None of her merchandise shows the face, in some cases even when normal stormies have them underneath the helmets, and dark troopers were recently brought back in the new canon and are even showing up among merchandise, it seems way too obvious. Depends who you ask. I know zweihanders have those extensions after the hand guard to increase their overall range.

Otherwise great swords are pretty much all blade and a lot of it. Problem is, lightsaber blades are near/completely weightless. So the weight needs to come from somewhere in order to create the same heavy swings you'd get from a great sword. In this case, the upper part of the hilt.

It's completely ridiculous and pointless considering great swords only make up for their slowness with range and how hard they cut into shit due to their weight, when lightsabers can cut almost anything.

So I'm now mostly caught up with the new EU canon. It's mixed.

The novels are mostly good, and I'm especially digging how the story group is handling the stuff between the prequel and original trilogies (Tarkin, A New Dawn, Rebels, Lords of the Sith, etc.) The stuff set in and around the OT is a bit more mixed though, and the comics are just awful. Marvel gets their hands on Vader and the first thing they do is give him a quirky manic pixie dreamgirl sidekick and have him speak in quips? Come on man.

I'm also still not entirely sure why the entire EU was bombed when nothing in "the new EU" is contradicting the old pre-ROTJ EU stories. I'm glad they cut the post-ROTJ shit because it was always a pile of crap (Hutts with lightsabers, mary sue weapons, lightsaber kneepads, Luuuke, Triclops, etc. - virtually every single thing that people make fun of when they make fun of the EU was post-ROTJ), but why axe everything else if you weren't going to do anything interesting to replace what was removed? It's especially funky because a few of the books outright reference shit from the old EU, so it all feels like a mess. I like keeping things the same, and I like hard reboots, but this quasi-half-assed soft reboot stuff is always obnoxious.

Also, while Vader didn't speak in quips in ANH, he spoke almost exclusively in quips in ESB, and that seems to be what they're drawing on. It's not out of character unless you're willing to accept that ESB's not nearly as good as everyone seems to think.

And fuck you, not all the comics are bad. Lando was amazing, Kanan's great, and Vader's good unless you just irrationally hate Aphra for some reason.

The EU got wiped because they wanted free space going forward for better long-term expansion. That's about it.

It's not a soft reboot. The Legends EU is not canon, but is being considered a writers resource, so it can be drawn from and used.
