So I found out that the Go compiler actually lets me cross-compile to any OS/Architecture, and now I feel silly for not realizing this.

Instructions: Download and extract the Zip that works for you, to a folder on its own.
The executable starts a web server that you can go to at http://localhost:9000

Downloading through this downloads the files to a "downloads" folder under the executable,so if you unzipped to Downloads, inside of a folder called "RTdownloader", then your videos will be at "Downloads/RTdownloader/downloads".
Perhaps a bit clunky, but it keeps the files in one place.
You can close the web server (thus closing the program) through the link on the page.
As a note, the files are downloaded as .ts files (which should be runable by most players), and currently the only options are downloading from an m3u8 playlist, or from the roosterteeth.com site. (So AH or FH videos can only be downloaded via their playlist)

Because I can't test it myself, I'd like it if someone could test it out on windows.

I'd like to ask a question. Legitimately. No trolling intended, just want thoughts on the matter.

I often see people complain about characters lack of development and that it's a negative thing. Pyrrha gets a good deal of it thrown her way. Yet there are what appears to be tons of fans for Neo, a character with no development, not getting this complaint. I've seen the reason given by some that she hasn't been ruined by characterization yet. So which is it?
If someone is bad because of the lack of development, why is it then okay for one to be good in the complete absence of development? And why does a character have to have a lot of background and details? Can't there exist good simplistic characters, does everything need an in depth bio?

Characters with no character tend to get a lot of fans just because those fans project whatever personality they'd like best onto said character. They just fill in the gaps. That's why so many side characters get fans. They have one personality trait and the fans roll with it in every direction imaginable.

To answer you properly anon it's more that teams RWBY and JNPR are kinda the main characters at this point.
Ruby herself is supposed to be the main.
The lack of development on characters we're suppsed to care an be rooting for it bad story telling. Their motives? Their aspirations? What are they gonna do?
We complain because alot of the characters don't contibute to the overall narritive. We want the characters to be fleshed out and more like people because otherwise the show becomes static.

Neo is an odd case in that she's an enigma. We know sweet fuck all about her and that mystery is appealing.
Neo likely isn't gonna get development is all likelyhood and that's fine.

The thing is, character development is all over the place. For example, Blake got her entire character arc 1/15 of the way into the series. Jaune's character development is also underway now that he went from nearly defenseless to killing an ursa on his own. Meanwhile, characters like Ruby, the MC, have gotten very little to no development. The problem is that, quite frankly, M&K suck ass at picking who, how and when to develop. Neo is a special case because her one fight with Yang told you everything you need to know about her for now.

Not all characters need to be super complex to be good / popular.

Neo may not be well developed or fleshed out, but it's a bit more forgivable because she's a supporting character and at least has enough character quirks to keep her interesting.

Pyrrha's problem is that she's a main character who is neither interesting / quirky nor well developed, despite getting a significant amount of screentime. As a result, she comes off as being a boring character with little to do outside of wanting to fuck Jaune.

I'm not going to touch on whether or not M&K such at writing, because I don't have the eye to judge it myself.

I can understand the frustration at main characters not being focused on or not getting properly fleshed out. But I think we've gotten enough for the point we're at, at least. We learned in some way team RWBY's motivations from their little campfire chat, and we've know Ruby's since early on. We have a bit of background for each as well; Blake the disillusioned former terrorist, Weiss the heiress struggling to fix her families name after dealing with a troubled childhood, Yang the reckless wanderer trying to find her mother and why she left. Ruby just wants to be the hero and that led her to Beacon. We've even got small bits for team JNPR, though Jaune is dominating the time there. I'm not going to say it couldn't be better or more properly laid out, I'm sure it could. But it still feels early in the story and that we know enough for most of what happens to make sense.

Just my point of view of course.

Yes but beyond reasons for what they do alot of characterization is missing. For instance, we have never seen an episode that deals with how team rwby deals with other students, the focus was Jaune, we have also never really seen their everyday dynamic and how it has evolved, we have they are always together enforced but we never see them with other people, we never see Yangs friends from welcome to Beacon, or really ever hear of them again. To the point people just say they all died. We never see how Weiss and Neptune act away from the group, or if Rube and Jaune hang out without their teams around. There is alot of holes in the entire dynamic.

In the end, I think one of the biggest flaws with RWBY was that it went a bit too fast too soon. I've said this before, but I would have loved it if Volume 1 was just RWBY and JNPR running around the Emerald Forest, dicking around before they complete the test. Honestly, I feel it would have been better for the show as a whole if they held off on getting involved with a terrorist organization and potential world-threatening villains. Any conflict they experienced should have been stuff that a hunter-in-training would have likely gone through in their freshman year, and kept more on a small scale.

I hate to make comparisons, but look at Red vs Blue, the first five seasons, first one-hundred episodes, were all about the Red and Blues, and it wasn't until Season 6 that they had to worry about stakes that affected anyone outside their group. By the start of Volume 2, RWBY were already deciding to go out and fight terrorist which ended up in a giant mech battle. And between the mech and O'Malley, which conflict do you think I had more investment in?

Thanks for the advice. I mostly want to learn how to animate as a hobby for personal reasons and for a few projects I want to make. Who knows? I may even get to the point where I animate some RWBYg OC's or some shit. All I know is that the hardest step is getting started, right?

Nothing makes me forget my problems, When I think I forget I just end up reminding myself and then getting mad.
Every day is me using that anger to push myself to accomplish my goal by getting better each day and hopefully finally calm myself down before I end up dead and forgotten.

Hell even if they did leave the forrest I would have liked to view teambuilding exercise.

Maybe have the threat at the end of Volume 1 be... well not a threat at all, just a sparring match between teams RWBY and JNPR, friendly banter between them.

Jaune showing what he can do with a situation and how to react to them and RWBY showing how much closer they've gotten through the whole thing, especially after the drama between Weiss and Blake.

There is no reason that Volume 1 had to end with conflict being on the horizon, aspecially if it was really just to introduce the characters.
