I'm writing a story about a guy with a suit of power armor, a robotic arm that he built from scraps, and a mutant cat with some scales and a scorpion tail as he adventures along a mutated, blasted wasteland, meeting friends, and coming into conflict with different shitty groups of people. I see it as A Boy and his Dog crossed with Conan.
The guy's sort of autistic, being terrible at dealing with people and routinely "disappears" into his tinkering.

Pretty cool monsters, but the shared features and colors make them seem very homogenized. I personally find that kind of thing to be dull more often than not. Mauler, Butcher and Devourer look like pokemon evolution, not their own beings. Though don't know what their deal is either. They could be part of a gritty pokemon fan reboot for all I know.

Yeah. Originally done as part of a warm-up sketch for a set of Xmas pics I was commissioned for recently. Commissioner didn't want a reindeer girl though. I thought it was cute and instead of tossing the design, I gave her handlebar antlers, a chipped tooth, colored her blue, and said she was an alien.

Clover (right) and Sweet Grass (Left) are two girls who are traveling around the world by Transcontinental train to get to a music festival at the direct center of the map.

Clover is a strong, affluent, ex-fighter, british girl who made her name fighting monsters and other opponents in gladiator matches and other various competitions of strength. However a train accident caused her to lose her arm. Now with a cyborg arm she has quit her fighting career to pursue her other passion. Music. However her style is unrefined and sparadic.

Sweet Grass is a country girl from the US who's never left her small town. She's basically a blank slate and knows almost nothing of the outside world. However she is a musical genius and Clover wants to use her to help her make a name for herself at the music competition. She lost both of her legs in a farm accident and now has cyborg legs.

Red one is sick, the other one i don't like really. I'm not sure which idea you are trying to go for, Like for a cartoon? Big strong man and funny small one.

The only thing I dislike about the blue mecha is the eyes and mouth. The perspective of his right eye is weird. Another rule when I draw mechs is to not draw curved mouths, because it's dumb, except in XJ9's case.

I'm reluctant about the color, I've always envisioned it as purple. But I always intended on having it be the only ambiguous species, so I'm glad to hear that. As for the line work, I intended on having it emulate Ralph Steadman's style but that didn't work out so recent drawings have been tame for lack of a better word.

You have a very aesthetically pleasing style, but I have to be honest with you- the character creation could stand to be stronger. As is currently they kind of feel derivative or like ... reliant too much on the face that you swap out a human head for something else.

I think you have the potential for incredible things with your work but I would recommend trying odder shapes and more coherent concepts for your characters. As is they're very quirky- in a fun way- but they could be so much more with a little bit of retooling, focus, and discipline!

Sorry if I come off as mean or something, I just really wanted to give my honest criticisms, I really do like your work!

I honestly wasn't trying to give them any hate, I really like their work and I want to give them the same type of criticism I would give anyone else in this thread- just because they have more of a technical mastery doesn't mean they're above criticism!

That being said, their handling of technical skill and stylistic choices do pretty much blow out most of the artists in this thread.

Fuck I remember this from an earlier thread actually, I think I tried drawing him once too but I don't think I saved it, if I post a pic with this post than I guess I saved it?

Anyway, I'd say mostly 3 because the nose let's you do more stuff, but I'd do that thing some artists do where they change the pupils based on the mood.

Like by default he has big pupils but when he's nervous or upset the pupils turn into the the smaller "cartoonier" style. Similarly since you like his nostrils a lot, have remnants of the other nostrils pop up every know and then. Like he has his nose from 3 but whenever he gets a wiff of something his nostrils get big and circular like that.

Just my two cents.

i remember you from when people were applying for the steven universe storyboard test... you've definitely imprived, but your drawings still seem kinda flat and rely heavily on a "style" that reads as derivative. like nothing about them reads as yours because you're drawing with others' shorthand - it just looks like stuff i've seen over and over, like most of the first and second years in my program draw almoat exactly the same way. i think you should look at more art outside of cartoons and what is current.

I don't mean that particular drawing, I mean all of the work of yours I've seen. The stylistic elements seem borrowed from artists you like, rather than your own personal shorthand. If your work was in a crowd of drawings by other artists who are around your age/have similar interests I wouldn't be able to tell yours apart because it's drawing on the same influences (video game/internet art, cartoon network, popular tumblr artists, etc) as the rest of your peers. That's why I said you need to look at more art beyond what's in or current - go above and beyond your peers who only draw from what's immediately available to them.

I usually post in batman "work on your art" threads but there doesn't appear to be one. I'm working on an animated series centering around a ton of old games I've found with little to no record of their existence online. I've been posting about it pretty regularly and I'm finally starting to work out some test animations and storyboards, though this is my first time animating so there's a long way to go.

The games are all from the 90s so everything I'm animating looks reminiscent of 90s sci fi.
