Characters and there terrible arcs that repeated each book and never seem to learn. Especially Korra who never grows up
No feeling of a team or even friendship
New villain each book meaning they never got expanded on enough
Most problems would have been solved if Korra never did anything in the first place
Abandoning proper martial arts but not having a good enough choreographer to make it still work
Lack of muscles being shown off

1) Bryke in charge of writing instead of just general showrunning and big picture ideas
2) The network flipflopping on seasons and budgets constantly, making it hard to plan anything

The other problems just sort of escalated from those two factors. Just keep the same general ideas, have good writers work it out, and commit to a solid amount of seasons and budget from the start and everything would be 10/10.

I can't just say "Bryke sucks" because there was a lot of great ideas in there, and they were legitimately fucked over by Nick more than once. At the same time, they got full of themselves and forgot about what made Avatar work in the first place. I think if there were just a solid "you have X budget and X seasons, start planning the arcs" you'd have a much better overall run for the show. At the same time, even if they got that hard dicking from Nick, more experienced and competent writers could have made it into something better.

Aang was a better character which highlighted how bad Korra's flaws were. Aang had to actually die before he went so nuts he stormed off to attack the fire lord completely solo, Korra does it after the press bugs her too much. Aang spent one episode learning to be more patent with firebending, Korra spends her entire arc trying to get airbending down and just having it suddenly happen to her.

Knowing that in book 1 they still couldn't do well though. They believed it was a set number of episodes so wrote it for that, but it is terrible. They go no where with the equalists and focus way to much time on romance and pro-bending which no one enjoyed.

Honestly, Bryke is the main problem. We all know that there original plans for AtLAB had Zuko and Iroh doing Kung Pow. There only really skill is the very general concept. A better team messed around like this could still do a better job
