Is the death and return of superman worth getting?

First and second act are an universal classic. Ending is forced and farfetched and universally hated.
And it's such an important piece of comic history and so polarizing one that if you're interested in comics it's kind of a must-have.

The fight is pretty stupid and brainless.
The "World without a Superman" part is fantastic, and especially great if you're familiar with what was going on in Superman comics at the time.
The Return part is pretty fucking retarded.
Overall, I mostly don't recommend it.

Superman vs Doomsday fight is Jurgens-tier of retardation.
World without Superman and return is quite enjoyable but not a masterpiece in any way.

In general is worth reading, but don´t buy it, it´s too expensive for its overall quality.

Fuck no. They wasted the most popular Superman book of all time on a retarded story where Superman punches gray Hulk to death.

It's a insult to the character in every way and severely hurt his franchise from that point onward.

The Doomsday fight is good if you don't think about it.

Hell, the later Hunter/Prey mini flat out calls out the writers stupidity for having Superman engaging Doomsday hand to hand. He's smart enough to end the fight quickly through range or knocking Doomsday into space.

World without a Superman is an amazing piece and basically the most well remembered part of the story.

Return is a mix of grimdark and overly edgy 90s stuff. Not very fulfilling and all you need to know is that Supes returned to life thanks to some clever Kryptonian tech usage.

You didn't actually read that story, did you. Like, Doomsday fight is literally just introduction to the story arc, majority of it is about him being dead.

Sitting down and reading this with a cup of tea was how I planned to spend today (off sick from work). Have heard extremely mixed opinions. Will post thoughts.
