So realistically, if you actually worked incredibly hard, you could get an animating job (probably not at CN) in 5-7 years (2 years to get good enough to get enrolled, then 4 years at the school, but I'd imagine by your third year you'd probably have some sort of co-op or internship).

The good news is you're young, and your dream is attainable. The bad news is you'll have to work so hard I can almost guarantee you'll begin loathing drawing. It's like how animators don't want to make fan animations because all they do all day is animate, so when they get home they feel like doing something else. Same thing happens with programmers. Competent ones could easily make simple video games, but they don't because they're probably sick of programming when they get home.

Andrew Loomis' Drawing for what is worth, and Burne Hogarth's Dynamic figure drawing are my two favorites, but there's a multitude of decent books to get started with.

It's useful, but not necessarily a must read. Other books can teach you this as well, and you'll slowly pick it up naturally as you try drawing shit you're bad at.

One of the most frustrating parts about drawing is most of the things you learn, you learn by accident. You'll go "Oh, wow so this is how these go together" or "Actually drawing it this way makes life a lot easier". It's essentially poking in the dark making a ton of mistakes and remembering the shit that works.

he's practically the first author to lay down the principles of drawing beyond abstraction, he uses very good visual explanations for the concepts he's laying down and in general is as methodic as a real life course.

other people have made books that surpass it, but they still cover essentially the same things. Loomis is recommended because it's out there for free and everywhere at this point. If you need more help those books are there too, however, many people get stuck looking for the 'right' tutorial because they just get frustrated too easily after trying.

The reasons for those Richard episodes are more likely due to Ben's decision, especially, the hero, which is partially based on his past, or very similar event. Still, I have to admit, the whole plot in the hero is pretty bad.

To me, my favorite episodes are Halloweens and the mirror mainly because it really makes Carrie less one note. I really like how she cares for other in those episodes. Unlike many anime female characters, they have to undergo personal drama in order to help other out.

There are many instances in this show where any sane person would go "How the fuck does this work?". Namely, all of the food character deaths (Banana Joe, the toast kid, the ice cream chick). Not to mention the amount of damaged cause in each episode is somehow magically repaired with no mention of how much it cost.

We know Nicole and Richard were childhood sweethearts. According to the pictures in the shed they were happy when Gumball was a baby, so clearly Nicole sees something in Richard that makes up for his flaws. I mean we've seen Richard calm her down from Hulk mode (using his "charm"). Maybe he's the only one capable of that?

The other thing though is people seldom focus on Nicole's flaws and paint her as a saint. She snaps, causes property damage, and is a control freak. I get she's stressed, and often pushed to a breaking point, but she has a tendency to snap way too hard (of course, much of the humor is derived from that).

All this said, having flaws makes character more relatable. People aren't always happy 100% of the time, and clearly Richard and Nicole must instill some great feeling in each other to go through the shit that happens in Elmore daily.

It's unclear how transformations work (because Nicole has turned into many things including a demon), but it's not that hard to imagine Penny getting pissed and going on a dragon rampage. It's also possible she has forms more powerful than that but the dragon form works well enough. Hell even Nicole created fire after Richard called her a dragon.

Who in the show have we seen that's a better match? I agree Richard is lazy, but as seen in The Job, it's proof that the universe does not want Richard to have an occupation. So the laziness teeny bit justified there. As for better matches, that'd only work in a super ideal scenario, and it doesn't make sense to use a super ideal scenario for another character, and not for Richard.
The only "person" that comes to mind is the cloud guy, but again, we don't know about the things Richard does offscreen to make up for his deficiency.

All in all, I'd say Nicole's foremost bane is her terrible work hours. Richard is just a househusband, who at least pulls through when it's really important.
