Was it like Apocalypse in just ambiguously being really powerful without actually declaring what its powers were?

Onslaught is sort of where I stopped reading comics as a young kid, and then I picked up Brit comics a few years later and eased myself back into American ones through British writers/artists who were getting American gigs. So I never read any Onslaught comics.

Xavier shut down Magneto's mind, and while doing that, the evil within Magneto entered Xavier which unleashed all of Xavier's repressed emotions which created Onslaught, the psychic projection of Xavier's repressed emotions combined with Magneto's evil.

Then X-man fought Xavier, pulling Xavier's psychic projection out of the astral plane and into the mortal plane in the process, something that Xavier didn't know was possible. In doing so, it subconsciously taught Onslaught how to exit the astral plane and take physical form. He proceeded to kidnap Franklin Richards and siphon his power to become exponentially more powerful.

I think the deal with Starscream is:

>1) He's literally immortal so even if you don't rehire him he will come back and try to fuck with you
>2) He's a known quantity; at least with Starscream at your back you have some idea of how and why he's going to try and betray you

Plus he's one of the original crew of Megatron's supporters, and is usually portrayed as somewhat competent when on his own. I can see why he gets kept around. Armada Starscream a best though.

Yeah but she wasn't in control in that situation.

But somehow not as gross as Iron Patriot. Maybe because the name doesn't remind me of Stalin?

and his V persona was pretty humble about it.

Whereas Normal the Osprey was all 'I am better than Stark in everything, I'm better than everyone at everything, WORHSUP MEEE'
>>
>>78326489
They weren't heroes to start with, so that would have been an entirely different reaction than the issue 1 reveal. This whole Thunderbolts thing is still just a ruse to get in close with the national and global security agencies.
>>

>Karla likes being a good guy
Being a hero generally means winning and public adoration. That doesn't pay well, but it is some great stuff.

Can you spot the mistake in this page?

Why Rhodey Rhodes would take a Norman Osborn persona is completely beyond me.

Iron Patriot sounds closer to Iron Man, chosen for product synergy I guess. Still makes no sense from a character perspective.

Honestly I'm fine with that, I think Marvel has a really bad habit of redeeming too many of its female villains, and unlike the dudes it sticks. Look at X-Men.

At her best, Moonstone is one of the best female anti-heroes in comics. Making her a straight-up murderer and psychopath ruins the delicate balance between self-interest, manipulative-ness, and flashes of heroism that make her such a great character in the Classic Thunderbolts.
>>
>>78338090
>>78338378
Yeah, it wasn't a case of redeeming her, it was Reed making her almost comically evil and losing the nuance and self-interest that makes Karla compelling.

Didn't Karla pick a guy up and drop him to his death after flying a few hundred feet in the air in Reed's run? All that run had going for it was the art. Acuna and Takeda in full cheese-cake mode.
>>
>>78327692
Honestly my favorite Natasha is the one who's being a superhero because its better than being a dirtbag spy.

The problem with movie Natasha is that they never really show that desire, or much of anything. She's so cold I can't get into her, even when she was at her best in Winter Soldier.
>>
>>78327234
Oh my god all those 90s guns.
>>
>>78327238
Honestly movie Natasha hasn't earned it. Why SHOULD the morally ambiguous spy be put in a position of responsibility?

A Black Widow or SHIELD movie could answer that question but doesn't seem to be coming.

"What monster would experiment on kids?!"
Zemo sweats.
>>
>>78327727
I love Zemo, and the Masters. I really hope they show up to wreck the universe of Waid's Avengers, we haven't had a good Masters of Evil plot in forever.
>>
>>78339017
I'd really hate to see Zemo continue to backslide.

Thunderbolts put him in a really great and unique position in the Marvel U. He really is the anti-villain people like to pretend Doom is.

>>
>>78331751
Or maybe she's just not into chicks.
>>
>>78339342
I think Moonstone isn't into chicks (and doesn't like other women because she likes being the only one), but she is into doing almost anything where she's in control, it fucks with someone else, and she can get something out of it.

he was Xavier developing a split-personality after having been contaminated by Magneto's "evil".
He had both their powers and later he did add Franklin's and X-Man's.

Classical dictator failing.

Basically that, plus he knew she couldn't be trusted which meant he wouldn't ever let his guard down, exactly what he did need.

Everything went as planned, except for Jolt
>>
>>78339752
Jolt was both Karla's moral compass and daughter-figure of sort.

That's why I think Karla would be a great addition to Kamala's cast as the local school psychologist or something.

>>

of course nobody would know. And Karla trying to keep her cover and not drive any New Jersey teenager to suicide would be hilarious.
>>
>>78344889
but karla wants money and power, and someone above her to backstab.
Where would she find those things there?
Being a local school psychologist would be like being in prison for her, as well as way below her qualifications.
>>
>>78345237
>but karla wants money and power, and someone above her to backstab.
No, she doesn't.
Well, not anymore. Sure, she's not going to turn down money and the possibility to influence people(power), but she's trying to be a good person.

She just doesn't know HOW. And her trying a second shot at being a mom with Kamala is quite in-character.
>>
>>78344803
Karla would be great as a more experienced but jaded and grey morality character to act as a counterpoint for Carol's perfect but absent role model.
>>
>>78345294
fuck kamala and the waifufaggottry that surrounds her
>>
>>78345329
Yeah- the contrast is perfect: Carol is the "role model" distant and perfect, with her moral absolutes and shit.
Karla is the "example", jaded and even nihilistic or cynical but really practical.

And the Karla\Carol rivalry helps, too.

There is also the parallels Kamala idolizing Carol but learning from Karla, and Karla seeing a lot of Jolt in Kamala except Kamala has a stable support-base, friends and family.
This shit writes itself.

Need help stopping some evil corp from gentrifying your town? Karla will help out by punching some robots and stealing a ton of money from those fat cats!

I've wanted to see Karla in Kamala's Ms. Marvel since day-1.
>>
>>78345461
So does Karla's inevitable fall off the law-abiding wagon and Kamala being forced to fight her.
>>
>>78347120
Karla is more likely to use Kamala as moral compass.

You know, to avoid repeating the mistakes from Avengers\Thunderbolts.

She's more likely to exert some "grey" solution to a problem. I see Karla as something like Emma from Marvel Adventure Spider-man in this.
>>
>>78347120
THAT I'd dig, or Kamala learning that Karla was using her for some scheme and just losing her shit.

If Moonstone's gonna be in Kamala's life, I feel like she should be the definition of "Do not grow up to be this.". We've GOT a morally ambiguous blond woman who gets away with murder in Marvel, her name's Emma Frost. You don't have to take all of the ambiguity away from Moonstone, but I don't think she should, ultimately, be a positive influence.

I think she should be Kamala's first real, honest to god rogue who fucks up Kamala's life.
