just started watching tron uprising
fuck, this is really really good so far. it has all of the visual elements from legacy that i love but it actually has a story
what is it with disney xd and killing off promising shows?
>what is it with disney xd and killing off promising shows?
DXD is a satelite channel but when Disney sees numbers that are normal for those kinds of channels they think the show isn't doing so well and cancell it.
TV CEOs are some of the most moronic people you've meet.
i haven't been listening too closely to the score, but the guy who writes the music is joseph trapanese, who worked with daft punk on tron legacy.
there have been specific references to the songs "the grid" and "armory"
wish they would play derezzed or son of flynn, those are my favorite tracks.
Tron Uprising has a god-like soundtrack too.
Just about every aspect of the show was top fucking notch.
I miss the threads we had. Good times were had whenever Paige was in an episode. The booty worship was inspiring.
Motorcity was on around the same time and shat show was also hella sweet. It was all around a good time.
I also miss the /co/grams nickname. I thought it was a little clever.
Dang it, this show had too much potential. Just like Gargoyles.
Tron:U's loss hits me harder than any other show.
It's genuinely one of the best seasons of any cartoon but the ending is so unsatisfying and it kills me that it was killed because Legacy was so shitty.
My all-time favorite action cartoon. I love everything about this show, and it's a damn shame Disney drowned the Tron franchise because they obtained Star Wars and Marvel.
The animators and artists were god-tier as well. If you watch any scene where a character equips their helmet, for a split second you'll see protective pads extrude first that wrap around their head. Almost nobody will ever see it unless they're looking for it, and they did it anyway.
It didn't die cause of Legacy, it died cause of shitty scheduling and sending it off to the Disney XD mines before that shit became an established thing like now just like Motorcity.
On the contrary, Disney wanted to get a third season made, and the reason it was held off on telling people that this season would be the last is because they were hoping Alex would change his mind.
How could I have not saved that "Do it again, and BETTER!" comic... I'm sad now.
Highest bodycount on a Disney XD show ever.
It doesn't help that Alex said before he wasn't sure if it would have a third season or not, or if they'd have a movie after the second season. I think at this point he's just tired of the fandom and wants out.
Thanks Anon. Here's some Paige as a thank you.
I think it's because Alex and his crew thinks it's for the best to have two seasons only.
Sure, a third season was originally planned, but they changed that so it wouldn't drag on. After all, it's just one summer.
>we only see the cape twice in the entire series for about 5 seconds each
at 0:48 I love that her boobs jiggle when she lift her arm
I think these are the only two programs we see her derezz.
I haven't seen anything on TV as cool as this since it aired.
this show going off the air was the end of action cartoons i give a shit about
You really can take a screenshot of almost any scene in this show and it'd make a kickass wallpaper.
>It probably can't compare to Tron Legacy's god like sound track... but is it at least good?
>It probably can't compare to Tron Legacy's god like sound track
>can't compare to Tron Legacy's god like sound track
Have a little faith, dude.
I remember when this came out - /co/ started a campaign for buying the soundtrack in hopes that it might convince the Disney execs there was a solid fanbase.
IIRC it ended up being the top selling soundtrack album of the year.
... didn't help, of course, but still.
>Paige never learned that Tesler was the one that betrayed her
>Or that Beck is the Renegade
>Or that Tron is actually alive
Thinking about it, what would've happened if she did learn that Tron was actually alive? She couldn't tell Tesler; he'd send her to the games to die for her heresy. She can't tell anyone higher than him, since Dyson and Clu would've killed her for finding it out.
I mean there are some pretty foregone conclusions. The rebellion in Argon fails, Tron is captured and corrupted into Rinzler, Zed is possibly the program who derezzes himself before he can be sent to the Games, and Bartik is the scarred black guy who is unceremoniously derezzed at the club.
This still makes me sad. While the teen drama parts of the show were a little hit-or-miss with me, the writing was consistently good, the acting was almost always great and the music and visuals were top-notch. I think if this show went to online-only episode, like Legend of Korra did, I think it would've found an audience. I think the big problem with the series was that they didn't really know who they wanted to market it to: pre-teens or a slightly older demographic.
Tron: Uprising was one of those perfect shows. It had fantastic visuals, story, voicework, and a kicking soundtrack with nearly every episode being fun to watch. I'm sill fucking pissed that Disney completely dropped the ball in handling it at every opportunity. Why must everything I love be screwed by corporate meddling?
It found an audience, but not one Disney knew how to market to and thus, it was irrelevant. No toy company wants to run their adds when only teenagers and young adults are watching.
The reason it really bombed was because they put at 0:00 AM only once every Sunday on XD. So even if you owned XD you'd have to watch it in the middle of the night on a fucking Sunday like it's forbidden porn or some shit.
The real reason for why Disney decided to shit on it so badly is because: the jews were still butthurt about Legacy not making enough money compared to the production costs, so Disney's bright idea was to take a shit on the budget for Uprising by lowering the 3D animation to stiff talking and movement that makes Uprising look like it was animated in Flash. Also the fades used to be more bearable to watch. I think they put more erfort into the 2D texture faces before the budget went to hell.
But don't mourn it, anon. You will always have Reboot. A much hetter written show which doesn't limit itself to 1 story.
Legacy and Uprising both had very crappy writing.
Seriously who's idea was it to cast Frodo's voice as the protagonist? He just made Beck sound autistic.
>Legacy and Uprising both had very crappy writing.

>being this contrarian
whatever you say pal
Highest actually shown body count.
Blowing up faceless troopers and techs on a starship isn't the same as physically dismembering characters on screen.
See, there's a big difference there.
Jack has its original creator and network both on board with full support from all sides.
Tron doesn't have a chance because Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars now and it couldn't give any less of a shit because of the tens of billions of dollars its raking in now as the most powerful entertainment company in the entire goddamn world.
>Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars now and it couldn't give any less of a shit because of the tens of billions of dollars its raking in now as the most powerful entertainment company in the entire goddamn world.
I love how all our jokes about Tron being an overbearing mentor all came true.
The show cost a gorillian dollars to look this good, and Disney XD didn't really have any other older demographic shows, so it sucks, but I can understand why they pulled the plug.
Didn't help that Beck started off with the personality of a beige towel.
If anything, I blame the writers for not wrapping up the plot faster if things weren't looking good for the show.
I'm really fond of both her and Paige. Two pretty intriguing female characters that both embody archetypes I'm really fond of. Paige probably has the edge for me personally.
>Good news: I'm healed
Tron Uprising was a whole show about Tron actually being there to do Tron things, as opposed to just about every other bit of media where he's liable to not even be there beyond mention.
>There will probably never be another Tron vidya again, especially one that's similar in vein to 2.0
>Tron will never get an Infinity figure despite being the freaking namesake of his series
I hate that.
I hated how in Legacy, the only people who ever got focus where the people working with Flynn or Clu. Uprising was the only part of the franchise the regular programs ever got some real focus and it got me so much more invested in the setting. The original did that as well to some extent but Legacy was terrible at it.
>P:You rain down chaos and I won't rest until your stopped.
>B: I'm fighting for you, too.
>P: Then you've already lost.
What is the likelihood of the Uprising being concluded in another media? Would y'all be interested? Would it carry the same weight if it was a novel or a comic, or if the animation style changed?
