comics be if they were written by more women?

I mean...maybe? More women writing is good, less "one dude writing four books he's been handed by Editorial" is good, but eh, whatever
>>
>>78675018

That's disgusting, kill yourself.

>>78675624

>>
>>78675720
Karla is going to hit him with a mind whammy. He's nowhere near stable enough to deal with this.
>>
>>78675624
Yeah if you have a bunch of women writing what editorial tells them to then it probably won't be good.

Writers are usually best when writing their own stuff, can control what they're writing, and are on characters they like.
Like >>78675693 said, Bennett is pretty bland and inoffensive but Bombshells is her best work since editorial doesn't give a shit about it.

>>78675798
I think there are probably tics some readers are super-sensitive to that women are less likely to write, so that makes sense.
>>
>>78675815
Jason truly has some of the worst fans.
Not as bad as Dick but he's certainly up there.

I do find it funny how little fucks DC really gives about Jason despite the fact that he's gonna be in a movie and will probably be Loki 2.0. Like damn give him to somebody who isn't Lobdell or Snyder Jr.

Here's the problem, Anon. Not everybody is willing to stick through shit to get to the gems, especially if they're new to comics. For instance, when I read Hellblazer (took a few months between my job, but I managed), I found it a chore to get through the original Delano run. If I didn't know for a fact that there's good runs after, I wouldn't have been invested enough not only to stick it through to the good runs, but force my way through the bad ones to see the story to the end.
>>
>>78677637
But you're objectively wrong.
>>
>>78677411
Jason has like 5 or 6 different versions of his character that barely flow with one another (precrisis, angry Robin, Winick, Morrison, Lobdell) so it's just easier to make up shit or flanderize what you do like and get mad when writers don't use it.

No, complaining about being helpful to newcomers is killing this place. You know, when I was knew to this board, I didn't know much and asked a lot of questions that, in hindsight, were kind of stupid. And you know what? People just answered them helpfully. I'm still behind on current JL

my other goal for the year is to read all of Cerberus. I know a kind anon storytimed it, but it's the kind of thing I'd either need to run, or sit and read at my own pace. Wouldn't mind finding a phonebook or two.

Hey, you know how you were talking about how you couldn't think of a good villain? How about somebody who does terrible things and justifies it because they say the world is terrible, totally ignorant to the fact that they are what makes the world terrible? Someone who sings the praises of being cruel and heartless, but gets defensive whenever they are called as such? Someone who calls people who believe in being good to others naive, but keeps claiming that they are a good person?

Says the man decrying helping people read new comics in a thread dedicated to helping people read comics they never heard before. I think the reason you're having a hard time writing people is because you have no awareness of people or the world around you.

Honestly, I don't understand why you're so passionate about this. Pretending for a moment that your method of getting new people into comics works (it doesn't, but we'll pretend) what the hell benefit is there to this? What, you WANT to bring in more people to endlessly bitch that everything is shit and how other websites are ruining the comics that suck anyway? .....Sounds great.

Yeah, but notice the keyword "we", as in us in JSA Storytime. We are pretty much the only people on /co/ who read or even acknowledge to existence of the Legion or Jared. And we are the only threads that actually engage in civil conversation on a consistent basis. Everyone else just comes here to bitch and moan.
