He's a piece of shit who has based his life around quoting people smarter than himself and always misinterpret what they said (or straight up makes shit up because he does no fact checking as long as it sounds good). That's really all you need to know.

Zen Pencils does tend to have its head up its ass but there is something incredibly fufilling and energizing about seeing someone celebrate your work via fan art. Because it means not only do they like your design or ideas, they're willing to devote time and energy into trying to recreate it. Sales or a "nice job" are great, but that hand made thing is like seeing your kid graduate or something. It means you've got a tiny bit of immortality now.

It's more to do with how this guy doesn't have much creativity in his work other than being able to craft a narrative around an inspirational quote some figure has made in history (and even then, those narratives are often similar in structure), then goes around and acts as if his work is one of the most important works of this console generation.
