Christmas is right around corner
so let's have a spooky thread.
I can't wait for the howlidays.
Why don't you say that to his face Anon, see how well it goes
Vampires because biting and mind control is hot
I've forgotten, what's the one dude's name who made the manga with the man-shaped holes? I know it's not really /co/, but I seem to recall he also made one with some dude seeing a fucked up lady through his binoculars...and that's one of the few comic related things that really managed to spook me.
Second boss from Super Metroid reporting in
I have no idea who this character is but I like her fanart.
Yes, she's cute.
Already with the December Spooky threads? Not complaining.
My vote goes for witches, ghosts and
Where are the momies and the golems?
Those are even monsters?
Zombies too, but they are always low tier.
>Jokes on you
>Silver only kills werewolf furries
>It only makes the dragon scalies stronger
Dragons are spooky enough to be relevant, right?
I like witches, skeletons, and ghosts. But vampires take the cake.
I got you, senpai
Have any of you seen Krampus yet? The reviews are flat-out lying.
>General lack of jumpscares
>Amazing practical effects and costume design (for the most part, there are a few instances where they use CG)
It's not 10/10 or anything, but it's a really solid holiday horror movie and I'm surprised the reviews I saw prior were "mixed to bad"
Horror movies are the hardest to get an unbiased review, or rather, reflective of your own views.
Anything too imaginitive and people cry "That wuz dumb." Anything too "by the numbers" and no one is scared.
>DEATH is not on either of these
Fuck you guys, Discworld had comics and animated movies.
Spoilered for faggotry
I had an idea once for a Monsters High OC who was a dragon. To make him blend in a bit more with the spookiness, I sort of imagined him being somewhat Xenomorph like in movement and such. Similarly his shyness meant he snatched people and dragged them off to his 'at school' lair so he could talk without anxiety issues.
I want to get off Ms. Phanty's
>vampires take the cake.
You've got that right. Cute pic.
Neither do I, really; I'm just spouting memes.
Herny would be a poor choice, he doesn't like her character much and he makes her thick for laughs. Best choice would be the guy that made these, but his contact info has been lost to the winds
To be honest, I just feel that we need more quality fanart in general. Things like pic related but.... much better.
Aside from some text, that is the full picture.
>Phantasma and Winnie gets tons of fanart.
>The mummified loli barely gets any at all.
Why don't you love Tanis?
I'll make your last living moments... ABSOLUTELY beautiful!
THE SPOOK BEFORE CHRISTMAS IS ON THE 21ST
For fucks sake Anon, don't preach about how to properly do spooky threads with pics like that; you're gonna get spooky threads banned from /co/ with shit like that.
General request for all the drawfriends:
Draw your favorite spooky girl wearing these sunglasses and acting accordingly
>scroll through thread
>no sign of best skele
Plebs, all of you.
>skeletons are inside of people
I knew /co/ was retarded but holy shit.
Fuck man, I just had like seven heart attacks there.
>tfw when a skeleton will never be inside you
Fucking hell, that sounds nightmarish.
You can't make lewd fanart of awesome mansions. Actually, I'm sure you can, but it can't compare.
I hate her hair. She's still a cutie pie, though.
They're cum guzzling whore who fuck anything in the purpose of "research". Anyone who willingly lays with one is a kek of the highest order.
She's the best ghoul
As much as we love our ghoulish waifus, all their puns are-
I will never betray my ghost waifu.
Oh No! Tanis is upset!
How do you comfort her?
Guys you forgot to post
>Ask her to wrap it up
>Go get her mummy
>Tell her this place is supposed to be quiet as a tomb
>Tell her to go in the crying crypt
>Buy her a cute new sarcopha-dress
>Is she just crying or is she like screaming bad words and shit? Because if so, then I'd ask the mummy to stop cursing.
>Since she acquired a taste for hippy English music at the British museum, I'd try putting on some John Linen.
>Are the wrapping just falling down in that image, or is she actively controlling them? Because if she has tentacles, then whatever I do, I'll have to be tentative.
>Ask Phanty for help
Midna counts as spooky, yeah?
feed the wolf's feral side. assuming she has the control over the beast form, even if it's just "That time of the month"
strong girls also best, so either buff wild girl, frankengirl or ogre/oni thing
WHEN THE CRYPT DOOR CREAKS AND THE TOMB STONE QUAKES
Spooks come out for a swinging wake
Alright, here you go.
Alright, did my best!
Added my own witch girl for extra flavor.
But i love monsters in general
>Breathing life into dead thread.
Fucking hell, I completely forgot about that one.
>Tanis getting (or attempting) vengeance for all of Phanty's royal slams when?
So like pic related, but with every single trap turning against Tanis?
Something like that, yeah. But maybe with more "spooky" shit; scarab beetles that phase right past Phanty and start eating Tanis' cloth wrappings, Revolta's brainwashing earmuffs that when used on Phanty just play her favorite song, stuff like that.
Maybe she just saw all the other Ghouls acting like zombies and working for Revolta, and decided to play along.
Ghosts are weird.
Phanty is weird.
the deviant in me wants this to be the start of a sequence with her getting bimbofied as a result of putting those glasses on, extra points if she's still sufficiently spooky afterwards
I'm gonna have to see if I can track down some spooky Christmas pictures.
Fuck's with these captchas?
clowns, dolls, and scarecrows are the best for scaring people. they're easymode for a reason.
skellies can be spooky.
werewolves, witches, and demons can be depending on the design.
ghosts and vampires aren't anymore.
reapers and fishpeople were never taken seriously.
>vampires aren't anymore
I have a friend who told me when he was a kid, he was deathly afraid of Dracula. I thought it was cute, some people are still scared of them.
Plus Big Boss is super scared of vampires.
The undead don't need to breathe.
>"And then, 'Honk honk... the car honked its own horn!'"
>I am the shadow on the moon at night
>Filling your dreams to the brim with fright
Is that Oogie speaking? What exactly does he mean? What is the meaning behind him being "the shadow on the moon"?
It has been a while since Halloween. Come on, if this is a spooky thread. How can we not mention a gothic half mortal ghost?
>Do spooky tomboys count?
He's the "Man in the moon" who makes the dark shapes on the surface of the moon extra spooky.
He may or may not be Oogie, but they do sound the same, and both appear to be cloth people. It is possible that he's a shape shifter who happened to choose the form of the antagonist, since Oogie didn't want to bother to show up for the song.
>It's just Oogie.
You don't actually know that, and are making a baseless assumption.
It has the looks and sound of Oogie, but Oogie himself has a radically different style of scaring, and doesn't seem too concerned with the moon, or do have any powers. From that one can deduce that is either Oogie is moonlighting as the man in the moon in addition to being a boogie man, or the man in the moon is a separate character who choose to take on the appearance of a scary guy with a great voice, who's absent from the scene
Either is a reasonable interpretation of an unclear and unresolved body of evidence. Jumping to a definite statement without any supporting logic is just stupid on your part.
Nobody wants to kneel down to your stupid level, anon. It's Oogie.
Assuming this is a different character, why would he choose to show himself in the form of Oogie?
As the top replied post suggests, he may have just been trying to "fill in" for the absent Oogie.
But maybe Oogie is his preferred form for general spookiness?
If all he does is change the appearance of the moon to scare people, we can assume that he tries a variety of shapes. And, if he really is watching everything from the moon, then that would mean he would know how to scare each person the best; make a spider-shaped shadow on the moon for an arachnophob, stuff like that.
But for the huge Halloween musical, when he has an audience to perform for, he chooses to be Oogie. Does that mean he believes that Oogie is, generally speaking, the scariest citizen of Halloween Town?
The other citizens seemed to agree that Jack was the scariest, but the Man on the Moon didn't show his shadow. Did he not want to "steal his thunder", or whatever, and so he went for the second scariest guy, Oogie, since he wasn't even there?
Or does he know for a fact that Oogie is the scariest between the two? If he really does see all, or at least, a lot, from the moon, then he might know that Oogie, in addition to be scary in the sense that other Halloween Town citizens are, is also the only one who is legitimately evil.
Jack and the others, even traditionally "evil by definition" creatures like the demons and serial killer clowns, are actually pretty nice. They never hurt anyone, just scare them. Were one to get to know them, they wouldn't be scared at all, as they aren't really deserving of fear.
And so Oogie, as the only one who you should actually be afraid of, is objectively the scariest person in Halloween Town. The Man on the Moon knew this, and that is why he choose to appear as Oogie.
>Assuming this is a different character, why would he choose to show himself in the form of Oogie?
Eh, if you want to go with the different character thing, i can make an assumption.
It's because Oogie Boogie is generally treated as "the realest shit", so by using his face he appeared as the most frightening thing possible as sort of an embodiment of "exactly the last thing you'd ever want to see a shadow of."
Jack might be the king of fright, but that's all just in good spirits. Boogie is just a fucking asshole and terrifies everyone because he's so goddamn raw. He's the monster that even the other monsters are afraid of.
Though i personally think it's just a cute way of foreshadowing the villain with no real significance.
>Though i personally think it's just a cute way of foreshadowing the villain with no real significance.
Nonsense, this is super real content that we need to endlessly post about to understand Tim Burton's deep lore.
I'm sure it's just foreshadowing, but this thread has hit pages 8-10 a couple times now, and I don't want to see another spooky thread die
>The difference between Boogie and Jack
Let me put it this way. If you sneak up on your friend while they're not looking and scream in their ear, that's just an innocent scare. That's jack. He might genuinely spook the other citizens, but he has to work for it by using his tricks and in the end they still know it's good ol' jack.
Oogie Boogie is the guy that walks into the room, doesn't say a word, and you just want nothing to do with him. Because everyone knows people tend to disappear around that particular guy and for some reason everything he owns is stained with blood. There's no trick to it, he's a genuine malevolent threat and the terror is real. Not just a cute trick in the spirit of the season.
I'm not sure if it's depressing or not that these threads only do well when we talk about waifus.
On on hand I like spooky and want to talk about spooky junk. On the other hand I never want Herny to ever stop drawing ghost wife.
>Other Scooby Doo movies, I suppose, but Ghoul School is an absolute necessity for all the waifus
>Scary Godmother 2
>Scary Godmother 3
>Over the Garden Wall (not a movie but still fitting)
>Nightmare before Christmas
Coraline is so fucking good. Even waifuing aside, it feels like a timeless story, like it could be adapted from a fairy tale. And it's gorgeous, and so well-performed, and has a lovely score. It's just scary enough for what it is, too.
And if you didn't fall in love with Coraline herself, you have no soul.
Quick and messy before this thread is kill
I agree with your thinking.
Oogie represents a very real and terrifying threat,
If the Shadow flashed Jack's grin at some point, it would settle everything and prove his playful and spooky nature. and also look really cool. I'm legitimately disappointed the shadow of the moon never did anything else during the whole movie, it could have been real spooky and fun
do any of you guys remember the female werewolf from Cybersix? did anyone brought her up during the october threads?
10)Fishpeople (Don't get me wrong, in CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth they freaked me out, but I think that was more due to them being a mob than hybrids)
That part of the song was naming off more abstract things that could scare you. Hence the "Who when you call who's there" and "The wind blowing through your hair". The shadow looking and sounding like Boogie was foreshadowing.
Gruftine is great. She and Tinto should have gotten more screentime compared to that fucker Fletscher.
Someday they'll find more episodes of the Baskervilles.
I rather put caps on /co/ related characters but spooky thread sounds decent
thread's undead though
That's a good point.
Well never fucking mind then.
I guess not.
Why is /co/'s Elsa so fucking adorable?
Why is she so neglected?
I love Woo Waifu as much as the next guy (well, the next guy in this thread, at least; I don't think Phanty is a generally loved or even known character), but I'd like to see more of Elsa, too.
Quest Guy said he was doing Elsa Quest next, or soon, so maybe that will change things.
My girlfriend is 17, 16 when we started dating. He seems to have a problem with that.
I got some tips for our halloween date on of the october threads, I'm fond of Fangora and I'm from somewhere in New England. He connected the dots and got buttmad
I can guarantee this skeleman has legitimately spooked more people than any other.
Jealousy or moralfaggotry, either way it's amusing. I check these threads to see if the artistguys have made any new Fangora but sadly I seem to be the only one pushing for her
>Just when the spooking is about to drop off page 10...
>Just when it's all about to end...
Two months in, and /co/anon is still waiting.
