The original show did that, mayhaps because they needed to stay closer to the toy-line.

But back than it was Adam + Power = He-Man.

The 2002 Show has young foolish Adam + Power = not so foolish and more mature He-Man, which is a bit of a stretch.

And I think the invented the young Adam so they had a character kids could identify with. Better Choice: Adam's age and wisdom should be on par with He-Man's.

At least in the 200X cartoon there was e visual distinction between Adam and He-Man that make the transformation sequence and the whole secret identity far more believable. In the Failmation cartoon the whole transformation/secret identity thing was ridiculous.

The 2002 shows just seemed like a lot of the typical "Edgy badass!" versions of all the 80's characters. Not really a lot of changes, just more grim faces and ammo pouches.

Orko would actually be pretty great if they didn't insist on making him a habitual fuck up.

On his home planet, wasn't he actually a top tier wizard, and only lost his ability to be competent when separated from it?

When he actually puts any effort into what he's doing (or when the plot demands it), he usually does pretty well for himself

All you have to do to fix Orko is make him competent at magic (if not powerful) and just slightly tweek his personality. He can still be goofy and childlike without behaving like a brat

or completely replace him with Gwildor. He was just as goofy, but he was fucking brilliant and managed to pull his own weight
